- Do you think negative campaign ads have any credibility? Have any swayed your decision on who (Type: photo | Published: 2014-10-30T12:05:04+0000)
WOWT 6 News: Do you think negative campaign ads have any credibility? Have any swayed your decision on who to vote for or not to vote at all? wowt.com/a?a=280763272Comments:
rita denson - The negative ads from Lee Terry made me NOT vote for him
scott littky - Tell the voters what you will do, not what is wrong with your opponent!!!😁
tom marble - I've heard it said that if an incumbant has to stoop to negative campaign ads, its a sign of his or her lack of accomplishments in office
amber durand - I don't fall into that crap. I do my research. I look for the facts and vote accordingly.
pat byers weddle - There is no useful information in campaign ads, so don't listen to them.
stephanie wendt sobotka - So far this election I've figured out that if you vote for a dem...you're voting for Obama. If you vote repub you're voting to give the Koch brothers more money. NO ONE is running on what they plan on doing...they are ALL running on the "I'm not the other guy" platform.
pat mucha-lakin rybin - I am sick of all the ads...PERIOD !!!
michael heather cowell - All the negative comments and competitor bashing has taken away from why they are really running in the first
Place. Lets not hear what others have done, tell us how you plan to make things right for the people you are serving!
pete boncordo - No. Only to uneducated voters does this work
tonya frazee-frank - Can they just ban ads from tv all together? They are highly annoying and they play the same ones over and over!
wanda hoffmann neuman - Do your research on each candidate then vote accordingly. Really think it through and don't let campaign ads influence you.
michael spiegelman - Lee Terry's negative ads only reinforce my vote for Ashford. They show the type of person Lee Terry really is.
chris gilliland - I personally don't watch or listen to the ads. I read, research, and make my decisions.
scott henderson - Scare tactics work on me, because my brain is small...
donna robinson steensen - I grew up in Omaha...live in Iowa now...isn't it just great that we're all subjected to ads on both sides of the river? (insert sarcasm) However if I were voting in NE Lee Terry would be gone...worst campaign ads ever!! :/
jack yerton - All I can say is thank God for DVR and the trash can on the way from the mail box. I don't watch or listen to any of them. And I'm not voting for one single incumbent this election. I wish more people would do the same.
michael conoan - I am so sick of seeing Niko Jenkins' face on my TV screen. Such imagery doesn't make me feel good about the candidate showing it to me nonstop.
william johnson - There is no such thing as a honost politician. It shows in the ad campaigns. They spend most of their time spreading negativity instead of dealing with the real issues and trying to solve them.
alice stuart martin - Not just the ads, it's all the phone calls. I have been getting 5 a day for two weeks now. If I get one more call for Brad Assford I'm going to scream.
dee gibbs bennett - In the past few weeks, I have learned that I will NEVER vote for Lee Terry after seeing his disgusting ads.
jarra poe - Hate the negative ads. I don't think they are any credit to a person who approves such things. After all, if they're doing that before the election, makes me wonder how they'd act once in office. Haven't heard much positive from nearly all the candicates.
- NEW OVERNIGHT: An alleged intruder is in critical condition after being shot by a homeowner in (Type: link | Published: 2014-10-29T10:05:07+0000)
WOWT 6 News: NEW OVERNIGHT: An alleged intruder is in critical condition after being shot by a homeowner in north Omaha. Click the link to learn more.Comments:
brandon scherer - The right to self defense shall not be infringed.
bethann weniger - It's sad to hear about a home invasion, and someone being shot, but I'm glad that the trend is homeowner's defending themselves. It's better than reading about five homeowners being shot and killed during a break in. Maybe if we show would be intruders what they're likely to encounter, the number of invasions will drop. The only thing I would add, is maybe we should stop spending taxpayer dollars rushing them to the hospital after they get shot, and stop footing the bill for putting them up in a gated community luxury hotel, aka prison. They don't deserve better treatment than our veterans or our elderly. We need harsher punishment as a deterrent to crime.
martha west bosworth - I'm glad homeowners are protecting themselves. I'm sick of all the breakins around town. Maybe if the criminals realized this could happen to them they will stop. We all should be protecting our families, esp against those who are criminals like this guy. Good job homeowner.
judy scarlett - People are just fed up with crime, a person can't feel safe in their own home anymore and are doing whatever it takes to protect it. I say, hooray for them!!
teresa rosso - Glad to see more homeowners are protecting themselves =)
tiffany poloncic - Good job! I hope all homeowners are able to defend themselves against robbers. Maybe there will be less break-ins then.
rose vera - Another one bites the dust!
jamie krussel - Not surprising that it's the 6th home invasion to get violent in the past 2 months... because people are sick and tired of being robbed! SICK OF IT! Maybe these losers will eventually get a clue. People are arming themselves and they aren't scared to fight back.
jaime spedden - He didn't actually break in, yes. He was stopped before he could. And let's go ahead and ignore the fact that he got in a fight with the homeowner... So many people on here so anti gun that they have to try to throw a pity party for a criminal.
