CNN International: The world's deaf community is outraged over the "fake" sign language interpreter at yesterday's memorial service for Nelson Mandela. http://cnn.it/1dpBJbRComments:
si dig - All he did was throw gang signs
ttoille .j nosile - Was he really "fake" or was he perhaps signing in the native language(s) of South Africa..?? I think Americans need to be careful of projecting their culture, values & norms in casting judgement in other parts of the World.
alahbmol opest - Welcome to Africa where jobs are given nt by merit bt by who ur friends with/related to!!...im ashamed to be African now! thats nt what MANDELA fought for!!
draagluh irak - It's not funny when millions of people who are challenged with poor hearing cannot participate in an important event. Despicable!
siwel nialrebmahc - You guys are even getting angry at the wrong thing. Do you know the event was one of the most poorly organized in terms of protocol and security? I have been the head of National security and protocol in my country, and no sensible county will have a visiting Head of state for an event without proper security and ceremonial guards on standby throughout. The entrance of the stadium was left so loosely open, no one was checked, there were no ceremonial guards to salute the heads of state and dignitaries. Infact, it was just by luck that there was no incident. To me, that was the most foolish thing to ever do. Several Heads of state were embarrassed but could not say anything, as the entrance was just so rowdy and there was no form of control of any type. Even if they used their elite force to guard the place, there was no way they could have prevented any incident from happening. I hope someone learn a lesson here
eilsel magn - thought he was introducing new dance moves
odot ironihsoy - Looks like that guy is doing the Macarena! lol
ennoki amuwkuhc - Lol! they probably didn't understand the language he was using.
ssiaw ynneb - The world is fake....hahaha
arraveug noicaicnuna efana - I think nobody has confirmed that this deaf interpreter is a "fake" one.. What I know is that there are different deaf interpretations not just one language... Do not judge as you do not want it to...
sretlaw enirehtac - He is not accredited.
snommit yhtorod - This is stupid why would they do this ? If they couldn't find a signer then just don't use one.
elabihc leumas - I am so disgusted. This is worse than the booing. This is sad and shocking. But I hope the deaf worldwide enjoyed the celebration of Mandela's life and achievements. Quite sad.
otibaf cire - He was dancing Gangnam style
ttocs .m yllek - You may not have a racist bone but your lips spew a racist statement!
recneps sinned dlorah - Hahaha. . .that's just wrong!
tdeolced dnomde - Now we'll have to do it all over again!

ammake ammake ssecnirp - Obama is naturally African.... he knows the tradition.....in Africa when an old man dies....we celebrate....please can someone tell CNN to stop the Gossip and look for a better News thank you!!!
agun selrahc - this was not a funeral. the selfie wasnt out of place. in africa, when an old man dies, its a celebration.
atsoc anairda - This topic is irrelevant. You complain too much. Leave him alone.
akidikes amob retep - I'm 4rm Africa, we don't mourn a man that dies @a ripe old age,we would rather celebrate his life instead. I see no biggie in the selfie
namzug dnanidref - If only Mandela is alive he must be with Pres. Obama having selfie pictures too. Come on guys! It's a celebration of life, Mandela was also a happy person too... Let's give them a break. ..:-)
fira haraf - Obama is naturally African.... he knows the tradition.....in Africa when an old man dies....we celebrate....please can some tell CNN to stop the Gossip and look for a better News thank you!!!
nb esialb - The mood was rather euphoric, not solemn. It was as much a celebration of Mandela's legacy as it was a memorial. So I don't expect that everyone should have folded their arms and worn a long face. Presidents and prime ministers too can have a bit of fun. Deal with it!
