TODAY: Do you live in a street or suburb with an unfortunate name? Darwin resident Shaun is asking for $1.1 million for his five bedroom home... the catch is he lives on Dick Ward Drive in Fannie Bay. #Today9Comments:
michele venn - Have a friend who lives at 69 Moorhead Drive in Victoria - NO JOKE!
chris mcleod - I live at the best. Champagne Blvd. Oyster Cove.
tracey murrin - Woodswallow Place.... Nice to say out loud in a quiet reception area when asked for my address...
maree anderson - Yes. I live in Watanobbi
samantha peterffy - There is a place in West Australia called Blackbutt Rd Inaloo
roo nay - Bogan avenue- I feel like suing the council 😒
desanka ogrizovic - Thrush court in hoppers crossing victoria
kristy skipper - This is just outside Beaudesert in Qld
vicky starkie - Our last place we lived was at Mt Mee... 😕
tamara bush - Earnest wanke rd
christine bartlem - What's even funnier is you go through Coconut Grove up Dick Ward Drive into Fannie Bay.
michael james o'keefe - I once lives in a block of units. The lot number was 11, the unit number was 11. Because our adress was 11/11 We had a minute silence every time we walked in the door.
clinton starbreaker davis - 1.1mil for a home in darwin is the real joke here.
sarah jane - My favourite is the suburb of 'Cockburn' in Perth.
Had a laugh when I was visiting, was informed it's pronounced 'Coburn'.
Um, I can read thank you very much. That sign said Cockburn, clear as day lol
ash birdy - My mums name is Peta Peters. She once lived on Peters Street IN St Peters.
Now if she marries her partner, she will be Peta Griffin. So I bought a cat and named him Stewie.
Do I win?
dave keech - Anyone heard of ROOTY HILL?
janina chandler - I'm sure the people that decide these names are either drunk or vindictive! Lol
jasmine ryan - My friends own a property on curly dick rd :/
dannielle hall - I lived near this one in the UK!
jessica langham - Used to live in Woollybutt Way Muswellbrook nsw

Australia is facing a mate drought!

TODAY: Does this relate to you? Australia is facing a mate drought! A new study reveals almost half of us have fewer friends that we'd like and most of us have just one to three close friends. #Today9Comments:
peter woskowiak - Quality over quantity
alana walker - And that is plenty.
My father use to tell me, "if you can count on one hand your close friends then you're a forntunate person"
julz loncaric - True friends are few, fake friends are many!
dave burke - I have one best friend, and i married her nearly 34 yrs ago.....
shane bennett - People can't get off their mobile phones long enough to make friends
rachel mayne - All these people saying they have less friends because of no money due to tax... since when does it cost much to have a cuppa at a friends house talking and sharing your life and thoughts...
ross alexander - My real friends are dwindling in number, they are all gradually passing away. I am very proud of the fact there are still more than 10 really good friends whom I have known for more than 50 years. These friends epitomise "mate ship" to the ultimate degree. We have all know each other longer than the years we knew our own fathers.
john mccarthy - I'll put it down to people having an over inflated opinion of self importance from absorbing to much garbage from social media like FB. So I'm turning everything off and going to the beach
toyah sansum - I'd rather have a select few friends whom I can trust, over the drama of a large group of untrustworthy friends.
nicole kane - Its because we all have to work all of the time and don't have the money to have BBQs and dinners and be around our friends. Were so tired and can't be bothered.
tara whiting - I believe you have the tax system to thank for that. We are having to work harder now than ever just to afford to live! Bigger companies also dictate your hours leaving little time to spend with family or with friends.
vanessa cindy kroon - I moved to oz 2 yrs ago and have never felt soo lonely and not having a friend is the most terrible feeling and when people pass you by frowning... wish there was a lonely souls club and meet folk who feel the same way..
trent gowie - My missus is my best mate. You find that one person that you connect with and the rest are acquaintances
trace roberts - I rather have just a few great quality friendships than heaps of friends. People need to realise it's not about the amount of friends you have but about having good quality friendships
karen nankervis - I have a wonderful group of friends here in my town. We meet each week for a coffee and catchup, same time same place. Some weeks there are a couple of us, other weeks there might be 10. We talk about general stuff around town right through to supporting each other through crisis. And we laugh a lot! We have movie nights, go dancing; all sorts of things; somethings husbands and partners come along, other times are just girls. I would love to see a gathering like this in every town and suburb. .. women supporting each other. And I am working on making that happened. Message me if you are interested! Karen
alethea morg'ndecay gora - I can't stand friends, they're to needy or always creating unwanted drama and when people just drop in unannounced with their ferrel kids...omg
melanie clare - Because it's too risky to have friends, they always cause trouble in some sort of way...
kim howson - Women especially need to stop judging one another, spend time together and build friendships
melissa morrison - I have heaps of friends!! But they're the fury and feathered kind! Those friends don't judge you and bitch about you behind your back!!
eileen izarya winikerei - Nope, ive got da best girlfriends/1 male anyone could ask for
Alicia Larsen Shannon Ryan Peyton Huia Puna Diamond Neise Noone Sil Victoria Tito Andrew Amituanai
jodie sheean - I don't have any real friends.. Just acquaintances.
I've tried, and I'm there for those I care about, but it is never reciprocated.
My family are my best friends, and wouldn't have it any other way.

