WOWT 6 News: A very sad update to pass along. Fremont Police have released new information about the death of an 8-year-old girl.Comments:
eiram arak - I think the family probably is glad to have some of the details released because a lot of people have been accusing them of something... So sad for everyone involved... Hopefully this gives her family a little bit of peace even though they'll never conpletley heal from this loss...
sggob sew - That's the saddest thing I've heard in a long time :( Poor little baby...
htims hsoj - I don't think the specific details are necessary for the public to know. Prayers for the family, no sense in having the whole city know what happened to their poor girl.
lebaz adnerb - Prayers for all. The driver I know you are hurting. I know you tried your best. Please rely on God to get you through this. I wish sometimes I could reverse times. This is one of them.

WOWT 6 News: An Omaha mother has been cited for child abuse after her 4-year-old girl was found wandering the streets alone around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday.Comments:
dnalmurk nire - I'm sorry but if the mother was asleep and the child woke up and opened the door how is this abuse or neglect? My daughter would do this when she was younger (she never left the house) but she would get a chair and unlock the door. Short of locking her in her room what is a parent suppose to do? We have to sleep too.
retsiemremmah nitsuj - Wouldn't it be child neglect instead of abuse?
ecreip ylrebmik - Jenna james take your gloves off it is not winter hello stupid is is spring weather don't need gloves gloves are for winter get it
zeugirdor airam - Is all ways the mom what about DAD
namtihw nna hteb - And this is why I recommend putting the cheap door alarms u can get at Wal-Mart on all doors leading to outside. I did this when my daughter went out on the balcony of my apartment when I was at work and my husband was in the bathroom. It is always better safe then sorry.
sreveis ecnal - This is the worst report ever. It provides no information no context. no nothing.
nostam atteloc - Depends on the details. But if the child slipped out during the night, unknown to the parent, i would not call that abuse. Just a wake up call to remedy the situation.
nork yecal - Wow.. This makes absolutely no sense. They will get anybody for anything now a days. It's always abuse. Smh
yeknoc acissej - There has to be more to the story for it to be considered abuse. Children can and will wander out of the house. It doesn't mean the parents are neglectful or abusive. They could be the best parents in the world and their child might take it upon themselves to go for a walk. Unfortunately, it's a hard lesson for parents whose children are prone to wander, but it means taking action by putting locks higher up on the door ... but a strong-willed child will still probably find a way (pulling a chair over to stand higher and unlock the door).
strebor yllek - I believe anymore the police cite and let the courts figure it out. If there's no other history then this should be dropped. Until your child wanders out the door by themselves, you never expect them to do it (and truth is many never do). I've never known a family that has the special high locks to prevent this (but their kids have never taken off while they were sleeping) and the way our society is working now, if this mom would have had the child-proof locks but then there was a fire and the kid couldn't get out on her own, she'd be facing charges, too.
nosnaitsirhc eizark - If she lives in the townhomes aka projects the back doors unlock on the inside with a turn of the handle. And they do not allow you to add locks higher up due to they claim its fire hazard.
kcirlu egroeg - My third son was always going outside. I put a latch hook at the top of the door to keep him and it only lasted a couple of minutes. He picked up a yard stick, walked over to the door and pushed up on the hook unlocking the door.
namned netsirk - Gloves and coat and hat were bc it was in the 30s this morning... not quite warm lol did you step outside before you posted your comment?!
rehsif-nadirehs yerdua - Really Kimberly Pierce...you are criticizing Jenna James for wearing gloves.l. Get a life girl. Can't you find anything better to complain about?
yenkcits yram - a 2 year old can open the door , put a lock high up
namnik nosaj - Invisible fence collar 😁
retsiemreuab eibbed - Probably more to the story...sad
eilzooh elzooh - I used to sneak out and play with the neighbors down the street when I was five. My mom never knew. I turned out fine. Of course I would be in trouble whenever she found out that I did it without permission. In 1990 it was pretty normal to go outside and play with friends. I guess our society wants kids to be more active and then when they are we chastise the parents?? If kids are constantly on a leash, how will they learn to be independent? We are creating a society of adults that are always going to need their hand held through life. Most likely the mom was probably asleep and the kid snuck out. It happens. The kid is probably just smart.
skraps-etihw adaj - Shsh. It happens. Apparently we should all shove dressers in front of all the exits
dlaregztif yecal - That must have been terrifying waking up and realizing you kids was gone. Poor woman I bet she gets better locks like today.
reip enipel eibbed - Way to many of these lately

WOWT 6 News: When a woman came back to her car in a downtown parking garage last weekend, she found two notes. One was scratched into the side of the Porsche. The other may explain why.Comments:
egap-pohsib nosilla - That's it?? WAS she double parked?? Not that that justifies anything, but, if this is what makes the news, then at least give us the whole story.
etihw cire - No one cares about this WOWT.
