- Will you be getting your latte elsewhere? Starbucks is "respectfully requesting" that gun owner (Type: photo | Published: 2013-09-18T16:03:48+0000)
KSL 5 TV: Will you be getting your latte elsewhere? Starbucks is "respectfully requesting" that gun owners leave their weapons outside their stores. Coming up on the Browser 5.0 at 12:30 we will look why the chain is making the request, and at how people are reacting. Tell us what you think and we may use your comment on air.Comments:
val jo hess sansevero - I wonder if that includes police officer, I understand they drink a lot of coffee ?
susan worthen flores - They are asking to not bring them into the stores but they also will not ask you to leave if you have it. However those who carry concealed if you are doing it right they will never know you have it anyway.
jeffrey luck - I own a gun store that is across the street from a Starbucks in Draper.
We used to spend a lot of money in there daily.
We supported them on the days that there were calls for boycotts.
I personally am a gold card holder.
They are a business that can choose their own policies. I as a citizen can now choose to spend my money else where. Sorry Starbucks but your policies affect our choices.
All the crew at Darkside!
stacie hogan - Man people are dumb... all this is going to do is basically put up a big flag to criminals saying "there are no guns in here, we are open for robbery or a shooting spree". I am not a coffee drinker but I would not support any business that doesn't support the second amendment. Not that it matters as I have my ccw and you would have to search me to find it. And good luck with that
lisa james - Yeah, because gun-free zones have helped so many people...smh.
nicholas ill - I'm going to "respectfully disregard" their request and continue concealing in their stores. I understand and respect their right to ask me to leave my gun in my car, and fully expect them to respect my right to protect myself regardless of where I am.
bobbi abplanalp - Good luck defending yourself/family with your double soy latte and bran muffin, I'll be down the street enjoying my Maverick coffee and my right to bear arms
janelle maxwell west - Well with all the shooting I can't say I blame them. Besides they are a business and they can refuse anyone.
luke draayer - I didn't put my life on the line as a Marine to give up my 2nd amendment rights. If Howard Schultz wants me to leave my weapon before I come in he can ask me in person instead of putting his barista's in an awkward situation. I guess somebody should educate Howard on the fact that most gun incidents occur in a gun free zones. I guess my gold card can collect dust as I go elsewhere from now on.
amanda putnam - My husband has his concealed weapons permit, and it absolutely makes me feel safer when I know he is carrying his gun!
Isn't it kind of a welcome sign for criminals when a place says "no guns allowed"?
tracy flynn mccormick - @ Mary B... I am a pistol packing grandma of 7! You say that you wouldn't go anywhere that people carry guns.... You would be staying at home and going nowhere then! I pack my gun everywhere I go, especially when my children and grandchildren are with me. Because I value our lives as well as my neighbors.
brian hindberg - Where I'm a concealed firearm permit holder bottom line is you would never no I had it on me anyways if I walked into that crappy coffee shop and if I ever had to brandish it to protect a life in there for some odd reason I think I would get a thank you from the cashier that was being robbed because she gets to go home to her family.. like it or not next time you walk into a store in UT look around 1 out of ever 5 person is carrying a gun and you dont even no it... until they go to save your family from harm then what will your reaction be???????????
stephanie buchholz parker - A business has the right to refuse to serve those with guns and gun owners have the right to take their business elsewhere. However, legal law abiding gun owners are not the problem so all Starbucks has done is tell all the violent criminals where to go to commit a crime without fear of someone taking them out in the process.
matt priest - There are only a select few places where we cannot carry a gun, ( check your state and fed laws) sorry Starbucks your not on that list.
sandra thorson larkin - I'm sure all of the serial shooters will read the sign and decide to take their shooting spree elsewhere :)
tiffany flinders - Sounds about right. They don't support our troops either. I'll stick with local coffee houses!
cathy collard - If their customer has a concealed carry permit there isn't a thing they can do about it. Are they going to frisk people on their way in? Stupid. Just a way to get publicity.