danielle pitts - If it works, and causes no harm? Sure, I'd volunteer my husband to do that
sharryn kaye - Put them lower for paedophiles
sharryn kaye - The secret to giving up is cold turkey. I tried the gum,the patches nothing worked. I had no money to buy cigs, went without for three or four days. Then it was pay day,I thought Ive gone this far,I might as well keep it going.Im over the hump. Its been seven years without them. I have never looked back.
vikki fisher - absolutely specially if it worked with Smoking. 5 attempts so far and I keep going back
jude johnston - I went cold turkey 27years ago have not had a cigarette since didn, t need a gadget around the head , maybe it would help the drug addicts ,
karen coggan - Does it work for junk food?
cilla neilson - Just grow some balls and push through it like normal people do :)
damien arvidson - No, people need to have some bloody willpower and self control. You can achieve anything you want and will appreciate it so much more and absorb the lesson if you earn the reward.
sleepy head - Amy - glad you didn't do this 2 give up coffee!
georgie pirie - No way. I consider my coffee addiction much healthier than being addicted ice or alcohol!!! Maybe hard substance addicts can try it?!
diane gregg carpenter - Yes if it would help me stop smoking and was safe
bradley marinich - Nope...simple dont have it in the house
norm cork - Sharryn Kaye you don't need that for paedo scumbags. The ONLY answer for them is this.
michelle lowry - In the old days we used will power
jodi price - Smoking and chocolate are my nauhhties lol
robyn spearpoint shannon - Yes if it worked
yvonne vega - Bloody oath I would, for smoking, would be a gawd send.
chris ellis - Zap the phyco women out,,, for sure
colleen moore - If it worked for smoking yep i would. Tried patches, hypnotherapy, cold turkey, cutting down each day. Can't seem to kick the damn rotten habit
kat kuthbert - Why would you wanna live without coffee????
michael conradsen - I could not imagine it being comfortable, if you look at it like an addiction then of course you are going to be miserable. I enjoy coffee, cigarettes, beer etc, moderation is key.

TODAY: Scared? This morning we met the documentary makers who've recorded some real life paranormal experiences in Australia! http://www.9jumpin.com.au/show/today/videos/3892383619001/ #Today9Comments:
natasha madams - I don't get it - you can see her own hand pulling her own collar in the slow motion part. How could anyone think it's believable?
dario ciarrocchi - Everyone realises she pulls her own shirt right??
jeff oberin - The medium pulls her own shirt. Watch her left hand.
simone roe - I have been to the quarantine station for a work function at night and I tell you it is the scariest place.... Things really happen there!
ian moulsdale - It's bullshit, staged for the show and publicity. Where are the photos of the unbruised arm prior to her pulling herself into the room. Mmm may be the fairies deleted the footage or sold it to big foot
kierra smith - Not only did the medium pull her own shirt but them talking about how she ended up with bruises all over her arm? Where was that proof? The second woman sitting in the studio never said a word. The brunette one did all the talking...
kade jones - It is insulting to think that we have our name posted to this amatuer filming. You can clearly see the "medium" or actor pull on her own shirt through the door. If channel 9 wanted the real deal and real footage then they would contact the real Haunted Australia and get real evidence.
scott fuller - And the Brunette could'nt lie straight in bed if she tried.... look at her eyes lol.
dillon pearce - Vinicio Zelada Amber Tsivilis hahahaha. This is hilarious she pulls her own collar. What a noob -.-
gary brentnall - Some ppl are narrow minded
hannah smith - That "medium" clearly pulls her self in the closet you can see her grab her own shirt
lindsey pyle - Nope, not scared of fake stuff. These people need to get a real life just like the Bigfoot hunters.
elizabeth park - Nighthawk Horoshima Stiglitz Luke Sandypants
danielle chalmers - Clearly you can see she pulls her own collar an stumbles off to the other room...
jan brown - That's the most pathetic thing I've seen, stupid bitch pulls her own collar trying to make us believe something grabbed her..
sam murphy - Kade Jones, please publicly post you comment as I am totally in support of your work and abhor rip off merchants
natalie basso - Connie Santamaria Rita Cutajar Chris Cutajar Monique Santamaria Max Basso
emily barry - Kathie Barry. We were here
kade jones - Haunted Australia has received alot of complaints regarding this clip and news report. The real "Haunted Australia has no afiliation with these amatuers in any way shape or form. We have our own production crew of specialist experts as well as celebrities on each episode. Neither channel 9 or the organisation try to rectify this issue so to make people aware Haunted Australia has nothing to do with this production at all. we have the name registered and it is infact insulting that both a team of amatuers and a network steal and use our name simply for a story and we get attacked on our site for it.
richard orchard - Mediums. I prefer large.
caitlin crowther - Charlotte Koernicke

TODAY: CAPTION THIS! Check out these pictures of Tony Abbott and president Putin cuddling up to koalas. But look closely at Putin's koala... He's trying to make a getaway! Send in your captions - what's that koala trying to say? PHOTO CREDIT: News Corp Australia #Today9Comments:
lucy bellamy - You should have given Putin THIS ONE!
lisa dewhurst - There's a bear in there & 2 assholes as well...
jo moran - I'm not Putin up with that!
andrew yildfourgenesis head - Two endangered species that contribute nothing to society but eating and sleeping all day....and a pair of koalas
jay senior - Putins koala: "If I could get to that asshole that is ruining our country, I'd be Putin my claws straight down his throat so he can't eat for days like he is doing to hundreds of thousands of Australians with that horrific smile on his face"
catherine sareen - If I can get a good jump from here I should be able to land on the other morons face. Then we attack
kev stankovski - Good reporting, keeps the focus off scabbott's embarrassing speech to the world leaders yesterday.
barbara neville - How much can a koala bear
rana tahau - These humans have a bad Abbott of Putin us in uncomfortable situations.