I'm African and the way we perform funerals is we eat, drink, dance, sing, laugh, cry, and celebratere all at the same time. It wasn't outlandish. Very OK. You should be glad your president also takes selfies. It makes him more of a regular folk you can hang out and have fun with.
ppod harobed - Mandela had friends. Friends rejoice in celebration. Good for Obama.
malemeodo 'uvajed' eecyak' - I just stumbled upon Piers Morgan Live on the TV. I find his comments about president Obama et al's selfiebeing inappropriate really appalling. Its really all some self righteous BS and comes ever so dangerously close to bigotry. It would have been totally different if Madiba had died young or violently. He rather died a grand old man and in peace, surrounded by his family. The heads of states and governments and indeed every other person who attended the memorial from all nooks of the world were there to celebrate Madiba's life and pay tribute to the man. it was a celebration of Madiba's life for goodness sakes so WHY ON EARTH CANT THEY TAKE SELFIES? What is inherently wrong with that?? you guys at CNN should take a look at pictures of ordinary South Africans taken on the day and see how full of joy they were. It was almost like a carnival. or you want Mr. Obama to be the proverbial outsider who wept more than the bereaved? correct yourselves please and as for that Piers Morgan silly talk, he should just shut his face period.
ppod harobed - Hey if you were celebrating the passage of Mandela, one of the world's greatest leaders, and you were lucky enough to be sitting next to Obama, you'd take a selfie too. It's a historical document now.
civomami asivle - Weird how we forget that leaders are human beings too and like to do everyday things...
ppod harobed - It's the way of the world. Selfies are just a way of sharing. Get over it.
annehcu ardnas - This topic is irrelevant. You complain too much. Leave him alone.
oaja ila - Mandela death is Celebration of a life well spent and not mourning
arubmayn zehcnip - I'm 4rm Africa, we don't mourn a man that dies @a ripe old age,we would rather celebrate his life instead. I see no biggie in the selfie
awlamaw neiviv - Mind you Obama is human...unless u are expecting robotic behaviours....
wal gnuhn - i see selfie is no need to be controversial in this situation, u can see that every people were dancing and singing in this stadium
ppod harobed - Yeah Michelle was smiling in approval the second before this shot and then she got distracted. So what. She's not mad at him.
leba assilem enilorac - No wrong here ...just light selfie moments ..drop it already
kaiwzoj yram - Must be a slow news day....
gnibot nomis - so what man.. so if he mourn mandela will rise from his grave??

setneuf ael - indeed ...Ray Mond
seranil odnanref siul - Considering how much TIME magazine has taken out intelligent reporting over the last decade or so, this is actually a great report and a very good choice. And to think he came in second in 2005 conclave. I think the Pope will be a person of greatness if he takes concrete actions against the crime of sexual abuse of minors by some members of his clergy. The article summarizes his actions on the matter: "And on Dec. 5, in a long overdue move, the group of eight named a new commission on sex abuse, the problem of priests preying on children they had vowed to protect. It is the church’s darkest existential problem in an era of existential problems; the commission aims to study better ways to protect children, screen programs that involve children and suggest new ways to create safe environments and choose the priests to lead them. At worst, the Cardinals are laying out a new set of best practices for far-flung dioceses to follow. At best, they are admitting that the Vatican had focused too much attention on the legal challenges of the sex-abuse crisis rather than on the behavioral problems at its core." However, IMHO, there will be significant closure if he actually gives investigative and prosecuting authority to civilian law enforcement.

neerual zoñum - Victoria Andrea Contreras
ihahs rudahab lab - J.Watson and F. Crick discovered double helix DNA in 1953, now some dedicated scientists including Craig Venter and group decorded human genome are already making artificial life or biodevices or say life in essence itself which perhaps originated about 3.6 billion years ago. A tiny living cell originated from dust+moisture+tiny sentinels that turned sunlight in to biofuel of algae in to abundance... thus procreating life forms. Now I am thinking if "Soul" ever exist in living body then how to put new soul in new bioform to alleviate life of (new) human being to super human or extraterrestrial (space visitors). Retrofit DNA or say genes will drive higher form of life finally to perform not in classic way but in projected way then what! Become celestial tourist in Soulless universe!!! If there is Consciousness then there is God in what form!!!?