barbara jensen - Starbucks can request whatever they want....but that is not going to stop those people who intend to rob them not do it...I for one support our 2nd amendment, we all have the right to carry a gun. I'm so tired of people thinking when something bad happens lets take guns away, that isn't going to stop crime....it's going to still happen no matter what because that is what criminals do...they brake the law.
jesse bond youngberg - Mary Bilderback, you're a liberal through and through...looking at things as one sided as possible...using that liberal logic that thinks that if you pass a law that somehow criminals will obey it? An oxymoron for sure.
It's offensive to me that you would imply that gun owners would just kill somebody.
... there's a 180 degree difference between your average gun owner and somebody who would slaughter innocent people, and the fact that you would compare the two as being similar offends my very soul.
How much good have responsible gun owners done in this world? Do you remember the story less than a couple years ago about the man with a concealed carry that stopped a knife-wielding lunatic in the Smiths grocery store in Salt Lake? As soon as that gun came out the slashing and cutting stopped immediately...he didn't even have to fire a single shot! It's about preparedness and self defense.
courtney nicole kruse - Mary Bilderback, you are an idiot. You think gun supporters support people and children dying? What kind of sicko are you. I am a concealed carrier and I do it for protection. Protection for myself and others. And just ask all the parents of the Newtown CT victims if they are scared of people. You bet they are. There are some crazy people out there. If one of the teachers had a gun, think of the lives that could have been saved. Guns aren't the problem, people are. It's a tool. Tools are not evil. They can be used for evil, but also for good. You maker sick to my stomach!! Grow up and face reality!!!
jeff s baty - If a person has a concealed weapons permit, they should be able to take that weapon anywhere. What good is to have a concealed weapons permit and not be allowed to wear it?? My 2nd Amendment rights will come first and foremost before any cup of coffee.
- Do you obey the speed limit when driving through rural parts of Utah?
You'll now see higher (Type: photo | Published: 2013-09-17T22:28:28+0000)
KSL 5 TV: Do you obey the speed limit when driving through rural parts of Utah?
You'll now see higher speed limits along Utah Highways, some up to 80 miles per hour.
Coming up on KSL at 5, We'll tell you where the speed limit is changing and tell you why the Utah Department of Transportation is upping the limit.Comments:
veronica robison - Utah drivers are the worst!
kami kapp bost - Oif the idiots doing 55 would move to the right like the law states, less accidents would happen. But when your going 75 and are all of a sudden cut off by an idiot going 55 for no reason, that causes accidents. Slower traffic move to the right.
corey christiansen - I must say if its safe to drive that speed then I see no problem. The autobahn in Germany is one of the safest roads in the world and it has no speed limit. You drive what speed you feel you should.
sarra nielson - Everyone drives 80-90 and if you don't, you will be driven off the road. The killer is those who drive 55 on the freeway. Come on! At least go the speed limit or use your hazards. You are more of a danger.
ryan york - AWESOME! Contrary to what the media may tell you, when the speed limit goes UP, accidents go DOWN! I bet this will save some lives!
erik anderson - No, federal and state studies have consistently shown that the drivers most likely to get into accidents in traffic are those traveling significantly below the average speed. According to research, those driving 10 mph slower than the prevailing speed are more likely to be involved in an accident. That means that if the average speed on an interstate is 70 mph, the person traveling at 60 mph is more likely to be involved in an accident than someone going 70 or even 80 mph. Also the reason speeds are going up is because studies have shown most people will not go faster then about 83mph.
mickey foss - now they can kill each other faster???
steve fisher - I generally stick to 75 in rural areas that are posted 75. There are multiple reasons -
1. No need to worry about a ticket.
2. The more you increase speed the more likely you die in an accident.
3. After 65mph you lose fuel economy, and over 75mph it is even worse. No need to put wear and tear on my car just to save an extra 15 minutes.