brian mcneff - What ? citizens with guns not afraid to use them to protect themselves ? what a decidedly un liberal situation ! Notify Mayor Bloomberg
wichman david - Maybe the "smarter" criminals will realize, their days could be numbered and they may just end up dead tonight, tomorrow or this weekend. ..and change their ways....If not..well there is plenty of open plots in cemeteries if they choose to continue their scumbag way of life.
doc warren - Sends a good message to would be thieves.
shirley bell - good for the homeowner, not the intruders house, stay the hell away!
manda harrel - He never made INTO the house though.
lisa a. kessler - If more Home Owners would shoot these scum bags breaking into their house maybe they would stop.
peggy nielsen - Maybe some idiots will think twice about breaking in and get a job and support themselves or maybe get shot in the process. You don't know who has a gun to protect their family and property.
bud earith - If you are gonna dance, you got to pay the fiddler!
gayla schulte - I know if someone breaks in my home
I WILL SHOOT!!
taylor burkum - I've said it once and I'll say it again. When you enter someone's house uninvited, you'd better be ready to die. Hopefully all of these idiots start learning from their friends' deaths. And quit following suit.
You threaten someone's life. you deserve what you get.
jessica maese - I am proud of the fact that anyone is prepared to protect themselves and their families period. Those who are anti-gun are those who know nothing about them and how they work (afraid of the unknown).
phyllis pfeifer - Good for the homeowner.
- A nurse from Maine in isolation after treating Ebola patients in West Africa says she's prepare (Type: photo | Published: 2014-10-29T13:05:13+0000)
WOWT 6 News: A nurse from Maine in isolation after treating Ebola patients in West Africa says she's prepared to go to court if the state tries to quarantine her. Kaci Hickox says if the restrictions aren't lifted by Thursday, she will go to court to fight for her freedom. She says the quarantine policies are "not scientifically or constitutionally just." Do you agree?Comments:
carol willmore - It's 21 days.......she can't sacrifice 21 days to make sure she don't infect thousands of people....I think this is a little selfish in her part.....
sara smoley maisel - 21 days in a hospital when you have knowingly been around Ebola...By choice...Is not that drastic....What happens when they let her go and she tests positive next week?
john scott stevens sfg ii - It's ironic that despite being a health care worker she has little to no regard for the health risk she wants to expose others to.
Choices have consequences.
She volunteered to expose herself to the deadly and infectious Ebola. The logical consequence of her choice to maintain public safety is precautionary quarantine. The trend set by her selfless act of caring for Ebola victims and stopping the spread of the disease should be continued with 21 more days of selflessness.
Her right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness stops when her actions infringe upon the same rights of others.
sally mikat - She needs to grow up. Our 4000 troops were told they have to go through a mandatory 30 day quarantine before being allowed to come home...you don't hear them complaining. You would think the whole " for the greater good" mentality would prevail. Very selfish woman.
rhonda gentzler harris - As an RN myself this just infuriates me! She went to West Africa to help Ebola patients WILLINGLY so kudos for that part. However, where is her common sense, medical knowledge and professionalism?! This is not only selfish on her part but a disgrace to the nursing profession! Where also is her advocacy to be safe and not put others at risk. 21 days is nothing compared to the guilt she should feel if she was not quarantined and did test positive. She needs to put on her big girl panties and grow up!
lisa reda - Let her go, and if she is the cause of getting anyone over here sick, hold her criminally liable.
lisa reseter - She should be in quarentine. It take 21 days for symptoms to show. She was working WITH ebola patients, she should have self quarentined instead of throwing a fit.
leah cisneros - She's selfish! Its 21 freaking days! Put your big girl panties on and suck it up!
kelly williams - If you want to treat Ebola patients - you take the consequences - get a brain in that frizzy head of yours!
sarah delzeit - If people who go to africa aren't prepared to be quarantined when they come back, then they should have to stay over there.
mary casey - I think she is being very unprofessional. While I very much appreciate her service to help Ebola victims, she knew what she was getting into and as a nurse, she should be willing to,protect her family and those around her. I am a nurse and would do that. Heck...kick back, read, do your Christmas cards, write some letters........take a Calgon bath!
rodney schwieger - She just wants to be famous ... it's the American way. Duct tape her house shut, tell her you will come get her for her court hearing scheduled three weeks from now.
lissa jones - I would volunteer to be quarantined if it were me, I would want to know!!
william johnson - Send her back to Africa
jessica west - After listening to the story, knowing that when the quarantine started she had a fever of 101, yes she should stay under quarantine for the 21 days. The virus can present itself at any time during the 21 days. And while she is testing negative now, doesn't change the fact that she had a fever, and her 21 days isn't up until the 10th, which leaves plenty of time for the virus to manifest.
toma noremad - No I don't and for the safety of others and herself she should stay quarantined. If they let her go she might as well be the walking dead.
sherry mackland poloncic - She chose to go to go there. She was willing to risk her life to help others but now she is fighting an action to prevent risking others to what she may have been exposed to. Makes absolutely no sense to me. And 21 days isn't the end of the world. I agree - get over yourself.
carly ziemer - Being that the 21 day quarantine is CDC guidelines, she can (and should) have her license suspended or lose it all together. As a registered nurse she has an obligation to patient safety, and by not abiding by the quarantine rules she's putting everyone at risk.. even if it isn't transmitted by air.