therese therese - To me it looks like Putin's Koala is trying to reach out to scratch out Abbott's face
kev stankovski - Is he really trying to get away, look in this picture it's just trying to get to it's mate. Once again good reporting trying to make out Putin to be the bad guy, show all the pics
nate shepherd - Looks like the koala wants to shirtfront Abbott
ashley holmes - Looks to me like the koala wants to rip Tony's face off like the rest of us!
val connolly - Let me at Abbott the smiling assassin I'll show him climate change
jay-nine brown - More like it's about to take its revenge on Abbott for allowing his home to be demolished to make way for industries and mining ... got nothing to do with Putin ......
paul bate - How much can a koala , bear.!
katrina whitfield - "Put us down, we'll catch fleas!"
christine barrett - Poor Koalas in the arms of these two idiots.
lisa langley - Poor koalas how can people be so cruel as to let Abbott touch one FFS
kim monish - There's that idiot Abbott that is destroying our country. LET ME AT HIM!!!!
bill parkinson - Hopefully they pissed on both of them!!

Smoking will soon be banned in all NSW national parks, picnic area (Type: photo | Published: 2014-11-15T21:46:54+0000)
TODAY: Should all states do this? Smoking will soon be banned in all NSW national parks, picnic areas, campgrounds, beaches and lookouts. It's hoped the move will cut the risk of bushfires and reduce litter. #Today9Comments:
anne moss - Im a non smoker...
But wtf? Where are people allowed to smoke? It is a legal substance !
Get over it.. some people choose to smoke!
michael blake - Would be great if they Ban it from doorways of Shopping centres as we'll it's revolting to have to walk through it with Children, each to there own but just walk an extra 10 -20 metres away.
david cossey - just ban humans, then no rubbish at all
janice stuart - Give them a break always bitching on smokers I'm a non smoker but fed of picking on them. Start looking at people throwing them out of the cars.
ange gorry - They can't ban it all together because the government enjoy the tax from it too much.
lana becker - Campgrounds? Where people are likely to have campfires? FAIR ENOUGH
kel smith-wilson - I'm a smoker, I'm not s criminal. So stop treating me/us like one. And for the record, I am extremely considerate towards non smokers, I walk away from them, so they don't inhale, I do not smoke with in doorways etc, I put my butts in the smoking bin that is supplied. So stop treating us like criminals, we pay tax too!
karen mwse atkins - really!!!! seeing as most of these fires are lit by arsonists, I am a non-smoker, but give them a break for crying out loud, over the b/s
kylie hulland - Excellent it should be nationwide!!
carol fitzgerald - About bloody time 👌💃
peter richard everett - I'm a non-smoker with 4 very young children - all preschool. I am reading the comments here and it's mind-boggling. Comments such as "as long as they don't smoke near me and my kids" are the worst. If you don't like it, don't go near the smokers. You don't own the planet. Deal with it. I would rather smell a cigarette than get run down by some a-hole drunk. I can hold my breath for 30 seconds but that drunk, high waste of life will permanently maim me or kill me. Oh, but that's socially acceptable. Let's not forget that just about everything you eat, drink, breathe, etc is carcinogenic. The chemicals and crap we are exposed to on a daily basis will kill us long before second-hand smoke does. Let's get real. Grow up, learn some tolerance, and realize that the world does not revolve around you. Oh and when that cigarette-smoking cop, paramedic, fireman, etc comes to help you, be sure to send them away for being stinky and endangering your health in your world. Selfish, self-centered people get no sympathy.
lisa price - What about banning maccas I see more of their litter than anything else.
linda burns - I am a smoker who has lived in the blue mountains all my life. Most bushfires are caused by dry lightning, power poles or arsonists. I dispose of my cigarette butts and am respectful of non smokers around me. Not once have I one punched any one after a night out because I smoke. I also haven't bashed anyone because I was having a psychotic episode from having a high from a cigarette. I also haven't heard of domestic violence resulting from cigarettes. Yes it's a habit I would rather not have but come on you can't put all smokers in the one box. The same as you can't say that all drinkers are going to drink drive. I would rather have a smoker coming towards me than a drink driver..
kryssy jones - I'm sorry but until they can control where junkies drop needles then cigarettes are the least of the problem
adrian cummiskey - Ok i normally dont post on things like this but this has just rattled my cage.Question.... Is it not legal to smoke in this country? I do believe this is an invasion of my civil liberties. It is OK for the bloody government to tax me on my smokes but then they try to control how and where i can consume a LEGAL PRODUCT. This country is fast becoming a land of the doo gooders and the wowsers!!!!!!!!!!!
sharon harnden - Why not ban stupid people from breeding
patrick boucher - ... because smokers create SSOOOO much rubbish in our national parks. You know what should be banned? Fast food/junk food wrappers. In the national parks near us that's the majority of rubbish. MacDonalds wrappers & KFC boxes... not cigarette butts.
judy carroll - Sorry to say, but most of the bush fires are deliberately started by wankers who enjoy watching the destruction they have caused. Most smoker's are very aware of the extinguishing of cigarettes. I do not smoke in my house, in a car...and I carry a small compact ashtray with me..Cigarettes are a Legal Product..they generate millions of dollars in taxes in this country every year, I am sick of feeling like a criminal because I have a cigarette. Smoking is an addiction, it the Government was serious about "helping" smoker's it would use the tax money is collects to help smokers fight their addiction. Educating people from an early age is the best way to deter smoking.