rick reid - they found less accidents unless the self appointed speed nazis are in the fast lane
shayne batt - Just please don't go or expect me to go 80 when it's snowing
landon cheeto cheatham - And everyone will still be going 5+ over
erik anderson - Alina the fast lane is for faster flowing traffic. As Posted on I-15 "It's the law Slower traffic keep right" the reason this is a law is because people slowing the whole flow of traffic cause accidents. It dose not say this is not a speeding lane so its OK to pull in this lane and slow faster moving traffic.
hilda cuevas - 80 love it about time
jeanna johnson nichols - Now if we could just get drivers in our state to use the left lane as a passing lane only, we'd be in business.
calindy hayden - We need a speed limit and a minimum! If you can't drive at least 60mph then they shoukdnt be on the highways!
jennifer nielsen - @ Laura, they did test studies and found that death rates were note affected in the test 80 mph zones.
tara gardner - Sweet. Just in time for my road trip to Vegas!
april watt sosa - Yes. Rural cops are the only ones who have given me tickets in the last 5 years.
matthew m canfield - Actually @Jennifer, just came back from California, Utah drivers by FAR are the worst... Way too much tailgating here.
amber arnesen lauber - I will only go a maximum of 5 over the speed limit. It drives me nuts that even when I'm doing 70 in a 65 I get passed like I'm standing still. It also drives me nuts that people treat the left lane (a.k.a. "fast lane") as a speed-limits-don't-apply-to-me lane.
clayton clark - "Speeds that high are NOT good for any vehicle!!! NEVER drive above 75, people!! (Best to stay under 65.) " clearly you have never driven a Porsche

KSL 5 TV: QUIZ: How many fatalities did Utah have on the roads in 2012? Tell us -- and be part of the road to Zero Fatalities by committing to buckling up here: http://ulink.tv/306. You will be entered to win a $50 gas card and an auto care kit!Comments:
jennifer weight - "Tell us how many people you think died and we'll enter you to win cash and prizes!" ......really?
ksl 5 tv - Everyday we are raising awareness about Buckle Up Week and how to be safer on the roads. This week and all year long, we've partnered with Zero Fatalities to raise awareness about this. You can find out more information here: http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=1179&title=road-to-zero-fatalities
katrina downs - One too many!!! Buckle up!
nathan weight - Poor choice for a quiz...
brian viernow - Awesome quiz lets make money on people who died. Humanity at its finest.
david goodall - Guess how many people died and win a gift card???
rachael huish - Gonna say 215 since you can look it right up on the internet. Why don't you just make it aware that there were way to many deaths. Instead of involving money into it or making it some kind of game.
halye bentzinger - 215. It's the lowest it's been since 1959. I wrote a paper on this.
pam skaggs peebles - I'd be happier with a question like "How many road fatalities do we want to see on Utah roads?" Enter to win. The answer of course would be zero.
james cook - 1 is too many...
mary a. cheney - How many are due to not wearing seat belts? People wake up and buckle up.
ben young - Really KSL??? Terrible facebook post
annmarie blodgett - What a quiz. Seems kinda morbid to ask.
lynn thomson - 215......still too many.
joni james - 215 too many. But, did you know this is the lowest amount since 1959?
scott stephens - Giving gifts on guessing how many people lost their lives? Seems a bit insensitive to me. Would you be doing the same thing about 9/11?
mary a. cheney - Doesn't this State have a hefty fine for not wearing a seat belt? If not they should, maybe that will entice people to take a minute and snap that buckle.
neil sutton - Zero is TOTALLY unrealistic! From what I see EVERY SINGLE morning commuting to and from Tooele county things like road rage, tailgating, and major speeding (15 to 30 mph) OVER the speed limit! Especially on 201 where the speed limit is 60 and multiple people are doing 75 to 90 mph consistently! Utah drivers are IDIOTS!
brandon vincent greenhalgh - I think we should change it to some like "26 fatalities, a goal most of us can live with". Because we will never have zero fatalities. It's just not going to happen. So lets make a goal we can actually reach.
amber koehler - Too many. People really need to be more careful and realize that an accident isn't just something that happens to other people. It could happen to you or someone you love at any moment.
sina toiaivao aumavae - 215 lives in 2012 — the lowest since 1959.