Lets start posting actual NEWS on the WOWT News facebook page.
aneublab emiaj - Hundreds of cars get vandalized everyday , did this one make it on the news because its a Porsche, instead of a Honda?
ffuorah naimad - Must be a slow news day.
finom eimiaj - Sorry no sympathy for some who parks poorly and drives s Porsche I'm sure it won't break their bank to have it fixed
notpmah nej - I do not condone vandalism but pull your head outta your tush and have some consideration for other people that also need to park. Just because you have a fancy car, does not mean you are exempt. I feel bad this happened but I would say Watch out for Karma.
nedohr nod - If you park like a moron you deserve it.
suark eimaj - If you can afford a Porsche you can afford to file your minor insurance claim and move on. People's cars are vandalized everyday....they don't go calling the news station...pathetic.....maybe next time you will park correctly
trebuhs samoht - Simple. Park between the lines. Yeah not worth keying a vehicle. But I don't care how much your car cost. If your afraid of damage. Leave it in a private garage.
yllibdoohazi ffej - Did it say c___ or b____? We as American's need to know..🇺🇸
dradoow ycram - My house was robbed and I could barely get a police report. How does this warrant a news story? Omaha sucks.
irun arust - There are some ridiculously rude parkers in Omaha - they take up 2 spaces, park diagonally, all sorts of things. Once, there was a person who did that on a very busy day, and just for shits, I squeezed my way into the teeeeeeny spot she allowed in the 2nd parking space. My car managed to block her ability to leave her spot, but mine was still perfectly legally parked. When she went to leave, she couldn't get out, & after a moment I went out to the car from the restaurant across the street with my keys & I was going to let her out, but then she flew into a self-entitled rampage at me.....so I turned around & went back into the restaurant & watched her rage on from inside, & she called the police, who came out & laughed at her & told her she was the one who parked like a jerk & there was nothing THEY could do about it. She ended up pulling forward & driving on the sidewalk & leaving through a side alley. Normally I wouldn't bother, because in Omaha less than this can literally get you shot or stabbed, but on this particular day it was just a source of amusement.
thgink cire - Lol this wouldn't even be news if it was someone's Ford Taurus. If you're going to spend that kind of money and don't want it dinged or scratched or anything go park out in the back 40!
hud regnar degnared airam - Three thoughts. One she probably parked badly consistently. Two the person who keyed her car has some issues. The note could of been enough. Three. Hahahahaha. :)
romuk tnerb - As opposed to 'inexpensive Porsche'.
htims nairb - If you decide to take two spots you tell everyone that you deserve twice as much as they do and you risk this type of retaliation. Vandalism is wrong and in this case it's also a bit karmic.
zias pillihp deraj - That's why I park my truck out of the way in most parking lots, I don't get hit not do I anger anyone
yug dyoll - Surprised she hasn't started a GoFundMe page for this horrible tragedy.
revird ynnig - Every fancy car/truck that takes up two parking spots because they feel privileged should have this happen to them.
Not news but I don't feel a bit sorry for her.
stok neb - Lol sucks to suck
enilenih j nylorac - It's a shame that someone would be so jealous of someone who has worked hard and gotten something nice, that they can't stand it.

WOWT 6 News: Thinking about going down a 1000 ft slip and slide in Papillion this summer? Here's what it will cost you and how you can sign up.Comments:
onalleppac assyla - 35 dollars isn't that much money to do something once in a lifetime.
ylressem leahcim - You can go to Fun Plex for half that price and go all day long!
enalrecm sille m rehtaeh - Seriously reading comments...really people it's something fun and whenever there is fun there is a risk of injury..you let your kids go to PUBLIC pools and water parks but you wouldn't let your family go here because of Bactrias...please!!! Your kids get hurt all summer long cause that's part of growing up falling off their bikes, slipping at the pool, falling off swingsets but since all that is either free or costs minimal it's okay...let your kids live a little and grown ups need to let loose a little...we live in such a negative country now it's just sad!!! I for one would love to go and I'm 37!!! These are clearly just my opinions!!!
aknovip-miehgreb acceb - $25-$35 for long lines because people from all over the city will be showing up for it. And the VIP is most likely going to be a joke, because there is no limit on the number of those sold, so your extra two hours could involve maybe an additional slide or two. I'd rather fork out $60 and go to the wine festival that day :)
snehpets yppiz enixam-nnej - 7 thousand have already RSVP'd on their event. Going to be a big thing! :)
gnirol eitak - That's ridiculous when you think about 2 kids and 2 parents..... $140 to go to Papillion. Not happening
neddeps emiaj - $35 for something fun and a reason to get off your butt? How dare they!
$35 to roll around in bacteria and water? Not like people spend $300 to roll around in mud and cow poo at Spartan Races and Tough Mudders. Rofl.
lessik yllek - Yea let's share bacteria with 30,000 other people so gross count me out
snikwah-bbew eidas - Youtube this event. Tons of videos of what it's really like. Basically a ton of people crashing into each other.
enna ellehcar - It will cost you...a ringworm infection
niwdlab ahsatan - For all of you peeps whether sliding or just hanging out...my husband will be DJing during this event in the upper loft right above The Bell Place Shops in the heart of Papillion. So think about coming out & having some summer fun!!!!
iccutram lhasremhcs annej - That is $175 for a family of 5 for 3 times down the slide after standing in line. No thanks. Might be fun and cool since it is a 'once in a lifetime' thing, but not worth it IMO.
sitiatsik eigna - Why do people always have to be negative. Fun haters. It's something new. You are never happy, are you people. Stay the heck home then and let everyone else have a good time.
ppok aivilo - I have six kids to much money, the lines and all the bacteria yikes no thank you.
ecarg dor - Price is one thing, but all of you people talking about how gross it is because of bacteria and germs remind me again what public swimming pool you've been going to again? Guess what the same thing applies.
rehctub map - I am thinking not
ylressem leahcim - Just because someone RSVP doesn't actually mean their going. There's a lot going on like outdoor concert and a wine festival!
dlaregztif yecal - It sounded kind of fun. If it was like $5 I might have take the kids.