jody travis - I am a non-smoker.....but really.....smoking outside is no different than the smoke that comes from other polluted put into the air from factories....buses.....planes.how about we band drunks from all private and public places....they cause more harm than people smoking outside far more dangerous to let drunks and people just having a buzz from alcohol AND DRIVING....get off the smokers. ...how about banning fat people from buying soda.....thought this was a free country.....health insurance company taking all your money..... making all the laws and TELLING EVERYONE WHAT THEY CAN AND CAN NOT DO...BITE ME
narelle bradford - I am a non smoker however people smoking is legal makes me laugh how people can't smoke anywhere and its legal .....but there are syringe boxes everywhere and illicit drugs are illegal ummmm doesnt make sense
tash lee potgieter - I'm a smoker n this is bs wat about all the fat ppl who put costs on the health system junkies they get freebies from the gov to make the effect of the illegal drug better but No us smokers r basically having to hide in our houses but I'm not drinker but I have to put up with druken idiots carting on n putting on the news n seeing another person dead or injured during a nite out drinking
Let's see wat is the real killer so I think fat ppl shld eat at home so the rest of us don't have see them n ban alcohol then all the bs will stop n yes I'm smoker n I'm proud n its it my right to smoke where I want coz of my human right so now I'm actually going to smoke in public places n parks n when they try to fine me i wi take it court coz this is against the constitution
- Have you noticed Karl's been wearing the same knock-off ‘Burberry’ suit for the past year? (Type: photo | Published: 2014-11-16T01:00:52+0000)
TODAY: Have you noticed Karl's been wearing the same knock-off ‘Burberry’ suit for the past year? He’s done it to prove a point. After seeing constant sexism towards Lisa and Sylvia each day, he came up with this experiment… http://www.9news.com.au/entertainment/2014/11/16/01/17/karl-stefanovic-says-hes-been-wearing-same-suit-for-full-year #Today9Comments:
sam pyne - most certainly did. i believe sometimes the silent protests are the loudest heard. good on you Karl (i cant believe i have to edit my post, to clarify my comment and to defend myself against people i dont even know... yes i did indeed notice karl was wearing the same blue suit, NOT the actual brand.)
mel bourchier - I did. But didn't feel the need to comment. I don't comment on the women either. I just thought he liked navy suits! Haha.
suzi ses - Today shits all over sunrise!! I can't stand Kochie
naomi hund - And yet chanel nine will put up pics of two female presenters asking for opinions on what they're wearing.
daniel isenhood - I saw him the other day down at the shops wearing a pink tank top, denim shorts & high-top white Nikes...
kathryn ford - An outfit doesn't make a person.....it's who they are inside that stands out the most :)
lucy walsh - or is it because no-one cares about Carl haha
hope evans - Well done Karl.
Similar point is Tony Abbot. Anyone ever comment on his clothing? All I ever heard when Julia Gillard was in power was about how poor etc her style of clothing was. Huge gender divide!!!
kelly mcgovern - I just thought he liked blue.
raylene hoffmann - Good point, keep up the good work Karl! I think you're great!
alex le fevre - This actually lowered my dislike of Carl a few notches. Good work dude!
michelle rudolph - Hahaha I love Karl... He's a bloody cracker
kylea lee - Great job Karl, I watch most days and have to admit no I didn't notice but at the same time I'm not overly concerned for what the ladies wear either, but can see the relevance to what your saying. Look at the slanging and terrible comments made about Julia Gillard constantly regarding her wardrobe, we would & will never hear the same criticism put on any of our male leaders, sad judgemental society we live in.
anthony ant man andrews - Carl , he is an every day Aussie bloke , funniest guy on a news show I've seen. , and at the same time a serious intelligent person , good on ya Carlos
mariee houley - Love channel 9 over channel 7 . Koshie just grates on the ears in the morning
portia walsh - I am sick of Karl, I watch the ABC now. Far more informative and interesting.
brigit green - I wondered
But good on him for making a point.
mark oszoli - Never cared to notice but than again I am a man so chances are would not have noticed if the woman on the show wear the same dress for a year either.
shannon campbell - Who the hell watches that garbage anyway.. stop leeching off the government and go and get yourselves a job...
laura schirmer - Bonny Ann Crystal Braunack
michelle lark - I noticed, because half of the ties he has been wearing don't go with the blue!

TODAY: THE GRILL: Doctors have warned that more young women aged in their 20's are being treated for advanced liver disease caused by steady and dangerous drinking. What do you think about this? #telltoday #today9Comments:
sarah haughey - Yep, too many young people drinking way too much. Puzzles me how australia has let alcohol become "the thing to do" how the hell is stumbling around slurring your words and making a fool of yourself "cool." Call me unaustralian, but our drinking culture needs to stop!
leanne ross - A poor diet, consisting of processed fatty foods is no good for your liver either maybe it's a combo of more than just 1 contributing factor
em roberts - No surprising. This generation are running into big trouble
ashleigh ford - I have to say my drinking as well as poor diet was what led me to having a liver disease... So all the young women out there live a happy healthy life... Which can include some alcohol but in MODERATION... Stay safe...
kerrie berry - story is about young women not young men the young men and binge drinking has been covered a million times. I don't drink often or a lot but I have noticed I can't go anywhere to socialise with any adult nowadays where alcohol is not present or a drinking game happening, I get teased coz I won't and never participate but I'm always cleaning up their vomit and the house plus playing taxi No More
ben holland - What about young men
beth hamilton - i work in health care and we are seeing a rising intake of alcohol induced dementia in people in mid 20's :(
lisa brook - And uet alcohol is legal! It kills more people than anything i know! In many different ways!!
nilena falvey - It needs to start with young kids 8-10 drug and alcohol education. Breed a generation of health conscious kids.. Tax payer subsidised sport !!!!