Also, she says her living conditions when she was quarantined at the hospital were "inhumane"... she just came from Africa and was being kept in a climate-controlled tent with running water and wifi access... you'd think she'd be a little bit more grateful...
debbie lepine pier - Don't agree..she is selfish and needs to think of the big picture and not just herself. Lives are at risk.
As a nurse she should know better. It comes with the job! !!
traci jo - If she can't handle 21 days in isolation I vote give her a one way ticket back to Africa.
mackenzie lynn - If you are treating people who have Ebola, and you come back to the states, you better be in quarantine!! What's wrong with this chick?!
- Alleged intruder killed at 31st and Newport in Omaha identified as 41-year-old Lee Harvey

WOWT 6 News: Alleged intruder killed at 31st and Newport in Omaha identified as 41-year-old Lee Harvey wowt.com/a?a=280749772Comments:
april reeves - Notice to future intruders...... I am armed! 🔫 I will shoot you. I will shoot to kill. I will not feel bad. I will not pray for your soul or your family.
You have been warned!
deana mckeehan hill - I think they used "alleged" because he was found a couple of blocks away when he had collapsed . If my understanding is right he was shot when on the front porch trying to get into this persons home .
The way I see it my house is protected by the good lord and a gun ,try to come in uninvited you're going to meet one!
brian gilmore - My neighbor was the one who shot and killed this man. Hope all other (thieves and criminals) take note - we (Upland Terrace, Florence, Miller Park, Minne Lusa and surrounding areas) WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS NONSENSE! Be advised.
nathaniel fengel - He was such a good man and he was turning his life around. He was trying to find Jesus. Oops. Guess he found him.
rose vera - Well with a name like LEE HARVEY, you're bound to make some major $&@#ed up decisions.
lora hardiman - Maybe intruders will start to get the picture, more and more people are protecting themselves and not afraid to use their weapons!
conchita tolles - Was he invited in? No.
Was he in the house when shot? Yes.
Not alleged! !
michelle d tallant - We are ARMED and we will NOT TOLERATE you coming on to our property to try to rob or steal from us. We are the tax paying, law abiding, God fearing, GUN TOTING citizens of Omaha and we STAND READY to enforce our right to protect ourselves and our families!!!!! Any questions?
tammy frasure - Glad homeowners are finally taking a stand! Better believe our house is armed and the same thing would happen if someone tried to break into our home! If our pitty doesn't scare them off first ;)
lindsey leblanc - Id like to thank that home owner for doing the right thing in protecting their family and home, but also for saving the tax payers a ton of money!
dave moore - I don't think this intruder paid much attention to the news as of late.
debra hirsh jacobson - Picture says it all.
tony lave - All the people defending this guy seem to forget that it was 2 IN THE MORNING! No one with good intentions goes prowling around someone else's porch at 2a.m.. Someone earlier noted that of there was enough time to go out and shoot, there was enough time to call the police. Note to that: response time is usually in excess of 5 minutes. An intruder can break into a house and murder the homeowner within seconds. The police would only show up to take a report, meanwhile intruder/murderer gets away free and clear.
karen murray - My husband and I just back from the indoor range. We will go once a week. We will be prepared to protect each other!
andrew keffer - If he had time to go outside to kill the man he had time to call the police! This is murder 1 !
traci hermes - don't be surprised if the homeowner is charged in this case. why? because the man was not inside of the home.
now before you crucify me let me just say this. up until the 1st of may of this year i lived in a not so nice area of peoria IL and i kept a 9mm beretta with a loaded magazine under my bed, and would have used it if i would have had to.
i'm seeing a lot of irresponsible gun owners comment here, and your "shoot first and ask questions later" attitude may come back to bite you in the butt someday if you do what this homeowner did. if you think i'm wrong call your lawyer and ask them.
joe garcia - One less criminal, let's keep killing criminals. Soon the city will be a better, safer place.
sara kellison - Lee Harvey...Oswald?? Just kidding. Prayers going out to all involved.
max snyder - And starts the good guy going to turn his life around story, but I'm sure you have no skeletons in your closet
peter ledoux - Your rights end at my door step.
angela buckley - I happen to know a neighbor of the gentleman who shot the intruder and from what I understand this man had every right to shoot. not only was the guy on his property but when the guy went outside and told the man he was armed and demanded he get off the property the intruder started the scuffle and once you fear for your safety you have the right to shoot
- Would students do better in a middle school made up of 6th - 8th graders? (Type: link | Published: 2014-10-28T03:13:37+0000)
WOWT 6 News: Would students do better in a middle school made up of 6th - 8th graders?Comments:
lacey catlett - I think children are being forced to grow up too fast. As soon as they leave elementary school they're introduced to a whole new world and it isn't so innocent anymore. Let kids be kids as long as possible.
steven niziol - where i grew up it was 1-6 ..7-8… 9-12 .. i think it's better that way ..
emily kangas - What will happen to Westside's 6th graders trip to outdoor ed? I'm guessing it would stop? Lots of service learning hours for the High Schoolers, and a very memorable trip for the 6th graders. Would HATE for that to disappear.