remlap aicirtap - Set back and wait for a law suit. It will be coming. This is a train wreck.
zednanreh eirual - Bacteria is everywhere FYI
ecreip ylrebmik - That would be fun

WOWT 6 News: Big news if you're sick of potholes: Public Works will shift more than 70 employees from other projects to focus on fixing potholes. Where are you seeing the worst potholes?Comments:
sreniem ekul - 168th center east bound, terrible
lessurk eimaj - There's a few craters on Cass near 78th St...
somar nerual - 168th & Center feels like falling into a crater. Its awful.
nivac hsoj - Just go down Ames and northwest radial from 60th down. And the big pothole right by the old famous daves on 69th and Ames!!
nella elletanod annej - Maple between 180th and 204th in both directions.
naedoj asil - Near 72nd and L. A couple tried to eat my car yesterday. Is that still Omaha?
siuqram dahc - Northbound 144th from Pacific to W Dodge; Fort from 132nd to Hillsborough entrance. 144th from Fort to Ames.
kahsor jc - Pacific, 144th to 200. Mostly west bound.
nostaw luap - Sorensen Parkway from at least 60th to Fontenelle Blvd heading west-- some of the storm drains have large holes where they meet the regular payment, so that your right tires hit every one.
eflow mij - go north on 72nd street just south of Crown Pointe . . there is a pothole that is huge where you can see others were fixed and this one was somehow missed. . . be in the right/curb lane and trust me you will hit it
doow irallih - 108th from Crown Point to Military......144th from Fort to Larimore.......90th from Center to Dodge Northbound
nesnah nayr - 102nd, in between Maple and Blondo. Any neighborhood in North Omaha...
roces yelhsa - 36th st from L st to Harrison is horrible!
trawets haras - All the way down 42nd and vinton
eyeh sucram - You should hire some new employees for the summer!
ellebal illek - Southbound 72nd from Dodge to Mercy is pretty bad.
reffek enna - Everywhere, negected too long !! And the wrong fixes don't work !!
zcruk hjg ffoeg - 168 n q popped 2 tires in a hour no exaggeration
mahnob ttam - Look at all the progress our wonderful mayor has made. Cutting taxes and improving services. Wait. She hasn't? Oh. Ok. My bad. Worst snow removal in a decade and a tiny amount to boot.
pmaknenhob nek - Where do I start my list at cuz all the roads suck
maharg eed - This is POT HOLE NEBRASKA, see these signs a big O WHICH MEANS O MY GOD GOING TO FALL IN.
- Somebody F-Bombed Madeleine's Porsche with a key - carved it right into the paint. Listen to so (Type: link | Published: 2015-04-22T23:19:20+0000)
WOWT 6 News: Somebody F-Bombed Madeleine's Porsche with a key - carved it right into the paint. Listen to some of what she had to say about that and catch Joe Chiodo's full report at 10.Comments:
ssub ttocs - Not condoning any kind of vandalism here at all, there is no place for that crap. However, maybe this lady should stop thinking she is royalty and stop double parking. Just a thought.
nilrik-nospmoht refinnej - How is this newsworthy??
grubssom ydnarb - Sucking at parking or not no one should scratch someone's car on purpose let alone carve words into it. Shame on all of you who say it's the owners fault.
nworb eirrac - This is ridiculous. If this has been a beat up festiva, I doubt you would be covering this story. Find something worthwile to pay your employees to look into.
selgnijcm ytsud - Whats with all the rich white chicks whining on local news lately?
aihcrot ynnad - This shouldn't be news.
hsalpihw noillehaj - Maybe she shouldn't park like a jerk.
reip enipel eibbed - Park right and you won't piss people off. Nobody cares what you drive , just drive it right! No sympathy here.
nollid ttocs - The pampered princess can't understand why anyone would vandalize the $50, 000 Porcshe Cayenne, her "hard working" mommy and daddy gave her. She sucks at parking because she was told to doublepark her holier than thou Porcshe. Unfortunately she picked an area where parking is at a premium and alcohol is available. If you suck at parking, get training, if you still can't park it, get something else. I would venture to bet she is the same ignant odiot in the left lane driving 5 under the limit with the cell phone in her ear.
reweil nivek - Those of you who condone damaging someone's property over bad parking have issues. I don't condone parking like a jerk by any means but i sure as hell don't condone vandalism. A. It's not the car's fault. B you're worse than the person parking badly. C. A simple note will do.
Get over yourselves
drofwarc arual - Wow slow news day in Omaha. If it had been a Honda it would have never made the news
tra oinarc snikpip einalem - As much as I don't agree with vandalism. ...two things... why is this news???? AND why are we giving this woman who feels entitled enough to park incorrectly wherever she pleases attention? Had this been a Toyota or any other normal car this wouldn't have been newsworthy
nahanim reniew anitsirk - Anyone set up a gofundme account yet?
aoreugif naej eirrac - Insert eye roll. Is this news worthy? Sometimes you got to rely on karma. Sometimes it is karma.
seveels on ynnoj - How is this news?! What the "four-letter swear word" is wrong with you people?!
reztiws ramt - Oh boohoo. I hope she can get past this terribly traumatic event in her life.