ryan daly - I grew up with an alcoholic father and saw first hand how bad it can be and it almost destroyed my family and as a result I don't drink at all and will be teaching my grandson the same thing. I watch that ad that shows the dad asking his son to get him a beer from the fridge then the cycle repeating with him as a father and it just makes me laugh as I had the same scenario growing up and yet I never turned out like my father at all. Raising the legal drinking age won't work as it hasn't worked in America what's needed is education both at home and in schools to hammer home just how bad drinking can be and even maybe a class trip to a prison or hospital ward to show just how bad alcohol can be not only to individuals but the families involved as well. My dad is now in his 60s and is suffering from the affects of his drinking when he was younger and now is so frail my mother has become his carer.
jessica joan bourke-tolcher - Self inflected, I seen my mum die cause of liver failure... Learn the hard way. It's your children that will be affected! Ps start advertising funeral plans in pubs.
helen rose - More like our poisonous food chain is killing peoples livers... and giving us all cancer. The liver has to process every single chemical we ingest because our bodies can't absorb them. Foods like Margarine, jars of sauce mix, soft drinks etc., these are what are killing peoples livers. Did you know that your liver is the only organ in your body that can process Fructose sugar (which makes up half of normal white table sugar)? In 1905 the average amount of Fructose sugar consumed by a westerners per year was 1kg... by 2010 it had risen to a massive 37kg! Our food chain is jammed packed with Fructose sugar because a few decades ago some moron declared that saturated fat was bad for us (which is only true when, like everything, it's in excess). Well guess what, the sugar they replaced the fat with is much, much worse. If you want to stay healthy keep away from sugar & away from the mainstream food chain... pay the farmer now for fresh, organic produce or pay the doctor later, it's up to you.
max le marchand - You reap what you sow. Can't blame the clubs, pubs or the alcohol just the generation who think they are bulletproof but quick to put blame onto others.
annie verrenkamp - People in their 20's getting diverticulitis, pancreatitis and cholecycitis as well all from lifestyle choices... Bad lifestyle choices not good at all
kylie jacobs - This generation were also exposed big time to Alcohol and Cigarettes under government. Alcohol and Cigarettes were everywhere around us, in the home, on public transport, in the shopping centres, billboards, cinemas you name it. We grew up believing it was a way of living a good social life. The problem now is that many people are not well educated about the limits of alcohol, good diets and physical activity. Therefore there is way too much alcohol consumption, and cigarette smoking.
renaye hartley - Sorry but they should be ashamed!! Drunks cant stand them!!
martine hibbert - I am a non drinker, have been for my entire adulthood and I just don't get the fascinating people have with drinking. There are no positives that come out of it..
klaus abrea - Does young teenager nowadays care about their health? I don't think so! Specially when they are in their group mates! I hope they'll read this!
des lang - The problem starts with it is a warning but if it had been a statement they would be fronting the anti-discrimination board
beth lavington - pretty sad state of affairs - but then again we have a massive culture of drinking in our country and it looks like the girls are now trying to outdo the boys
joyce dankmeyer garforth - The worst is that they produce children in this world, what chances of a fair life have these beautiful children, so so unfair and so abusive towards mankind!

TODAY: Top agents say Schapelle Corby could allegedly earn up to $3 million for full rights to her story. What do you think...should she profit from her story? #schapelle #today9Comments:
margaret mary lyons - Absolute joke.. She was convicted as a criminal.. Innocent until proven guilty and she was proven guilty!!! Give this cash to farmers or people battling bush fires
karen sculley - Why does the media continue to treat her like a celebrity ? When she is NOT !!!!
sarina tisdell - Her life is already ruined! She has probably missed her chance of having a family and a career! She would have major mental health problems! We have someone who walks our streets hit and kill someone and they get 4 years! She Never asked to be a 'celebrity'! I think she should take what she can get! It won't bring the last 9 years back.....
carmen risby - I firmly believe the people calling her a convicted drug trafficker have never spend Time in Indonesia !! Convicted by who??? One of the most corrupt justice systems in the world??? Everyone who is arrested in Indonesia is guilty.... Unless you pay a huge initial sum of money and them prove your innocence..... Wake up you narrow minded Australians why would a girl take something worth thousands here to sell there when it's readily available and offered on the streets for only a tenth if the price??? Seriously, murderers and rapists in Indonesia get short sentences.... She was used by their government as an example to prove a point. Disgusting how they destroyed one of our own daughters.... Let her tell her story, then make up your minds!
kathie leckenby - I don't believe anyone should profit from crime. We have heard nothing in the media but this story and yet in the same week an amazing Australian, 90 year old Catherine Hamlin, who has dedicated her life to helping those in Ethiopia, was nominated for the Nobel peace prize and it doesn't get a mention....
marisa talarico - I needed $36000 to keep my husband alive for a trial cancer treatment and no current affair program on tv or morning show or cancer council or leukemia foundation was able to help me fund it. At least I know now where priorities lay here in Australia. Maybe I should have done some kind of drug deal and I would have been noticed more and my husband would be alive today and my four kids have a father to look up to.
louise crothers - Why not? What is money after all? She has lost almost ten years of her life, lost her dad during this time and was unable to spend precious last moments with him as she rot in a cell losing her mind to thoughts none of us could probably imagine, has most likely lost the opportunity to find love and settle down in time to bear children before her biological clock says no more can do, she has been internationally humiliated and will never live it down, would probably prefer to pay for her privacy but can't...so if she gets paid for sharing her story (which everyone so desperately seems to want to hear) so much so that they clung to their t.v screens the other night to catch an inside glimpse on the nightmare she went through...so what? Everyone makes mistakes. Not everyone pays as dearly as she has.