KSL 5 TV: Public shaming for kids: good punishment or bad punishment? Hear more on KSL AM right now.Comments:
cayte osborne - NOTHING about shaming someone is good.
stephanie healy almanza - Depends on what it is. For example, there is that picture of a dad going around where he is wearing short shorts in public while with his daughter to try to get her to see how uncomfortable it makes him when she wears short shorts. He was trying to prove a point. That is public shame but not detrimental to the teenage daughter in my opinion. Now making her wear an Amish dress or something like that to publicly shame her would be wrong.
jordan kimball harris - With all the focus today on bullying ,its hard for me to see this as being anything but that. The parent does it to make themselves look cool, and the child is humiliated in front of its peers. Parents need to grow up.
heather parker - They wanna act like fools in public, they can be punished the same way.
matt caldwell - It beats beating them
emily bryn williams - Be a parent. Not a bully.
sarah evans phillips - Unfortunately, it will scar the good kids for life and the bad kids won't even care...
tj bradley - Just another bad trend. Once all the Facebook and YouTube posts stop getting attention for it they will come up with something new. Parents getting their 15 mins of fame at the kids' expense. Sad.
don-cathy sadler - bad. It's a form of bullying.
mary jane grange - Disciplining in public is not discipline. It's humiliation which creates anger and resentment not redirection.
bridget fifield shepherd - Too many people not interested in raising their kids, which includes discipline.
Everything is considered 'abuse'....
So take the easy way and don't do anything. It'll make me lotsa money later when you have to bail them out of jail. :)
lyndsay larsen osburn - Everyone is so worried about upsetting their kids now days, that they don't punish them.period. We live in a society of entitled kids, teens, young adults. Nothing is abusive.or bullying about a sign holding punishment.
alex getts - Why is this even a question?
lesa monson richins mckie - What ever happened to talking with your children, relating with them? We were all teens at one time as well, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't appreciate being publicly shamed for things I do wrong. Love your children, talk with them!
gigi neslen - Is this the same general public who applauded the father who dressed his daughter in 80's clothes after she made fun of another girl's clothes?
austin burr - And this whole thing on bullying is bs tell your kids to stop being so fragile and stand up for themselves
andrea carter snow - Never good. There are better, less psychologically harmful ways of reprimanding a child. Parents have to remember that a child's brain, even into adolescence, isn't fully formed yet and they don't always have the foresight to all situations and decisions.
jandi dean - I believe it depends on what your intended outcome is. Are you attempting to create children (and thus adults) who are blindly obedient? If yes, humiliation, shame, bullying, guilt, etc. is the way to go. If you want your children to learn to be empathetic and trust their own judgement, all of these things should be avoided.
aubree walker shelley - No. I already have issues caring too much what others think of me. I don't need to teach my children that the reason to make correct choices is because of what the world thinks. That won't last.
shirley bailey - Never felt like a child should be disciplined publicly. It's embarrassing for them and their friends. Look, kids have enough to deal with growing up and fitting in, and bullying. Parents don't need to add to it in public
brent smith - never publicly do that to a child. it will do more harm in the long run

KSL 5 TV: Good morning! What is the most awkward moment you've ever had at work? (Comment below and then tune into KSL AM to see three of the most uncomfortable moments - all in one awkward video...)Comments:
lindsay armstrong - every day is awkward for a CNA ;)
don-cathy sadler - I was working at the pediatrician office and I gave a urine cup to a mom with a 5 year old there for his kindergarten physical. The mom took the cup into the bathroom without the child and proceeded to give me a sample of her urine. I let her finish, and when she came out, I gave her another cup and said, "thank you. now I need a sample from your son. lol
april christensen - I was working customer service and was about to end the phone call. But instead of telling the customer to have a nice day, I told him that I loved him...