otomurat llerrad - Owning a nice car doesn't give someone entitlement to park how they choose. If you truly value something you have don't draw negative attention to yourself by doing something you yourself would be upset over someone doing. No marking up the car with profanity isn't an answer either but.... Might consider yourself lucky that they didn't do worse. Park your car correctly and it wouldn't have happened. Think about it like if you do something negative that effects other people you may not want to do it. Parking is already an issue downtown don't complicate it more than it is. Hell for all we know maybe it was an ex of hers or one of her jealous girl friends she pissed off. Truth is she probably never find out. But park like that again AnD be assured someone who saw this news clip may remember her car and if she does it again it very well may happen again. Now you drew even more negative attention by going to the news. SMH
nottus senrab einaffets - Know one knows how she parked...even if wasn't to someone else's liking, they had no right to vandalize her car. I hope they can find a security camera and catch the jerk that did this!
kcorbnrov nad lem - Don't suck at parking would be the lesson here
llabmik ellehcim - This is NOT news. If you have no news then post nothing. This probably just po's people more than anything.
eel ard - Slow news day how about doing a story on world hunger and how we send so much money to other countries when we have our own starving children or a story of someone doing a kind act for others. Her world didn't come to an end because her Porsche was scratched but someone else's world really did come to an end.

- Can you believe it's been 40 years since an F4 tornado tore through the middle of Omaha? Brian (Type: video | Published: 2015-04-21T16:53:33+0000)
WOWT 6 News: Can you believe it's been 40 years since an F4 tornado tore through the middle of Omaha? Brian Mastre wants to share your stories from that day. Leave your comment below or use the hashtag #TornadoWOWT on TwitterComments:
usmot skrap adnyl - may 6th is the date why is this being presented now?
ereets nairb - Um i'm pretty sure this information is false or misleading. There was a tornado that ripped through Omaha especially in Millard about 7-10 years ago. It ran down 144th street into Millard ave. Unless of course you don't call Millard Omaha, or your stating "all of Omaha" then you would be correct. SOURCE (http://www.ketv.com/Official-EF-2-Tornado-Hits-Millard/10195974 and I was there)
rellim selhok alegna - I was 11 years old that year. I can still hear the radio personalities on KFAB announcing what was going on. I wasn't paying much attention to them, as I was only in 6th grade and trying to finish my math homework. My mom was very nervous, and told us to get our shoes and head downstairs. I was annoyed because I had 2 pages of math fractions to do. Ten minutes after we got downstairs, it hit! It was an overwhelming feeling of sheer panic. We thought we were going to die. My mom prayed as the tornado ripped through our neighborhood.YES, it does sound like a freight train! Our family lived at 70th and Blondo. It was a surreal life experience that will never be forgotten, especially the sounds of the sirens, then and now. My dad was working and wasn't home at that time. After everything was said and done, he made his way home. As he got closer, the damage was more intense. He had to park at 70th and Maple, and started to make his way home. the closer he got the worse the damage. He ran close to 1 mile and 1/2 through nothing but piles of rubble and debris. He thought we were all dead. That was the first time I saw him cry. Thank God above we came out unscathed, our house and neighbors, not so much. Our neighbor, Mrs. Baker, was one of the causalities. She was found in our backyard. Our priest from St. Pius X, Fr. Broderson, gave her the last rites. RIP. Such a horrible, horrible day.
kihcnih brab - I was in 5th grade at Westgate school. During reading class...a few of us started to whisper about how weird the clouds looked. We got in trouble and had to miss recess. A man came though the backdoor of our class and told us...if the sirens go off...go to the bathrooms...not the library. All of our tornado drills included us going to the sixth grade library to hide under the tables. No one knew who this man was...not even the principal. That day...they made us go home 15 minutes early with a very STERN warning...GO HOME....EVERYONE...GO HOME. We ran through the field that day as our house is backed up to Pipal Park. I can still see the colors of the clouds and the way they were swirling around in the sky. When I came home...my brother, Jim Hinchik, was not home yet. My Mom sent my sister to pick him up from Arbor Height. My brother John was supposed to show up for work at 4:00 PM at Red Lobster on 72nd Street. Thankfully...he didnt go. The sirens went off around 4:15? My brother took a picnic table and some placed it over an old couch. All of us got under the "fort" they had built. My Mom was even with us. This was a miracle because she never ever went into the basement during a tornado warning. I remember lots of thing when all the debris from Pipal Park hit our house...especially all of us saying the, Our Father....and crashing...and the pressure...this weird feeling of being sucked up....and then it was over. And when we came up from the basement...the reality of it all began......
resiak nad - I was 14 years old and out of my 54 years, that's the one memory that's as fresh in my mind as if it were yesterday.
Got out of school and in little over an hour I looked inside the F4 beast as it lifted our house off of the foundation.
I working with the old Westgate gang on this years 40th reunion at Pipal Park.
Our neighborhood was uncommonly close and many when they grew up come back to raise their family.
It was the best neighborhood to grow up in. And it can be shown by how many moved out after the storm.
As far as I know nobody moved.