janelle stephens - Channel 7 please donate the $3 million to the Chris O'Brien cancer clinic
alison nicole n - I think she should. Well she spent 9 years in a hell hole, she deserves something !
frances cardamone - I wished she'd go away! Over it!
dyarne olguin - No way. Why should she earn any money from breaking the law?
karen mckeon - If Chopper Read was allowed to profit from his crimes & Aussies have practically turned that dog into a hero then why shouldn't she ?
christabelle barnes - It's disgusting!! Stop making a hero out of her. She's a convicted drug smuggler. In fact, stop reporting about her altogether, I'd rather hear about the fires in VIC & SA & real local news.
carmen frendo - I think more focus should be in finding the six men who gang raped a 14 year old girl in the weekend or does the media not care
remy dussault - I dont believe she should profit at all, she shouldnt have been let out to begin with, yes there are fires in Victoria and all the talk is about her ???? the innocent are losing homes with the bushfires and channel 9 offered to pay for her story ??? give the money to the people who have lost homes ....not to the GUILTY !!!!!
vasko ognenovski - Why are we blaming shapelle the media is the one to blame throwing money at her.
caz filmer - She should be left alone. I feel sorry for her and think she paid a very very high price for a mistake. But the media circus is a joke and reflects poorly on us all for allowing it to become such a big deal. There are more important stories.
kelly louise - She has spent the last nine years basically living in a box and has ALWAYS maintained her innocence, not even had a shower in all that time, let the woman be fgs she's been thru hell and guilty or not she's done enough penance!
lesley wells - No way! The 9 years was paying for her crime, not to set her up financially for the rest of her life! She is a criminal and she should not make a cent! I'm so sick of hearing about her!
melissa ritson - How much did Chopper make off his story again?
claudie blackley - Unbelievable amount of drama. This girl (guilty or not - depending on your opinion) has served her time. So what if she can make some money from her horrible experience. People seem to worship the likes of Ned Kelly and Chopper Reid...Seriously? And Schapelle didn't kill anyone! Let the girl get on with her life, whether she writes a book or does an interview.
- SMACKING CONTROVERSY: A mother is in shock after her four-year-old daughter was smacked by an e (Type: photo | Published: 2014-02-09T21:12:14+0000)
TODAY: SMACKING CONTROVERSY: A mother is in shock after her four-year-old daughter was smacked by an elderly stranger at a local store in Queensland. Can a stranger reprimand someone else's child? #today9Comments:
kathleen milligan - Reprimand yes, smack? Never!
The only time I would touch a strangers child would be to remove them from danger.
jessica fadel torresan - I would of smacked the lady back...hard!!
elizabeth kasper - it's not right to smack some strangers child but parents need to be parents and control there kids when out in public....i am sick of kids running a muck when out shopping...
david fahey - isnt it funny how people are so offended by an old lady smacking child for doing something wrong..............but yet seem to want beat the hell out of the old lady! you are worse than the first incident!.........thats whats wrong with you in the first place! you just cant be told right or wrong, you always have to argue or fight back! unaustralian! bet the kid wont do that again! good on the old lady! get stuffed to all the people who would bash an elderly woman!
sonja hughes - Shannon Swank....whats to say parents are letting their children "have their own way"? What if that child is autistic or has some other hidden disability? Maybe the child isnt throwing a tanty in oreder to get "their own way"...maybe its a meltdown....and saying the need their a** beat is just as bad as doing so!! Yes im speaking from experience...my youngest son has sensory issues and when we are out somwhere and hes had enough he will have a meltdown....its judgemental people like you that make it hard for parents like me, to go out with our disabled children....i will thank you to remember this the next time you see a child having a "tanty or misbehaving" in puplic!! Cheers...one very annoyed with the publics veiws, Mum
sharon mellross - I don't blame her for what she did....so sick and tired of parents "NOT" parenting...especially in public. Sick of the excuses that today,s so called "parents" are using to "discipline" or rather NOT disciplining their children....."Don't smack" it's damaging...that's right!! it is damaging.....look at the disrespectful little a-holes we have to put up with today...No Respect!..No Brains! and pretty much running around doing whatever the hell they want because "You can't touch this!"
elizabeth jean curran - Just love all the comments if you can't control your kids leave them at home! Just remember you we're all somebody's little brat at sometime or another ! How do I know because I am somebody's mum and Nana :)
erin hodgkinson - Only if they expect to be knocked out by the child's parent....
amanda downing - I discipline my child, not some stranger. I'd press charges for assault. And for those saying the child was probably being a brat, that does NOT give someone else the right to hit your child. You obviously don't have children, because I bet you would feel differently.
callista menchin - Hell no... Someone puts a hand on my child and they would get a closed fist back in the face..!!
tamara doheney - Someone smacked my children and I give them more than a smack back! A stranger has no place reprimanding someone else's child
ang maloney - No way! How is it possible that parents are being made out to be abusive if they give their child a smack yet this is a discussion topic?
And as for the people saying stuff about parents "letting" children act up in public. Blame the stupid do gooders for making out smacking is wrong! Shut your mouths! I'm sure you were perfect little angels as children!
patricia johnson - My question is where was the mother.... If an elderly stranger has enough time to stop the child and smack the child, what the hell was the child doing and where the hell were the parents.... Control your kids and no one would have the opportunity to do anything like this....
tanya winter - A smack should only come from the parent
cody flack - lets make this very clear.. any stranger even puts a finger on my daughter ill knock there fucking teeth out
anita pryor - Oh tuffy tuffies u smack my kid u will pay, my god go get a life ya dum hoe's... don't blame a little old lady for doin ya job, good on ya sweet heart.
cathy myors - No, it's not right a stranger is disciplining another child, that should be the job of the parent.