dawn larson-birkes - Millard is already that way k-5 6-8 and then 9-12.
kevin klingensmith - Most are 6-8. Its better that way.
anthony knickerbocker - Isn't that how must middle schools are?
kimberly clemence richmond - No 6th graders don't have the social skills to be with middle schoolers. K-6 is what's needed for elementary to help them cope stop rushing kids to grow up fast. That's what's wrong with the world today
nick solano - Isn't Millard already like this?
traycie weaver foreman - No, no, no!! Jr.high is already a traumatic experience for alot of kids. Let the 6th graders keep their innocence a little longer PLEASE!! Let's stop forcing our children to grow faster then they need to!!
kathi kubik geringer - Bad idea, middle school for my daughter was a nightmare without throwing even younger children into it...just sayin..
mike mikulicz - That's how Elkhorn is I turned out fine
jodie wilcox - Let's face facts. Westside will do what fits their budget requirements. Period. If they really cared about the students, they'd stop squeezing more bodies into buildings that can't handle the load. They'd also learn to cap classroom sizes so learning wasn't a cattle herding experience. Stop optioning in more bodies & get better student to teacher ratios. That's what's best for the kids.
lisa robino-wolter - They need to add the additional middle school and keep numbers at 1000 total. There is plenty of room for the 6th graders in the elementary schools. 500 for each middle school is plenty without adding a grade
sonya siebe - Middle school doesn't automatically = hell / bully central. And it most certainly doesn't *start* in middle school. Don't project your personal experience onto your kids.
brad alexander - "Westside students are committed to providing the strongest middle school experience for our students" Looks like a mistake
angeline bruno - Some ops JR. HIGHS are 5-8 which I don't agree with at all
peggie morfeld-dutch - I know there are some other schools that do this. Why are we trying to push our kids to grow up so quickly? Give them their last year of recess! They've earned it! :)
becky havenridge weiss - I was a Westside District student. When I was in school they already had 6-8 grade in the middle schools. There were no problems. It wasn't like we had classes with the older kids. I now work in OPS. The schools that are 5-8 are doing well. Each grade level has their own wing of the school. Sixth graders are more developmentally like middle schoolers than the kindergarteners that they are currently with.
michelle kehr - I disagree with the 5-8 middle schools but think 6-8 is great. Not all, but most middle schools that are that way try and keep the somewhat appears yes by halls or floors too.
theresa johnson - Our middle school in our town is 5-8. 5-6 on one end and 7-8 on the other. Then share the cafeteria, gym... works great!!
jessica silverfox sorrell - I like it back when it was 7-9.
- A survey of gas prices found the average cost of U.S. regular grade gas dropped 18 cents per ga (Type: photo | Published: 2014-10-26T19:16:29+0000)
WOWT 6 News: A survey of gas prices found the average cost of U.S. regular grade gas dropped 18 cents per gallon in the last two weeks. Has that impacted your driving habits? Will it impact your driving habits if prices continue to fall?Comments:
carol willmore - Guess no one has been around town yet....gas has gone up about .11 ....average price around town now is 3.09
dee gibbs bennett - Every station we saw in Omaha had jumped back to $3.09. Ten days ago we bought a fill for $2.94. This is dropping?
kevin neubauer - isnt the REAL story that it takes 2-3 months for it come to 2.94 and overnight it goes back to 3.09?
dave moore - It went up 15 cents the other day for no reason as usual.
scott dillon - The media has drawn attention to the falling gas prices. Now it's time to go back up. Next will be a "surprise" and untimely explosion at a refinery.
tim brunswick - it might have fallen, but it JUMPED up .14/gal on Thursday and there was NO reason for it !!!!!!!!!!...EXPLAIN that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dan debord - you say they are going to fall more but went up so how is that falling do me this rising mmm i might have to look falling and rising up i might be wrong
michael conoan - I love how prices go down pennies at a time, then jump back up by dimes and quarters.
leslie melichar - And Omaha jumped from 2.92 to 3.09 in ONE NIGHT last week. Do they think we are STUPID and didn't NOTICE? PSH!
bill mccollum - You can thank Bucky's for that increase. They control the prices in Omaha/CB. They probably thought we were saving too much money.
kristi finch jones - As soon as the news reported that it was going down, it shot back up
matt charron - Oh man, 18 cents??? That makes me want to go burn 50 gallons.
corey pettit - Prices go up to 3.09/gal in Omaha but have not gone up anywhere outside of the metro. Explain that.
allan colling - You think there is an election c omming up or something.
chaun redburn - ^agreed Eric. I don't think the price of gas has ever made any impact on my driving habits.
eric chavez - I drive around no matter what.
jack yerton - I agree with the consensus here. A .15 cent increase when the price of oil is dropping. Even in Lincoln, gas is 2.99 and they are almost always .20 cents higher than omaha.
bob pierson - Yea - It's dropping the other way. WOWT 6 News get your +'s and -'s straight!