alumam aniratak - hahaha I wonder did they have a God LOL :P

CNN International: “Rwanda would have been child’s play” had South Africa broken out into a race war during the transition from apartheid, says Mac Maharaj, who was imprisoned with Nelson Mandela on Robben Island. “And there were times that we were on the brink of that.” http://cnn.it/1iQAAAIComments:
inatlus anim - Such a shame that US called him a terrorist and kept him on the watch list until 2008...
enaogobolham gnesibahtn - A social worker is what? Mute, deaf, blind and ignorant or worse a hypocrite? It is precisely my work that exposes me to these so called wretched of our land that opens my eyes to the realities of our country. Maybe I am not politically correct but reality is, nothing is done for the majority who are poor, illiterate and hopeless. I am not going to play this game of pretending all is well when we all know the truth. Mandela was incarcerated for the majority of his adult life yet has become wealthy in 23 years, his comrades are billionaires, their children and grandchildren are also billionaires and the majority, many of whom idolize him are living in tin houses, it is raining right now and that means most of those people will lose most of their possessions, will need shelter, food etc. Guess who will be helping? Definitely not Mr R200 million property or the Mandela Foundation. No it is people like me who will be out there giving and helping cos we still subscribe to the values of ubuntu.
ens anabizahst - Don't believe everything Mac Maharaj say, this guy hardly tells the truth and here in SA we call him a Spin-docter. Thank you Madiba.
mileynon hpesoj - As Africans and the world mourn and remember the contributions and legacy of our dear Tata Nelson Mandela, We called on the international community’s to promote what is just, equity, justice, freedom and human right for all.
In addition join me in calling on the world and the following countries to immediately and unconditionally release human rights activist and political prisoners.
Cuba, China, Israel, Iran, Russia, Zimbabwe, North Korea, Egypt, Uganda, Burma or Myanmar, Indonesia
Bahrain, Belarusian, Azerbaijan, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Angola, DRC Congo, Syria, Colombia, Philippine
Ukraine, Mexico, Swaziland, ADD MORE
You can add more countries and if possible human rights activist and political prisoners name.
Long live freedom and dignity for ALL?
xuor el kcered - He would be the first one to be shot.
sivad dnalrag semaj - so what you white folks are saying is that a white man fighting for freedom is a heroic freedom fighter but a black man fighting for freedom is a terrorist well in that case if mandela was a terrorist then so was george washington
edewjam-izawqnm elozilam - Date: 11 December, 1961
Albert Luthuli delivers his Nobel Lecture after receiving the Peace Prize the previous day. Luthuli was the first South African to receive the Nobel Prize for Peace. At the time, he was serving a ban under the apartheid government for his role as president of the ANC, which had been banned after the Sharpeville massacre of 1960. However, in order to accept the award in Oslo, Norway, the South African government issued Luthuli with a special ten-day passport. Although the ban was lifted, another (Luthuli's fourth) was imposed in May 1964.
Since Luthuli's prize, three other South Africans have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize: Archbishop Desmond Tutu in 1984, and former presidents FW de Klerk and Nelson Mandela, jointly, in 1993.

iniwluzm ydna olubajn - Africa would be a better place if all African Leaders were like Him
ezeubawn akenn ainohtna - There's no Leader like Madiba Nelson Mandela. He was/is the World's Statesman and we'll celebrate is great achievements forever. May Madiba's soul rest in perfect peace, Amen
sregdor lyrrad - Oh, would you like a little trivia? Nelson Mandela. Yes, he was in prison 27 years. Do you know he was offered countless opportunities for release? He only had to do one thing: He had to renounce terrorism. That's all. Over the 27 years, if he would have renounced terrorism, they woulda let him out of prison. He didn't do it. He would not renounce terrorism. I'm not trying to step on anything today. I'm just passing on truthful information.
laeno aniger sito - Someone here is high on bath salt
narom liw - right wing America hates Mandela, it is a sick sort of animalistic hatred for the man. I am thoroughly embarrassed by how so many have responded to this man, knowing nothing more than far right wing accusations of him.
leahcim nov łahcim - And look at South Africa today ! Rape, murder capital of the world xD Excellent job he have done..
rehsif adnilrd - No matter what is said or how it goes. People are more comfortable believing lies than the truth. Hate isn't pretty on anyone.