Can't wait for the reunion to get everyone back together.
worrah'o nyliram - I was working around 73rd and Mercy Road in 1975 and saw the tornado hit Bergan Mercy Hospital and seeing the Mercy Care Center down the street get it's windows blown out. I did not get home from work until after 7:30--had to find a different route home (lived near 100 & Q at the time). Husband worked for the NE Dept of Roads and helped with cleanup afterwards. I saw some of the damage to houses near our apt (about where it all began but we were not affected) and took a few pics that I still have today in an album.
ennissim ffej yhtac - Was in high shool and thought the clouds were weird when we got out. Got on the bus to go home and the hail started to fall. Huge hail. The bus driver wouldn't let us off the bus until it stopped. When it did we (my sister and I) ran home and my mom was worried because everyone including my grandma was at my aunts house in Ralston for a birthday party. We found out later that they went to the basement and Wentworth apartment roof part of it ended up in their backyard. My mom and I watched the tornado come toward us after hitting Grandmothers restaurant, but there was a drop off between us and the tornado and it turned, went across the interstate and down 72nd street. We saw three vortexes when it was coming.
sreknap adnil - I lived in Westgate and my Dad and I watched it form and saw three tails on it. I asked my Dad if that was birds and he said it was debris. He thought it was going over to Iowa but it came back jumped over the interstate and was coming our way. We ran down stairs and the part of the basement ceiling was being sucked up so my Dad took us all in another part of the basement where glass was coming in and pieces went into my sister and my head. She also was struck in the arm by a board. It was so loud and sounded like a train. You could here all the windows breaking and things crashing. When it was over total silence. My Dad used a stepladder to get out of the basement because it totally uprooted our from tree into a deep perfect hole and landed on our car. What was weird was my Mom's bible survived. There was nothing left on our street looked like a bomb hit it with alot of us crying. I am now married and my children are grown and they don't understand when I hear the sirens go off I panic. It is something I will never forget and I hope I never have to go through again.
htimsp naej - Just thinking of that day is bringing tears to my eyes. I was 14, and I had just gotten home from school. We lived at 108th and Blondo. I remember looking at the sky and watching the huge anvil cloud forming, turning dark iron-green and I thought to myself, "this is gonna be BAD!". I have never seen an anvil cloud since that was so frightening, and I hope I never do!
My sisters and I went to the neighbors house, because they had a sub-basement, my mom was at work at John Kraft on Crown Point- I think she wanted us to be with our neighbors to keep us from being so scared. We sat in the basement listening to the radio reports and descriptions of the mayhem. I have a vivid imagination and was picturing everything like I was there. It was just awful.
When it was over we heard that our grandmother's neighborhood at 67th & Pratt St had been in the path. We went to see if she and my cousin were OK. The sight we beheld was nothing short of astonishing. Neighboring houses had been ripped to shreds, imploded, lost roofs or been set back from their foundations. My grandmother's house, however, was saved by her huge elm tree. The tornado had caught the tree and twisted it around more than 360 degrees, dropping it in her front yard, just missing the house. Later the Forestry Department came and took photos. They said that it was probably because of the tree taking all the force of the storm that all the other houses on the block were spared.
From there the tail lifted and went over to the ballfields at Benson Park. It knocked over some light standards, but that was about the end of the trail of destruction.
We spent the next week helping with clean-up. The local churches and Red Cross organized meal kitchens for clean-up workers and provided much needed support for those that were left homeless.
selyob yllol - There was another tornado that my mom talks about. She is 89, but this happened when she was a young girl, it happened on Easter Sunday, the tornado went down LAKE street, and a lot of people were killed then too. Let us not forget those people either
reppin naj - I went to Nathan Hale Jr. High School, Ninth Grade, and my brother Jim was at Northwest. Our mother picked us up to take us home after the school day was over. My brother Paul was home on leave from the Army. We got home shortly before the sirens started. Some recollections have gotten cloudy that day (pun unintended), but the main thing that stuck in my mind is that I had never seen green clouds before, and I had never seen and heard continuous thunder and lightning. I am and was disabled at that time and so my brothers needed to help me down to the basement. Thank goodness my oldest brother was home. We hid under a heavy desk. We had a small dog, Linus, who had been with us during other tornado warnings, but his actions were peculiar. He was frantically running around and howling, which was something he wasn't prone to doing. We felt the pressure affecting our ears. Fortunately we lived a mile north of Benson Park, where the tornado finally lifted, so we weren't impacted, aside from finding debris in our yard. We found papers from the Ralston Bank. Another thing I remember was the air force jets flying over taking aerial photos of the damage shortly after the storm was over. And finally the bubbly clouds after the storm was over was really impressive.
kcirb yduj - I was at home with my kiddos living at Franklin St and Saddle Creek. I took the kids to the basement as soon as the sirens went off. I remember looking out the basement window and seeing siding falling in the rain. Where we were living there wasn't any direct damage from the tornado, but we got a lot of the fallout. The next day we noticed a lot of glass, tree limbs, and other debris in our yard.
yrartnoc yram - I was 17 and working near 55th and Grover. I was heading out the door after my shift and told to stay and help because there was a tornado. A group of us gathered and watched the tornado from the back door of the building. I remember a co-worker asking why birds were flying around it. Someone told her it was debris and not birds. I've lived in Nebraska most of my life and that is the only tornado I have ever seen.
nosnets llocsird yecats - My dad's office was just south of 72nd and Dodge. The tornado leveled buildings on either side of it, but it was as if it went up and over his building. I'd left school that day and gone to a friend's house, because my parents were in Lincoln. They rushed home to find me missing, with no idea of where I was, of course no cell phones, regular phone lines down....I finally made it home, having to take quite the circuitous route because of all the trees, debris and power lines down, hours later. I've never seen anything like it since then, thank goodness. And other than helping friends with clean up, I was grounded for a long, long time.
eegcm eus - I was 9 years old and lived in Council Bluffs. I remember the sky being a horrible greenish black color. The air was so still. My brother-in-law is a farmer and he stood on the front porch, watching the storm move in while our whole family waited in the basement. I remember a horrible sound, and my Mom being so upset, but I didn't really understand it all.