bo winter - Most awkward moment I have ever had was two years ago, I was climbing into my dump truck at work, and just as I stepped up, I ripped the crotch right out of my Levi's. just when I jumped down to inspect the "damage", a female coworker was standing right there.. And nothing was left to the imagination.
candis hyde - Had a co- worker call another business looking for the rice bags you warm up calling them bed buddies. The best part is she started the conversation with, "so I'm looking for a bed buddy....oh but it's not for me, it's for my mother!"
becky berghout - This happened laat week!! He still keeps talking about it!! Lol
becky berghout - Accidentally punxhed my boss in an uncomfortable place while grabbing a sack!!
jill stoddard - My awkward moment was my first day working in the Collection Deptartment at Key Bank in daho. I was really scared to make my first call & all my employee's were listening & I asked for Jesus (as in god). I didn't know it was pronounced differently!!! Everybody started laughing so I hung up.
tanya stensland - My awkward moment was when I was trying to send a photo of me to my husband at the time and I ended up sending it to a co -worker that I had to talk to several times a day.
jennifer luft - I have a picture of my three kids in my office. I had a man come into my office and ask if they were my grandkids.
natalie bradford lebaron - I was 8 months pregnant and working reception at Mercedes Benz where the entire lobby has glass, see-through windows and doors. I was standing by the copy machine, next to one of my bosses who was standing at the fax machine. Right then, my black stretchy skirt slipped right down to my ankles. I was wearing panty hose, but no slip. I calmly, yet awkwardly, bent down over my enormous belly and retrieved my skirt. I stood up and said. "I just lost my skirt." To which my boss replied, "I didn't notice." With a smirk on his face. Okay, yeah, but what about all the other sales men and customers on the other side of the glass room? AWKWARD!
karen williams - A very handsome Fireman came into work , he walked up to the counter to be hrlped and I was so nervous and thinking what to say, like how can I help you or what can I get you. I ended up saying how can I get you making us both blush and other co-workers laughing on the floor.
cio hunt - We were at a team meeting when my co worker stands up and right in front of me his pants fell down...and he was going commando. Gross and awkward.
susan barry withers - My awkward moment came when I was 16 years old working at Clearfield Swimming Pool. After swimming lessons , the girls would go into the guys locker room and shower together in our swimming suits. Prior to entering the men's shower room, I hollered, " is it clear"? I thought I heard, 'Yes'. Much to my surprise, when I walked in, there was a man standing in the shower undressed. I screamed and he turned around from front side grabbing himself to backside full moon! Oh boy was I embarrassed!!!
robert weber - Most awkward: bathroom stall door opening while I was using the bathroom. Didn't realize the lock was broke. Kinda awkward
bruce hager - When I was 21 and got a job a First Security Bank. On my first day I was eating my lunch in the lunchroom and had a diet Pepsi. When I opened my can of pop it totally exploded and squirted my boss who was sitting right across from me. He stood up and said that he had better tun home and get a clean shirt. We were in Sugarhouse and he lived in Bountiful.
stephanie hegland - I was leaving a message for a customer and ended the call with "have a good day. I love you." Someone else in my office pointed it out to me because I didn't realize I said it. Made for a very awkward wait for the call back.
melissa ann earl - I work at a nursing home in the Alzheimer's unit and I walked in on two patients having sex so awkward to say the least .
tallelah johnson - Was in a hurry one morning. Was partially dressed. Grabbed a jacket & ran the kids to school. Went home, grabbed some coffee & went to work. As I was taking my jacket off, someone realized I had only a bra on & I hear silence & 'Ummmmmmm!!!!'