charlotte kucera-olechoski - It's gone up in Bellevue $3.09 was $2.97
anthony knickerbocker - Went down to 2.95 over 2 weeks and then jumped to 3.09 in a day
yvonne somerville olsen - I just paid $3.03 after my Hy-Vee gas discount of 31 cents. Where are the stations that it has dropped

brandon wilson - It's always the Hawkeye fans...
mike grabow - The Iowa hoodie is a chick
wilson metz - Hope they didn't have guns cause banks are a gun free zone and they would be breaking the law!
katie chamberlain tworek - They are Hawkeye fans? No one will claim to know them....
anna neeson - Bank should have trapdoor to drop them in a hole for cops to catch them
rodney grap - Think it's Nebraska fans trying to throw off the police.
eric miles - My question is...why do banks not have higher end and better quality security cameras. It boggles my mind. Especially ones in the hood
sarah minor - Pretty sure the one with glasses is a female. The cops came into my store looking for a woman and had pictures of her on a security camera, said she was also driving a maroon vehicle with no plates that was stolen. Her skin tone looks very similar to this persons. Just my opinion though.
alice lucille thompson - At least he is practicing proper gun safety and keeping his finger off the trigger
sherry harvill - those red glasses though!
megan daugherty-nelson - Yeah that car doesn't even look like ours. We got pulled over today because the state trooper said our car looked like that!
samantha graeve - How do they get in? I bank there often and have to wait for someone to push a button to allow me inside.
tara marie - Defiantly a girl...
denise dutton burns - I agree, the one in the hoodie with the red glasses looks to be female.
natalie hudnall - That one in the IA shirt and red glasses looks like a girl. It said two men robbed the bank.
michael roberts - I would guess they are wearing Hawkeye gear to try and throw people off but then again maybe they aren't that smart
dan duffy - My brother and his wife. Where is the reward?
jeffrey houghton - I have an alibie.
eric pettis - Probably the two girls that stole that cat...
tim sproat - Yeah I recognize them they are like Any of the thousands that walk the streets every day, pick your city
dee gibbs bennett - When are our small banks going to stop this with some armed guards? I wouldn't go into any of our banks these days.

tisha moore - 1 in 3 runaway youth are approached for commercial sex within 48 hours of being on the street. It's called sex trafficking and the Omaha/Council Bluffs area is a hub due to the I-80 corridor. So, in my opinion we do need to look for these kids, regardless of the circumstances.
lisa reseter - Wow... so many people calling them brats. Do any of you remember being teens? Just be thankful this young girl is home, regardless if she ran away or was kidnapped. Could you people be any ruder.
matt toma - How long until they run away again?
barb regalbuto miller - These girls should be ordered to pay restitution to the city for all the resources used in their search. Why on earth were they allowed to wonder the old market alone anyway. I would NEVER drop my 14 year old off down there. It's all bars.
stephanie sousa - I'm so glad a couple people said what we were all thinking! They were runaways they were not kidnapped! Such a waste of public resources! Properly parent and discipline your bratty kids and don't beg the whole city to babysit them.
nick hung - she did not need to be found, she had contact with people after she ran away, she just needed to return, she was seen and contacted all over omaha , you act like this was an abduction instead of a runaway
colleen anson - Glad they are safe. However how the girl whose mother was canvassing the old market in a state of anxiety, confusion and sheer fear for her child can live with herself I'll never know. She should be made to watch the video of her poor mother over and over until she gets it.
lois hubbard colvin - Kaitlin Lee Traxler is my niece so I know first hand how she is. Unfortunate, but true, she needs some serious help... and discipline! So for those defending her, don't think this has been a learning experience for her. And... Kaitlin, if you are reading this, SHAME ON YOU! Too bad you have no conscience. You put your Grandmother through hell..
becky sharpe pulver - DO NOT blame the parents! These kids today and even 50 yrs ago are going do stupid stuff! Some more stupid than others. Parents CAN Not WATCH THERE KIDS 24/7! Trust me, my husband and I tried and still failed! I'm glad they are safe!
barb regalbuto miller - It comes down to these girls having no respect for thier parents. Bottom line. We live in a culture that wants to make excuses for bad behavior. What these girls did was wrong plain and simple. Now they need to be punished for thier actions.
steven lee putman - At least they didnt join isis
jessica tierney gardeman - Lots of "do a better job of parenting". From experience, its not always in the parenting; most times it's about the kid/kids just doing stupid stuff and not thinking of the consequences until its to late. No kid is perfect, and will at some point in their lives do something stupid.
stephanie sousa - Solid info Tisha Moore, perhaps all runaways should get hauled into the station to watch a video about sex trafficking. Scare them a little so they realize how serious running away is. Maybe then they'll keep their butts home instead of running off and partying with guys who are 7 years older than them. While at least one frantic mother searched day and night. Let's all just stop making excuses for kids to behave poorly. The reason generations before this had respect for their parents? Probably because their parents actually parented.
amy lukert betzen - Everyone is so quick to be judgmental. Until you have walked a mile in their shoes (parents/girls). Don't put them down. Thank god that they are alive and safe.
haley carman - Most of you commenting are truly disgusting. A missing child is still a missing child, runaway or not. Also, every child or teenager can be helped!! It's a matter of how much effort you're willing to put into helping them.