noxocliw evets - it was a bad one for sure. it wiped out the area of 72 & dodge ,look like a war zone
ttucyenoh nerak - I was lucky and at home that day. If I would have been at work I would have been at Blond Plaza working. They had some windows broken out in the Plaza acct of winds of course. I was a hair dresser back then and learned a lot of horror stories from my customers afyetwarfs. On one lady I had to carefully remove glass from her hair and scalp. It took us a couple weeks to get it all. Had to wait for some of the embedded stuff to fester. But don't forget that was also the year we had that terrible blizzard and the mayor waited too long to let people go home. What a disaster that was too.
lekce eibbed - Wow I was 13 years old then but I do remember it so well like it was yesterday I remember going to Omaha a few days after it happen and it was like a war happens there it was so bad then July 1988 the tornado that hit Council Bluffs it was so bad me and my dad was out looking at the clouds when all of a sudden my Dad started to yell get in the house get everyone in the basement I had just got my family and my baby girl who was almost 1 years old now she is 27 down in the basement dad got in the house when the backdoor slammed shut he tried pulling open because dad said if not our house would have been gone about that time the door came open slamming him up against the counter then he got down to the basement we seen things fly by the window then the sound was so loud then when it was over me and my dad went up to look oh it was so bad.
nitteb ettenna - I remember this well. I still have the newspapers. It was devastating I was a sophomore in high school. Helped with clean up and got out of school for a week. Our house lost windows and our neighbors on both sides lost everything, the neighbor on one side only had the toilet standing and the one across the street had only the refrigerator standing. I will never forget!
ekined teragram - I was 16. My family's homes weren't in the path of the destruction, but we were able to leave school and help with the cleanup that week. They had busses that took us to different areas each day. We worked along side of those who lost their homes & heard their personal stories.
ikslyt nek - I live in a home that was leveled by that tornado

WOWT 6 News: The promise of free money sounded tempting at first but then an Omaha grandmother turned the tables on the caller promising her thousands.Comments:
zenitram hsams kluh sucram - So.....how did she scam them again?
yttoc asereht - I was expecting her having a clever idea and getting their card numbers or something along those lines
redyns bor - She didn't scam them. She just didn't fall for their scam.
snave .g retep - Headline written poorly to get clicks?
ztirf ekim - So she gave them a card number which potentially could be someone else's working card number. Nice going.
smailliw d icram - Seriously people. She gave them a fake number. If it was that easy to make up a real number the scammers wouldn't have to call anyone. They would make one up all the time and just say oh gosh...look it works. Really????
nabru islovil ehtac - Put them on hold while you find your card. Then go out to dinner.
ecam ytsrik - i do this all the time in my best Russian accent
relis relis - How is this a scam? How is this NEWS?
ejttes mailliw - Yep that be my mother she's pretty good and I got the same call and kept asking them why do I have to pay for a government grant they are free
eztit yrrej - Glad she didn't get taken but she did not turn the tables on them. Did she get money? No. Did she get them arrested? No. Did she prevent them from trying again? No. The outcome here is the same as NOT receiving the call in the first place!
eel nivek - " The caller told her to give provide a credit card number so they could deposit the money" Who writes this, a second grader?
remseb haras - I would have just told them off and reported them to the police, giving them a "fake" credit card number could potentially be someone else's cc # resulting in another victim being scammed unknowingly, and losing money. But good for her for not falling for it!
ocir enaid - i screw with them too take up their time it pisses them off for a change. i still think it should be illegal for them to call cell phones people have to pay for their minutes and they will not remove your number no matter how many times you ask them to. and the do not call list doesn't work
nostaw yelrihs - I had a text just this week telling me my bank card at Mutual of Omaha Credit Union had be suspended! I am retired. I haven't worked at Mutual since 1972 but United has my pension. I have no card with them.
ocir enaid - and it should be illegal to sell my name address and phone number that is my personal stuff and my business if they get to make money on my personal stuff then i want paid for it too
ekztelok ttam - Your headlines suck! Tell me again how she scammed the con artist?!?
ahonal auhsoj - The only scam here is the one Wowt created. Once again, great job.
llerraf'o leafar - So smart of her to give them a fake credit card number, REALLY?
ttarb lehcar - How did she scam them exactly???
ograp aicital - i hate them calls

nosnhoj leveink eigna - How about opd focuses on finding the person who busted in my window and stole $2000 and my identity? How come his face doesn't make the news?
naahed ffej - Can't wait to see the #thuglife video of him walking into a gas station wearing a State Troopers hat!
dragob innob - I bet the value of the hat is now high enough that it's a felony. Meanwhile the deputy with Douglas County (now fired) who forced a 19 year old to give him oral while on duty only gets a misdemeanor.
drag eneg - How is this news worthy, buy another hat.
ngised elyod - new photo of suspect released
legov hcir - Least its better than hearing nicco Jenkins,24/7
srednas yhtomit - Meanwhile, 4 people have been fatally shot in Omaha.
nesretep ynot - There's a new sheriff in town.
nosdrahcir edamdog ekul - Because disrespecting an officer is a crime punishable by death. But hey, if you're a child molester, you get 2 years and some probation. How dare you steal an officers hat!
nrublih eisor - Have you seen my baseball?
ahonal auhsoj - Wish the authorities put this much effort into solving real crimes.
regeilv ymerej - Wasn't this an episode of the Dukes?
namein-llag yerac - At first, I thought he did that Kylie Jenner lip challenge! (those lips)
senöj etan - THE TEAR TATS REPRESENT MISSING HATS
fluw asil - Looks like his upper lip got caught in a fishing hook. Haha!