Embarrassing since the kitchen was only full of men that morning......!!!!!!
rebecca zaugg - I'm an HR Manager. My entire job is about awkward moments. Which reminds me, every single HR person I personally know, myself included, has an office poop story.
cassandra buttars crookston - I was pumping breast milk in our bathroom at work once and forgot to lock the door when my boss walked in.

KSL 5 TV: Tonight at 10: Piece by piece, a Utah man is building a boat in his backyard. Why? Probably not your first guess!
His story and plans for the future, tonight on KSL 5 News at 10Comments:
jodi finlinson - Seriously why are all you people being so harsh? You guys don't even know the story to this and all you snobby people are so quick to judge. And for Matt Caldwell it's obvious you don't know anything about a meth addict. Because first of all a meth addict would never be able to accomplish anything this fantastic without selling things off it to get high first let alone actually finish the project. So all you people that have commented negatively and rudely, you all are pricks. To the man who has built this amazing boat for whatever reason CONGRATULATIONS you should be very proud of yourself.
luchelle n jake rose - My dad is amazing. He has been building this boat since I was 12 ( half my life) :) I am one proud daughter, love you dad!
chris stock - This is my Dad's boat, Michelle D Wadsworth. He has been working on it for the past 12 plus years. This is why he's ready to retire, because his boat is just about finished.
lorrie callaway - Really, making fun of someone before you even hear his story? Do you all know what happened to the scoffers in Noahs story? Hope your met with mercy, not justice.
lana holmes - Because he can. Regardless as to the why, I find it impressive to have such talent.
scott watson - Looks like a boat for a 3 hour tour........a 3 hour tour...
matt caldwell - This isn't normal, but on meth it is
ricky joe montoya - is his name Noah?
jenn mayo nielsen - He is an exceptionally talented man and it's been SO fun to watch him build this beautiful boat!
rachel quintana hoggan - That is one awsome boat im with jodi finlinson what has this world come to what are we teaching are kids if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything
janelle maxwell west - They said " Not your first guess". So Noah Ark is not the answer. Good for him, that's a really nice looking boat. Wish I had the talents to build that!
bridgett cacho - That's my brother's boat. Stop the negative comments. He's a passionate hard worker.
stacey henke silva - Something for the grandkids
to play in, you know, like a tree house sorry of thing? That would be cool!
kandice ryan - That's my Neighbors boat!
tami casey - Awesome project. It looks wonderful :)
melissa c miller - Oh I love Matt's comment
sasha cuno - That is a cool boat! I wish I had this kind of a skill. Everyone needs a hobby. :)
kevin kimball - And the animals boarded 2x2. After the waters subsided, the lord sent a rainbow, as a promise, he would never destroy the earth again by flood. I see the boat, now where's the faith?
jodi finlinson - Yep been there done that. That's exactly why I know for a fact a meth addict wouldn't ever have anything that nice or be able to actually finish a project.
anthony maez - I need to see a permit!
brandon liddell - To sleep in duh!

KSL 5 TV: Tonight at 10: PETA proposes a graphic anti-hunting billboard for Utah.
The accident that may have sparked the campaign plus where Utah sportsmen say the message may be better received.
See the billboard and hear from both sides on KSL 5 News at 10.Comments:
ryan carter - PETA doesn't need a billboard because you news companies keep giving them free advertising. I don't know one hunter that will have his/her mind changed because of this. On the contrary, we all now want to get that elk.