cindy keene - Just another case of bratty kids not getting proper discipline and acting out for what I can imagine is some stupid reason. Let's cover actual missing people and if punks wanna run away let them then find out just how tough it is without your parents bailing u out!
angi zimmerman - Gloria Vallecillo u r so right and u and I and Stacy Linn all grew up together and this girl is no different. She defiantly didn't tell her parents everything. All parents think they know wat goes on in all they're kids lives but they r wrong. All they can pray for is that wat they taught them will sink into their heads. I know my kids only tell me 86% of wat they r sharing. From there parents have to try and put all the missing pieces in place. I'm glad she was found but I also think that if she thinks she's grown enuff to run then ur old enuff to face the consequences!!!
hilary beckner - Tisha Moore before you start trying to give facts or opinions you should probably think about your own problems!!!!! And for the rest of you with all your negative comments about these girls I hate to break it to all off you, just because this is the way they felt was the way to reach out does not make them bad kids!!!! And for ones that have left any negative comment that do t have kids we will all pray for you because you really have no clue!!!!! JS 😄 Staci Lynn
laura marie - At that age I wasn't allowed to go to the old market/downtown. I did with a bigger group of people for prom, but guess I was respectful towards my family.
amy perkins mefford - Get them the help that they are crying out for, there has to be something they feel the need to run away.
mary nicholson - They both need there butts spanked for putting there family through this. Shame in them. Maybe community service should be in there future

WOWT 6 News: BREAKING: A window was shot out of a school bus today near 24th & Pinkney, according to scanner reports. There were kids on the bus at the time. Thankfully, none of them were injured. kathy harvey - Lovely now the animals are shooting up school buses. I still say stick em all on an island and let them make themselves extinct
ash swoboda - I hope parents were called before seeing this on Facebook....
bob aiello - What has happened to our world. Somebody knows who did this. Step up.
joel leighner - lost for words! glad everyone is OK, and they catch the POS!
joe carter - Go get yourself a concealed carry permit folks. The crime won't get better, and the cops can't be everywhere. If they're willing to do this, what are they willing to do to you when they break into your house?
justin moore - Ya dont want to put these morons away, they may get overcrowded in prison. This nation is turning in to a bunch of pansies with how we treat our violent criminals. Our justice system should be ashamed of themselves. But I am sure whoever did this is a really good person who just made some bad choices but was just getting their life back together.
colt william - Roll out the national guard, put them on our street corners and see how many shootings and bank robberies occur
tina anderson larocque - Wtf is wrong with people.
jeff coffman - Disturbing, to say the least.
risa bledsoe - Horrible people.
janelle baideme - I decided to put my post into more clear terms. I think police should do something to get illegal non permit guns & whatnot off the streets & make more presence in those areas to help end all this violence nonsense from nobody's trying to be somebody's & have more of a chance to catch them. It sucks that so many & too many low lives get away with things like this. Too many free bullets whether shot at or shot out, same thing.. flying from the guilty & cowardly people out there. Where's the justice? But yet this Deandre Critten who is awaiting trial who threatened a life of a police officer with a gun pointed which of course caused the officer to use force, who spent 13 days in the hospital is getting US the Omaha tax payers to pay his medical bill over $103,000 Dollars. It is like he was awarded for what he did which is complete nonsense. The city council was stupid to approve this, he should have been just been out of luck & pay his own way for what he did instead of getting a free ride.
jefferey walker - Its nothing new for omaha. All u hear about is shooting in the O town.
justin swinarski - What do ya know in the hood again
jill skradski novotny - How about the citizen friends of Omaha go through The Purge?
mike mikulicz - We need more law abiding citizens with concealed carry permits so we can stop these thugs from doing this crap
billee herzberg - No no!! This is not correct!! Bus was shot with BB gun leaving North High. No one was hurt!' Just because you hear it on scanners doesn't make it true!' Find out facts before you scare ppl!!
patty darrow - How low can people go? Why do people want to harm, ever think of others? Get religion in your lives, ask God for his forgiveness, try becoming a better person, maybe you could find someone to mentor, enough is enough with crime... May God be with you.
kristin abbink - Parents were likely not notified before it was on FB and TV, they post and go on air with stuff as soon as they hear it on a scanner. Sometimes even before law enforcement can arrive. Causing chaos and hysteria in some cases
jacki maynard - Glad no kids were hurt. If I was a parent of a child on that bus, I'd be freaking out! Thank God the kids were unharmed.
rosie carmona - Omg and my son walks to his bus stop
dave layer - Drop a bomb on that hood.