CNN International: Why did the U.S. have Nelson #Mandela on a terror watch list for years? http://cnn.it/18OCIEZComments:
llavots leuqar - Because he was a black man breaking white men stupid laws!!!!!...and THANK GOD he did!!! May God bless Nelson Mandela!!..#RIP. #WELLDONEGOODANDFAITHFULSERVANT
iomrowb abèr - Cause they have nothing better to do
yllennef werdna - Don't forget that the US supported the Apartheid regime during the Cold War and viewed the ANC and other human rights demonstrators as potential trouble makers due to their links to communism. Completely contradictory to American values and very embarrassing for them now. Anyone who doesn't embrace "Democracy", in America's view, is a subversive, a rogue regime, a terrorist who threatens "international security".
isajam honil - So anyone that fights to preserve their identity and protect the rights of its people who isnt European is a terrorist?
miko yessab - Terrorism is a word coined by the west with a subjective definition.
setnarac ailuj yhtak - they were threatened of his influence
snillum anitsirc airam - Because when its americans against the english its a revolution with heroes, but when its the reaction to one of the most horrible government ever but not the US its terrorism. Just like the atomic bomb everybody was a threat but the only one to use was the US. Rwanda was genocide but the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki was what a party?
zzddik htderb traeh ymmab - If u have him as terror on your list what do yo call yo ex president bush? Terroomania or what?
motrebla otrebla - when this white people kill no one label them terrosist
tshoj netsroht - Well he was fighting for freedom against white oppression, Malkom x and Dr. Martin Luther king were killed. Mandela was "just" put on a list. So the next thing they are going to tell us is that Obama did not know about it?!! I feel sorry for the american people, regardless if black or white. And by the way if you realy want to claim the title "Land of the free" get rid of the NSA for gods sake, wake up people!!!! God bless Mr. Nelson Mandela, a man with unbreakable integritty, he is and will ramain a candle in the dark, for ever!
onairos yvsur - Bcoz US is a crazy country!
demmahom ahpatsum - simple answer, in one word "injustice"
aicrag mj - His voice was to powerful for a man of color....and the white man feels threaten and fearful when people stsrt to follow them!
aserg llotrab emreh nemrac - Do you know what paranoia means??
zerimar labac leinad - Because during the Cold War, America had a nasty habit of supporting unjust regimes in the guise of trying to halt the spread of Communism. It is a well-known fact that Mandela got some support from then-USSR, hence the terrorist listing. For the US back then, "a leftist is a Communist is a terrorist".
ebidis efilnyojn adnohr - Purposefully Ignorant! That's why
nosnhoj esoj - Should we care now?
aluvag divad - "MUCH of the sanctimonious grieving for Nelson Mandela is not just a sin against history - but a danger....He was for decades a man of violence. In 1961, he broke with African National Congress colleagues who preached non-violence, creating a terrorist wing.
He later pleaded guilty in court to acts of public violence, and behind bars sanctioned more, including the 1983 Church St car bomb that killed 19 peopleMandela even suggested cutting off the noses of blacks deemed collaborators. His then wife Winnie advocated "necklacing" instead - a burning tyre around the neck...Mandela's support for other leaders of violence is even less forgivable. He maintained close ties to Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and backed Palestinian terrorist leader Yasser Arafat. As president in 1997, he gave his country's highest award for a foreigner to Libya's dictator, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, who'd donated $10 million to the ANC. He gave the same award to the corrupt Indonesian president Suharto, who he said had donated $60 million.
He supported Nigerian coup leader Sani Abacha, refusing to say a word publicly to stop the 1995 hanging of activist Ken Saro-Wiwa." - The Courier Mail, Australia
namkcih eikcaj - Because all freedom fighters are labelled 'terrorists' by the people who fear that their power may be eroded by them. It's all down to fear and cowardice.
yrotciv semaj - Because he was a terrorist and a communist, both proven
hajile nugesulo alosadniyo - Don't mind the US.