PETA: people encouraging terrible advertising
saige marcotte - Peta people eating tasty animals
taun stewart - PETA, bunch of city folk that know nothing of true conservation. Hunters do more, know more, give more, care more about conservation than they ever will.
jami skiby-patience - There is a place for all Gods creatures, right next to the mashed taters and gravy :-P
shanie vincent - Maybe PETA should consider that hunters are killing humanely, eating and wasting less meat, and really appreciating the animals sacrifice. Stick to saving Mcdonalds cows, and leave hunters alone. And as for sometimes when animals attack, sometimes you get the bull and sometimes, the bull gets you. That's hunting. My parents would get a deer and we would eat the entire winter without having to buy from the grocery store. That one deer probably saved 100 cows, pigs, chickens, and other tasty animals. I am way more offended by grocery store packaged meat than i am about hunting. Put up your billboard so i can laugh at you. Go ahead. You are the same organization that just got called out for killing every animal you ever came in contact with. Never adopting out or finding one single home for any pet that was given to you. You took someones dog out of their hands, told them you would find the dog a home, took it in the back room, put it to sleep within 5 minutes because the owner no sooner got to her car when she realized she couldn't do it and went back and found her pet dead. You people suck.
travis nutt - PETA is a terrorist organization that needs to be shut down!
colleen price brooks - Elk is So delicious
joshua sepulveda - PETA; an organization best served back East and in L.A- not meat eating country. "Buy your meat at the market and leave the animals alone." Ummm... Problem there... Where do you think meat comes from??? Carrots?
alicia barstow kaney - So what does PETA suggest we do when animals overrun the Earth and every species dies of starvation when hunting is outlawed? Just like the wolves! Go live in the wilderness for a while and get back to us on how to solve it. Until then, leave my rights alone!!
tracy halter ford - Lol a waste of time here in utah. A oversized picture of a big bull is just gonna make us more excited for the hunt. Might work in other states but not in a hunting state. So let them waste their money put up their billboard and we will all just see it and think ya when does hunting season open.
sabrina cantafio wallace - I understand their stand on animal abuse. However hunting is completely different. My family owns an Outfitting business in Canada and I've been around the idea of hunting all my life. I don't see how hunting is any different then eating a steak from the grocery store. The end result is the same and if you are a responsible hunter the animal is discharged without pain....
chase tingey - if animals have the same rights as humans, can we hunt PETA members?
ashley rankin-ruth - I'm a vegan and against hunting/eating animals and all, but I don't stand by PETA and their nonsense. >.<
rachael lindsay - I am so done with PETA going after the wrong people! Why don't you go save all those animals that we see on TV getting abused!!
kaycee anne kilpack wyatt - Shazelle that comment doesn't make sense. People grow gardens, even though you cane get produce at a grocery store. Deer and elk are healthier then any meat you would get at the store. Most humans eat meat. What's the differences of buying already slaughtered meat, or hunting for meat? I'll tell you. Hunting your getting out, getting exercise, learning something useful, AND getting quality meat.
Yay for hunters!!!
joe costello - PETA = Please Euthanize The Activists!!!!!
betsy kruger - My food Poops on your food!!!!!
jacque boothroyd - Doesn't Peta realize how horrific things will get for the wildlife if we stop the hunts? They are there to thin out the herds, that is why only a certain amount of tags are issued. If the herd is not thinned, there won't be enough food, therefore they will be forced down where they run the risk of being killed by cars. They will fight each other to the death for more reasons than just food & some will just starve to death. The hunts are necessary & controlled so there isn't over kill. I would rather see the hunts than find dead carcasses on the roads & in the mountains for no reason.
ken pennell - PETA-People Eating Tasty Animals!
lori nelson pierce - If my family needs food it would take more than a sign to stop me from taking out a deer, elk, rabbit or any other food source!..better than begging the state for food stamps!...
amber hadley hadlock - The particular instance with the man from Lehi was an accident, not a vengeful act of the elk; it was already dead. This is in very poor taste. I believe animals should be treated humanely but to imply that another human being "got what he deserved" is ridiculous and cold hearted. I hope he recovers. There are a few hunters out there that give a bad name to the rest but they are the minority. Most hunters are responsible sportsmen who use the meat and respect the animals.