- A Treynor, Iowa woman is raising questions about a trip to Africa planned by one of her daughte (Type: photo | Published: 2014-10-24T01:36:20+0000)
WOWT 6 News: A Treynor, Iowa woman is raising questions about a trip to Africa planned by one of her daughter's classmates. Read more here: wowt.com/a?a=280254462Comments:
eric oliver - I will be happy to buy her an atlas and point out how far away Uganda is from the countries with Ebola outbreaks.
jake davis - Public school has failed her, and her geography skills are poor. White panic from small towns!!!!!!
nikki johnson grimes - This is how big Africa is in comparison to other parts of the world. People just hear "Africa" and their mind goes blank. This would be like having an outbreak in Costa Rica and freaking out because someone traveled to LA.
christina boje - Um, Uganda and Liberia are 3000 miles apart. Head meet desk.
john augustine - Why give this nut job a voice?
laura marie - I wouldn't go. My missions trip in high school was almost canceled due to a shooting where we were headed. Better safe than sorry to cancel a trip.
nicholas hensley - You may want to dawn a gas mask I just farted.
ryan batt - This woman needs a life.
amy deriso - The article does say that the area the teen and her mom are going to is close to Congo which is seeing a different strain of Ebola. It is smart for this other mother to be concerned for the health and safety of her own child and the community when the teen returns from the mission trip. Although, it would make more sense for people not to go where they are having outbreaks.
scott dillon - Another soccer mom with nothing between her ears, spouting off about which she knows nothing about. She is patient 0 when it comes to spreading mass hysteria.
lisa myer roane - It is 2900 miles from Uganda to Liberia where there is Ebola. She might want to check how far Treynor is from Omaha or Dallas or Atlanta!
glenn lewis - I think the worst part about this being aired is that other people that will watch this also don't own maps and will just be fear stricken.
sheri holub - Concerns are legit. Anyone wondering why Ebola patients are treated differently than Aids patients? Because of the unknowns. Vaccine, treatment, transmission, extent of survival out of the host...CDC changes recommendations every day. US is far from Africa and Ebola has spread from less than a handful of known infected with the highest precautions in place. Yes, we all continue with our lives but we shouldn't just go blindly. That's why we have opinions and free speech to ask questions.
jude hayes - Hell yah be concerned
angiee mcnelly gunderson - NOOO WAY!! Voluntarily put yourself anywhere near harms way? NO!!
stephen gillespie - And this is news how?.........
michael strauch - Get a life. It isn't your concern, it is the traveler's family's concern.
ebony marie - Yea, um considering they are checking everyone immediately upon entry to the United States I don't think this estupido mother has anything to worry about. Right now she is simply showing how ignorant she is and just is an attention seeker. Look it up lady!!! Here's the website: www.cdc.gov
scott dillon - Yes, Mike Leach we get it. Uganda has one death from Ebola. So does the USA. It is also a different strain and a less virulent one as well. Maybe you should move to Iowa and be another chicken little with the ding bat.
heather k. myers - This is dumb. Uganda is nowhere near the affected countries, and hasn't had an outbreak.
matt peters - Please die in a fire.

WOWT 6 News: MISSING CAT: A South Omaha business owner has surveillance video of two young women taking his cat from right in front of his shop. Please SHARE to help bring "Miss Kitty" home.Comments:
megan l karls - Outside in front of his store... the young girls probably didn't know the cat belonged to the store owner.
jessica merkley pastor - Miss kitty is a good cat and friendly..always will greet you when you go into the store...she needs to be found....those women are thieves just like any other person who steals things
jed dean - probably thought it was a stray, keep them inside or on a leash just like dogs
terra henggeler - What's with all the douch bag comments? Where I come from pets are family!
misty scrivner - They're going to eat it! Lol
patti stahmer vanseveren - Bring Ms. Kitty back to her family! Not yours to take. If you want one go to the Humane Society, they have plenty of them that need homes!
sarah e. komor mcdowell - It belongs to Ralph owner of Odd Lot. Give it back. Hes good person and doesn't deserve to have Miss Kitty taken. Ralph does nothing but help people.
jen schizencephalyawareness hulett - This just blows my mind! A cat story!? Please tell me this isn't airing at 10 news there are way more important things we need to know then a missing cat in front of a store not a home a store they may thought is was a stray seriously wowt
gayle martinez - The owner has every right to keep the cat at the store. It is his business. I've seen cats inside shops in the Old Market, maybe they should be cited for animal neglect too. Hope the cat is returned.
amie farrell - Worthless!!! I've caught kids trying to take my cat on their way home from school I've had to yell at them to put my miss Kitty down! Parents need to teach their kids not to take What's not theirs!!! Hope this Kitty is found
em leahy - Is this a real story?
miko koricic - Isn't the nhs giving cats away buy 2 get 3 free? Why any idiot would steal a cat when so many are looking for homes is beyond me!?!
brent mckinney - Just yesterday a group of teenagers outside my house were commenting on how my cat looked like a squirrel and how they were going to catch him and kill him. They didn't realize I overheard them and a Bellevue police officer paid them a visit. Now I am afraid to let my cat outside.
danny torchia - There's a comic store owner here in council bluffs who has a sign next to his leashed cat with its doorless kennel outside. Seems like some clues to indicate it isn't a stray might help. Not saying the guy is even blaming them. But it could've been prevented.
jami ham - The owners are wonderful this is an outrage! SOMEONE KNOWS! !!! PLEASE TELL! Animals are family members and these are kind people the store owners
christina raber - This is sad! Stupid kids!
marlenne herrera ortiz - Cecily Savala give him back his cat!!
jason enghauser - Not everyone is purr-fect
tina rickards - Hope they bring cat back to owner
pam butcher - What kind of creeps are these???
marlon marroquin - I wonder if I loose my PitBulls channel 6 might come to my place and help me find them 😂

owen scott swaink - He looks pretty cocky
staci greving beyer - And he looks like a psychopath...no remorse for what he did. And unfortunately our justice system sucks, so I'm sure he'll get away with it.
winnie sue brown-maher - He will be out in a day or 2.. Smh!
rose vera - He's happy, cuz he got a free ride. No need to pay rent, bills, baby mamas. Meanwhile we're out here working two jobs, to keep these thugs clothed and fed. SMDH!!!