rellim noraa - This is too funny. 😂😂😂
ketsom pokorp assilem - What a loser. The IA trooper was nice and gave him a ride to Omaha. Could have just left him on the interstate!! Looks like a real winner too.
sotnas .g ziul - Oh no.... He stole a trooper's. How is the trooper going to hide his bald spot now?
eirhtug nahtanoj - He looks like a mf retard
mailliw tloc - It's old because they still haven't caught him ha ha.
grebol niloc - he doesn't have a hat in the photo. seems like an open and shut case

WOWT 6 News: 57-year-old Alexander Ross, a registered sex offender, charged with the sexual assault of a 13-year-old.Comments:
doowtseh etak - I will never understand why they let sex offenders out. Having to register does nothing but slap them on the wrist. No surprise that this vile, sorry excuse hurt another child.
llabmik ellehcim - Castrate the pervert!!
enrubhsaw bq irehc - One shot, one kill, done.
noskcire noj - Shoot him. He wont do it again.
gnileud-yhprum eisus - I have a 13 year old daughter and if it had been my baby girl. ...I'd be the one wearing orange.
prahs acissej - No jail....just kill them. You've literally killed a child's innocence you deserve to die. Plain and simple.
nella mada - If you look at the statistics pedophilia is the crime that is committed the most from past offenders. There is no cure, nor rehabilitation from this line.
rolyat eklhad nya - The first person to post about how being a pedophile is a disease and him needing help is getting throat chopped.
78% are brought up on charges again. And since it is thought that only 10% of these acts are reported the 78% number is onlt scratching the surface on actual number of offenders. Castration is to good for them. String him up.
yenkcits yram - they should never be let out
llirrem nesnej adnil - Cut it off and nail it to his forehead!
noslen essej - There needs to be a nation wide ZERO TOLERANCE LAW! ONE STRIKE YOUR OUT! Minimum 20 years with no parole! Need to build" prisons" just for them to go to...the judges who hand down these weak sentences are just as sick and messed up for being so lenient!!! Your a judge u can throw the book at em! SO DO IT!!!!!#cutitoff
nodgnal-yehsreh nonnahs - Death penalty for all child molesters. Period.
setay nahgem - First he preyed on college students at the university of Georgia, then highschool age violin students, and now children. I'm sick that this has been going on for so many years without more than a slap on the wrist in 2007. Glad justice is finally being served. This has been going on for too many years. So sad that another innocent girl got hurt before they finally arrested him.
zenitram haras - What judge was responsible for his short sentence?
nessaam ztoh ycram - They don't change no matter how long the judges put them im prison fix them them give them life with no parole this judge or prison parole team just made it possible for this to happen. Change the. Laws
nworb ennazus - Send that loser to Iraq...
evorg rellim eirrac - The sentences for these things are way too short. Probably got 5 years for a third degree assault deal the last time in a plea bargain. And he probably got good time which cuts that five down to 2 1/2 and probably got off with time served.
tlawaneerg rehpotsirhc - Waste of life. Only in america do tbese kind of people get catered too.
ebaccm azil - Not surprised. They keep small time drug dealers in jail longer than a pedophile that raped a young girl or boy. And they say we have the greatest justice system in the world. What justice?
yenruof ardnas - probably an easy target due to his past. God save his soul
esahc tanir - 1 baseball bat, 2 swings, 3 minutes...that's all I'll need with him!

WOWT 6 News: TRENDING: A Silverback gorilla charged and cracked the glass at an exhibit at the Henry Doorly Zoo. We'll stream a live news conference shortly.Comments:
nosrettap ahanet - Breaking news. Exhibits tired of being exhibits...
lesiam yeloms aras - This has happened before and will happen again. I don't think a news conference is necessary....Maybe a conference on parenting and respect is needed.
noslrac inalem - I really hope the gorilla wasn't injured. People need to learn to not taunt these guys. They are wild animals, not domesticated house pets.
smailliw ylrebmik - She was taunting the gorilla. It is her parents responsibility to prevent that. He did nothing wrong and the only thing newsworthy is that people of all ages need to respect the animals.
nessnaj netsirk - Maybe people should be educated on the fact that chest beating is a sign of intimidation among gorilla's, especially adult males. He probably felt threatened and reacted as such. After all, this is his home and he is just trying to defend it.
namdiw asil - First of all that little girl was pounding on her chest not waving. Every time we walk through there there are idiots in there teasing them, hitting the glass and acting like complete morons. If I was that Silver Back I would have done the exact same thing. This is my favorite animal and I just hate going into that exhibit because of all the immature people who don't know how to teach their children how to respect each and every living animal that they are looking at. The idea that they think it is funny is disturbing in itself.
ecam ellac - 1st of all she didnt pound the glass she pounded HER CHEST like gorillas do
neddafcm naes - What they are not telling you is that it's a female gorilla and she is going through " the change ". Forgot to take her hormones last night!!!!! Happens everyday from coast to coast. Women going CRAZY!!!! Lol
renhgiel leoj - They need to put a barrier do people can't pound on the glass. If he got out he would be euthanized. Bc he would have killed many people
ecirp-enirts einahpets - I like the idea of one way glass because kids will be kids and animals will be animals...why does there have to be finger pointing at all?