But I tell you what, I got up a little brat which was ramming its own pram repeatedly into my leg and second time took the skin off my heel. You know, that disconnected ferret of a mother didn't care and was asked to leave by the manager when she blamed everyone but her piss-poor parenting. The quality of parenting is these days is deplorable in some centres and I don't blame any elderly folks getting annoyed having to put up with some of the worst child behaviour this country has ever known.
Seriously parents, you SURELY know right from wrong so how about teaching your brats some. Because YOU are going to be the ones first smacked, punched and dished out insolence by your own feral teenagers, later if you don't teach them how to behave.
robyn ward mclean - No, but telling them off for doing something they shouldn't is ok because some parents let their kids run wild and don't care. Others just don't listen to their parents but will listen to other people telling them off!
kaitlyn louise munro - If people actually parented their children and not let them behave badly the lady would never have felt the need to. What if the elderly lady had dementia? She would act out of character with many things irritating her. The take away message is control your children. Can't get them to behave in public leave them at home don't force the rest of us to put up with your feral children.
philippa holm - Did the child need to be reprimanded? What was the mother/child doing at the time? Not saying a smack was appropriate, however it takes a community to raise a child.
ryland mahoney - . Kid probs deservered a smack . 2 way argument. If a stranger smacked my daughter I would probs bury them, on the other hand I wouldnt allow my daughter to act in a manner in public where a elderly person would feel the need to give her a smack

TODAY: NEVER TOO LATE: 94-year-old, Marjorie Davey, has enrolled in the University of Tasmania, taking on her first university degree! We discuss in What's Making News! #today9Comments:
kandy-taline fielding - My neighbour is 91 and still attends Griffith University on the Gold Coast .. And walks there rain hail or shine .. Occasionally he will catch the bus there if he's running late. He is a Russian mathematician .. A very intelligent man. I'd love for you to do a story on him.
rhiannon muntean - Studying and using the brain can prolong life expectancy. Maybe she's a very intelligent woman and got sick of doing nothing and wanted to learn and explore as much as possible, or maybe she had a lifelong dream to study a certain area... I personally think this is awesome and the majority aren't open-minded enough to realise that. Not everyone likes to do nothing.
janina graham - I think this is a misuse of resources . Some young person who actually needs a degree will be missing out. I don't think that's fair
melissa fraser - If it weren't for mature age students, particularly those that pay up front, there wouldn't be the numbers to run many arts units. Her perspective will be invaluable to her classmates. Learning is a lifelong process, obviously some of the above commentators are suffering early brain death.
joann tulett - I think this lady has paid enough taxes over the years and supported many families. Good for her! Beats sitting in her lounge room waiting for visitors. Shame on you people being disrespectful!
donela perry - i am in rural Victoria where choices for education are limited , money and spaces should be for our youth , i am a aged care worker so i know how amazing the generation is but still with people turned down as classes full, and so many young with out choices i think the use of resources are miss used
kimmy brown - What a waste of space and internet to comment negatively in any way...at that age I'm sure she has money to pay for it so shut up dummies
jo bevan - I am sure this lady payed her taxes over her earlier life - you're a discrace Brian!
jo bevan - To those posting negative feedback....
You're A discrace to Australia!!!
liz morcom - why would you bother Dy? so that you can learn to spell perhaps?
patrice o'farrell - And that poor young person that studied so hard to get in and it was taken up by an old person who has no real need to get a degree..
chantelle moffet - All you rude people pull your heads out your arses! She obviously wants to do something with these last few years of her life whether it be 1 or 10, leave the poor old innocent lady alone and go and do something with your life's.
fiona blanch - Never too old to keep learning.
cecilia castro - OMG, she's going to love it. I entered Sydney College of the Arts, The University of Sydney as a mature age student and I absolutely love it. Congratulations Marjorie make the most of it and attend all the functions. <3
julie switzer knight - Good luck, Marjorie. I don't feel that old @ 60, I have enrolled at uni also.
angela mccormick - that's lovely...we had a graduate at Southern Cross University in 2010 who was 97. Here is his story: http://www.northernstar.com.au/news/at-97-allan-gets-the-fourth-degree-allan-stewart/1368569/
justin hartley - Cool take up a position a young person could of had. What a waste of time and funds.
therese therese - Why?? Enjoy the last few years of your life, by taking a wild holiday or wild ride or something. The last thing I want to do at my age is go to uni, and I am 30 years younger then you.
jeannie elliott - I don't think it's anyone else's business how this lady pays her fees, good luck to her
brenda crick - I applaud you Marjorie! My great grandmother got her driver's license at 60 and gave me inspiration (I am nearly through my first year of a degree at 44 years old) and I have always had the attitude that you are never too old to learn and we learn new things every day; but you 'take the cake' Marjorie, good on you!
jo bevan - Its very Un Australian to use the excuse Tax Payer to put down an elderly lady who wishes to attend University.