theresa menard - Congratulations, good luck in the future. Don't be going back over to Liberia.
carol foggo-klos - Wow, congrats to you for beating Ebola...ignore the ignorant haters on here...most of Nebraska is filled with better. God Speed!
shelley juma floro - Omaha is so blessed to have UNMC. Good luck!!
carrie smith - Wonderful news for him! I hope and pray that the people in Liberia can have the same care...or even a fraction of it to end their suffering!
rosalie bonney - What a hateful person. I won't say any names because anyone that reads these comments can figure out who I'm talking about... You should be ashamed of yourself.
josh karas - good luck on the dating scene bro
todd riner - Stop going to Africa! !!!
kimberly harwan - Has anyone said "he got cured because he's white" yet?
derreck kinney - Just wait it'll be airborne soon dumb f××ks

jeff harder - Omaha, where Ebola comes to die
minnie dominican twin - Hey now !!!! Glad he's up and we'll but omaha let's not bring any more Ebola patients here please and thank you !!!
caleb carolus - Don't get me wrong, I support the guy, I just wish they would have kept him a little longer for fear of it becoming inactive...
geraldine williams hood - I'm certainly glad for these people who are getting "free" of this terrible virus, but, what happened to "there is no known cure" for Ebola? Another of the many lies we are spoon fed? Or are they actually developing the cures as they go?
joy jensen - UNMC works miracles daily! They helped my cousin Matthew Brophy Sr and saved his life near 9 times.
shelly muckey - He has insurance and his employer paid for his trip back. It was no burden on taxpayers
kleo ghostdancer warner - Lmao why? He went to Africa on his on. He should be thanking us for our tax paying money that help him beat this virus! He isn't nothing special. Why is it that now days people take these jobs as a professional and expect for people to care about there mishaps from on the job incidents? I dislocated my collarbone the other day at work. Can I get some help paying medical bills? Probably not!
charlene potter - Congratulations Great job Medical team.

WOWT 6 News: UPDATE: An alleged intruder who was shot and killed was out on bond, awaiting trial in two separate cases.Comments:
rick mangold - Saving taxpayer dollars. Good job!!
michael moore - He got what he deserved! Glad the community is fighting back to protect their family and property.
bobbi terry - Somebody is going to say "he was such a good guy".
scott ruckman - If an intruder entered with a gun take him out with a gun
morgan lambert - Good, now onto the next, let's keep the trend going!
connie coenen alexander - Now watch, his family will try suing the person who shot him. This world is so upside down.
sarah snyder - A man tried to break into my moms house a few days ago and got a loaded gun and flashlight in his face. He ran but i hope he realizes how he could have been shot between the eyes! Stupid thieves! Lol
patrick roeder - Good guy and helpful kid, yeah helping himself to others belongings. He probably put his hands up too. "I broke into your home but please dont shoot me!" People making excuses for criminals gotta love it.
daniel r sutton - Good riddance. More and more of these stories are popping up around the country in the media. Good evidence of why the second amendment exists.
miranda klausner - Awaiting trial on 2 separate cases and had just got out on bond, ya, he sounds like a good guy. People make mistakes, but he obviously wasn't learning from his.
michael roberts - Wouldn't even had the chance had the justice system done the job right the first time and not let him out on bond....The justice system needs fixed and not just a money revolving door now someone else has to live with the fact they were forced to kill someone or be killed themselves
becky pluth - What the hell did he think would happen when he went into somebody's home with a freaking gun!!! SMMFH
travis mitchell - Law obeying citizens exercising their second amendment, saving tax dollars, and freeing up the courts. Give this guy a drink.
kris mikels - Sorry, no tears for him.one more off the street.
kevin herron - Obviously what he did was wrong by breaking in but Ty was a good guy. I met him 2 years ago at my job and then ran into him at the gym I went to. Always super nice and helpful the last I saw of him was in August after we did abs. Crime is wrong but Ty was a good guy in my book, rest in peace
lindsay boffa holding - Saving Taxes! Woo hoo!
taylor burkum - You break in. You die. It's such a SIMPLE concept.
dan duffy - What do you mean alleged, he broke into the house and was shot I think if he was shot dead in the house he got what he asked for.
michele weibel kennedy - They saved the tax payers a little money !!!
rick domenge - Idiots are here defending him too , it was a mistake! Spilling milk is a mistake , being an armed intruder makes you a POS!
sam chatham - Yeah, this word "alleged". WOWT, I do not think it means what you think it means.