llasdrib ellehcim - I am not surprised! I have seen the way the kids and even adults act towards these animals and it is terrible! Parents let their kids pound on the glass and it bothers the poor WILD animals. Parents need to learn how to control their kids and teach them how to respect WILD animals! People shouldn't be allowed to get close to the glass anyway! All people need to remember that these are wild animals with wild tendencies and need to be respectful of their space!
hctif ycart - Yet another example of a captive animal getting frustrated by existing in a prison while being taunted by children on the other side of the glass.
remlap etan - Lol people are blaming this on bad parenting, saying the child was taunting....Get a life
erusarf ymmat - People need to stop letting their kids bang on the glass and terrorizing these animals!
kesuobres d ynot - I trust the gorilla will be held responsible and charged with criminal mischief and pay for the cracked window. . . .
gnol eisus - Who made him mad? He wants to be free!
eegcm eus - People need to teach their kids to respect the animals. They might be in a zoo, but they are STILL WILD ANIMALS and deserve our RESPECT. Jeez.
redleg nav hannah - This was actually on yahoo news too. From what I understand the gorilla had been fighting with another gorilla immediately before this so was already pretty pissed off. Add that to the idiots banging on their chests and the glass and this is what you get.
redart adnama - So sad. Poor Gorilla. He wants to be free from those annoying hackling people!!!
senoj-regay nonnahs - Teach your kid not to be disrespectful to these animals ...
nospmas ellehcim - there should be a barrier so that kids can't be tapping on the glass like that. I would be frustrated too! It's sad the best shot they have at life now is in a zoo for these animals.

WOWT 6 News: A gorilla at the Henry Doorly Zoo startled visitors when it charged at and hit a window with enough force to crack the glass.Comments:
fulak einahpets - The gorilla did nothing wrong and the parents should have thought for a second that maybe they shouldn't allow their child to use actions that display alpha behavior to an obvious alpha male gorilla. Obviously it would piss him off and he would react.
nesretep rehtaeh - Not the first time this has happened. People need to realize these are wild animals and are confined.
edirbcm nire - Do you blame the poor thing? They are powerful creatures and while I am all for helping endangered species, I'd crack the glass if people stared at me all day and banged on the glass.
kevlok nhoj yram esor - Poor baby....So sad locked up and being bothered by people.
eel acissej - It's his entertainment. He enjoys watching us just as much as we enjoy watching him. He does this a lot, I think he finds it quite entertaining. People need to stop getting so uptight, he's just trying to amuse himself. He normally doesn't do it hard enough to break the glass. People think these animals are stupid, they're not. He's a bored gorilla who gets his entertainment from us humans. If you think you're the only creature on this planet who gets amusement from other species you're wrong. Gorillas are highly intelligent, they're like us in the sense that they thrive on entertainment, they have to be entertained in order to be happy, he's entertaining himself. Chill out.
kcimroccm asereht - This is sad. Poor gorillas.
navillus vek - He just wants to be hugged, is that so wrong!?!??! lol!
snehpets kered - I say we let the kid and the gorilla duke it out. Two creatures enter, one creature leaves. THUNDERDOMMMME
akfuslo eserf eimaj - Maybe just maybe these animals should not be kept behind glass walls all day everyday. They do not belong confined in these zoos. When something terrible happens - the glass breaks completely and someone is injured then maybe society will be forced to rethink institutionalizing these animals.
lien nibor - Totally agree with one way glass. And if not strong enough use what they have then build a place for a second piece of glass that is one way. These animals don't need to be teased or taunted just live their life peacefully as possible there.
elliven yenaer yoj - Animals have bad days too. Hope he is okay!!
yelims imim - Well when u force wild animals to be gawked at by stupid humans.....
uoyelbuod leoj - Jimmies: rustled.
mahgninnuc nosaj - usually they act like that when certain zoo keepers walk by in henery dorly uniforms they must abuse them or tease them somehow f the zoo
gitter leira - Poor thing!! He needs to be release!! And people need to teach their children respect when they're at the zoo!! These poor animals don't have a choice in the matter of being there! They need to be treated better!!
yenkcits semaj - If I had a life sentence without the possibility of parole and my only crime was for being who I am I'd break out too. Please don't support this by buying tickets please don't teach your children this is okay. Thank you everyone have a wonderful weekend
zerauj ainos - Same thing happened a few years ago. But it was a couple taunting the gorilla. So it reacted like that.
sicnarf llehctim - A lot of the lowland gorillas in zoos were raised in captivity and wouldn't last a week in the wild. I also worked at the Henry Doorly Zoo as a docent for five years. There are gorilla social rules people need to know, such as chest pounding being a challenge and don't make direct eye contact with one. It's not that hard.
snave nhoj - He's pissed and tired of hearing he's related to us.......... :p
eroom alegna - Oh jeez people. The girl and gorilla were playing. Lighten up
sizab retsof asil - they did not say if they will fix it soon . he got 2 more to break to get out

redarhs hcirdoog sirhc - This makes me want to puke. No matter how much a business says they have fixed all violations noted in their health department report, this alone will seal the deal that I would NEVER step foot in a place like this again.
snikwah mas - I got this when I ate there.
legna aigroeg - Stop eating out people cook at home its nasty out there lol
relgaep eer'al enaid - ?? Umm....if you lost a band aide in the food and KNEW it..?? TOSS the BATCH AWAY!.. DUH!

nosnah bob - I see a new Yo Gabba Gabba song coming up

zerreitug anaid - That's gross. Food should be handle with food safety gloves at all times.

redam eemia - Shut these guys down! Gross! Who knows what else is going on!