mary-anne godfrey - How do you know he doesn't have family and friends right in the thick of the fires Kathryn Danby? As many have said, Karl has to go where he is sent. How disgusting of you not to think that he may rather be in Victoria covering that news. Oh, and have you thought that he may be traumatised from being in the fires last time and may not want to go through that again. I have family and friends who live in Warrandyte and Heathcote and they couldn't give a fig where Karl is.
chris nuttall - OMG stay safe everyone !!!
sarah addis - Can't believe how many people have taken my photo overnight
suzi sikanovski - @ Kathryn Danby, it's where the stations producers have sent him to cover the story, you dingbat!
kathryn danby - While real people's lives are destroyed by these fires Karl decides to wait outside a friggin prison in bali for a druggie !!! What a disgusting insult to those who are involved in these fires!
karen maguire - Frightening ! Stay safe
diana petera - Now this is worth giving money to not that drug mole over in Bali .
faye maddaford - We also saw the fires as we flew in and were horrified. Our thanks and prayers for the brave firefighters.
heather cawrse - OMG why do people have to comment so nastily about someone who is doing the job they are paid to do whether it is on tv or elsewhere.
ray garnar - Peter Matters Robert Shannon
doug tandberg - The short video of the Morwell fires was the log storage are at the Australian Paper mill at Maryvale. Upwards of 100,000 cubic meters of logs have been destroyed.
helen rankin - Very scarey. Thinking of all concerned, locals and firefighters.
My husband was trucking yesterday and was horrified by people pulling up on the Hume taking photos while standing on the bonnets of their cars. He said he got a fright as he came around the corner as some weren't even off the road properly....parked in the emergency lane!!! Unbeleivable!
susan britton - Thoughts & prayers for those who are affected by the fires...please stay safe.
sarah rozema - Sending much love back home in Victoria. Stay safe.
soula christou - So scary let's hope the CFA contain all these fires today and that everyone stays safe.
elle tee kaye - Today please give warnings if you are going to show footage of charred animals that are still alive. The footage Deb just showed of the charred Kangaroo was on the screen for way too long. Not everyone wants to view this sadness.
sherree miller - @kathryn danby... Is this really what you want to argue about when there is such devastation happening around the state ..... FYR Karl has been in Bali since Friday, well before the fires even started. Yes he probably has some say in whether he wants to do particular stories.... But I'm sure he has thought I've been assigned the job of covering Bali & I have to see it out & my co-workers are very capable of covering the fires in Victoria
vazzo mtb - Stay safe brothers and sisters in their fighting the blazes! Just know your limits and take breaks when that heat gets too much.
^electronic devices only need to be switched off during take off and landing love lol
elissa macdonald - Brutal to see love Victoria
lana banks - it would be really helpful to us in Wallan, Kilmore & Darraweit Guim to see aerial footage of the fires because it is really hard to get information as to exactly where the fires are in comparison to our homes!!
patandbetty lowrey - stay safe everyone

Don't miss the MUST SEE TV EVENT of the ye (Type: photo | Published: 2014-02-09T01:58:01+0000)
TODAY: It's the incredible story everyone wants to know... Don't miss the MUST SEE TV EVENT of the year, TONIGHT 8.40pm on Channel 9! #SchapelleComments:
mustafa al-hassan - Really?? Stop making stupid people famous!!! INXS is so much better! At least they're likeable and had good music when they were together.
cameron wayne sams-munro - correction not everyone cares!
beth snape - I don't really care, why do we have sympathy for her and her family. She simply got caught. Her father owned a farm who grew paddocks of stuff for selling and then her brother is I believe in gaol right now for dealing, who I might add was with her then. Why do we celebrate this?? Same as the actor the other day that died of an overdose. They say he was a wonderful person but what makes him different to the person slumped in the streets day after day, nothing.
tony warden - Pity channel 9 can't report on the plight of the drought stricken areas of Australia where farmers are suicidal and stock are dying of starvation. Even better donate the money they are prepared to pay this scumbag family toward providing support to decent people.
christine parusel - This is one "Must See" event I won't be seeing. INXS tonight for me!
mustafa al-hassan - There are two REAL Australians to be worth following on tonight's TV.
1- the INXS TV event which looks at their beginnings, life, and how it all started.
2- the Winter Olympics. Real inspiring people doing their country proud.
Unlike this idiot who is being paraded as a celebrity!
kathryn bridgette bellamy - You have just lost a channel nine supporter. Disgusting that you would even air trailer trash family. Way to show our kids of the future that it's ok to smuggle drugs and make millions off tv shows. Unbelievable!
samisoni vave - Stupid the whole family are a bunch of drug dealers
nicola farrington - Can't understand why this is all over the news! What about our farmers. They are shooting stock and then themselves because of lack of rain and feed!!! Make them our headline not the drug smuggler who looks pretty!
lloyd wright - I won't be watching the drug pusher, stop treating her like a hero!! She's not,,,
krakowsky kathleen - Inxs on channel 7 - no one wants to KNOW chapelles story - she is a drug smuggler .. Convicted -
rhonda franks - Sorry I'm washing my hair lol.. If she makes a cent out of this then we really know our media is a pack if scum bags that promote illegal activities..
will jovancic - Insult to Michael Hutchence. INXS is the only 'Remarkable' story on tonight & forever.
darren james - This "everyone" you speak of doesn't include me...or so far anyone else I know
kerry whitney - I am over so over hearing about this. I think Sam Johnson who is riding around Australia on
a unicycle raising awareness and money for breast cancer is more newsworthy than this.. He is on the last leg of his epic journey but does he get the same media coverage. He is doing something positive that is going to help all woman and men of Australia but do you hear any of this?? No.., I know where and who my support, my money and my energy will be going to... Sam you are a legend and hope that you get just as much news coverage when you finish your journey.
karen n kevin johnsen - Is her only regret!!
kyleigh n andrew breust - Dont blame it on the sunshine, Dont blame it on the moonlight.Dont blame it on the goodtimes.Blame it on the boogie
karlene sheather - Pass. Inxs is on :)
rebecca donaghy-button - No one cares! She did nine years for some pot in another country and we have pedophiles and rapists walking out on the street to reoffend in less than 5. That's something we SHOULD care about!
judy simpson - will be watching INXS not her
anne brady - Sorry but u cant match INXS..bad timing :/