KSL 5 TV: A high school student is in trouble after he opened fire on his classmates -- with an app. Coming up on the Browser 5.0 we will take a look at the app "Real Strike" and why school officials reacted the way they did. Do you think virtual attacks should be taken seriously? We may share your comments on air at 12:30 on KSL.Comments:
aubrey wilcox - I'm confused...isn't that what most video games (like Halo or Black Ops) are all about?
saige marcotte - I feel a little dumber after reading this
janette leah ross - What happened to the olden days when kids could be kids and play Cowboys and Indians?
saige marcotte - Ya that's like saying stabbing food with my fork will lead to stabbing people later in life
lisa duran - Yes, I think they should take this app seriously because it desensitizes the shooter to seeing people they know get shot, and if it's by them that makes it even worse.
alissa ross - I shot my family and friends on a regular basis as a child. I still shoot them (with nerf and water guns). I suppose this app is a little more realistic looking and high tech... but its still only a mix between video game and nerf gun.
kari boothe - I'm sure he is like any other boy that loves guns and loves apps like that. However he just needs to be taught that in today's world it wasn't an appropriate place to show it off.
saige marcotte - Well I was just playing madden football and I just gave the other teams qb a concussion and took him out the game well I guess I better call the cops on my self feel bad for his virtual parents they must hate me sorry people I am going to throw my xbox in the garbage now
blaise glaze - I miss the old days when you could play Cowboys & Indians or cops and robbers.
rebecca may ruegger - The issue is being taken seriously simply because of the fact that there have been school shootings. The shootings were done by students that were thought to be quiet, shy kids that played video games. The video game in this case is just a little too realist to be take lightly when brought into the school. I don't think he should be charged with bringing a gun to school, but there needs to be some teaching that takes place not just to the student involved but to the school about appropriate game play at school. After all we send our children to school to learn not to play games on phones.
staci lindholm wray - Oh boy, Blew up my kids with this app. Should I expect child protective services to knock on my door. They had me attacked by robots. Are they in trouble?
But if there are threats related to the incident, then that's another story.
douglas vincent keaton - OUTLAW ALL VIOLENT GAMES MOVIES SHOWS MEDIA. OUTLAW COWBOYS N INDIANS AND PHASERS AND ARMY DOLLS AND SNOWBALL FIGHTS AND TACKLE FOOTBALL AND BOXING AND MARTIAL ARTS AND WRESTLING AND KICK BOXING AND BULLIES AND ANYTHING VIOLENT....get the point???
kimberly shepard - I can see why they got upset but aren't they just doing what they see in video games? Just like cops and robbers before video games. Only difference is technology has improved so it is more realistic.
mitch nelson - We need to make cell phones illegal. Why do we allow such rampant use of cellphones? If only the kid would have had a five day waiting period and a background check before being able to buy that phone and he should have had to register that gun app.
Think of all the fake drama and non news that this cellphone caused.
cheryl stubbs - They should treat it just like the kid took a gun to school. Do you see whats going on in DC right now.
kelly michael koonce - yes the reaction was right.... best to take that serious because a vertial attack is to see all the senarios to comment the real thing....
steven edwards - You know..when I was a kid we cops and robbers or army or cowboys and Indians..I understand this is a high school student but if he was just passing with a new app then it's just playing...
saige marcotte - I wish there was a app so could virtual shoot some of these comments
deborah vaughn robinson - Virtual attacks are not funny if that is what they were going for. It could also be considered a practice for the real thing. In any case the person needs help of some sort. At least in socially acceptable actions. This kind of thing can cause harm even though there were no real bullets.
thomas lasater - I know it's just a game, but some people need realize where we are at this day and age. I think kids these days are lazy and UN-disciplined. These kids need more exercise, read more books, learn how to earn their way through life and that the World doesn't owe them a living
saige marcotte - Ya Cheryl Stubbs ruin the kids life with a felony for virtual shooting this might be the stupidest comment I have ever seen

Monday's challenge: Take the commitment to buckle up here: http://ulink.tv/306 and then come back and comment on this post about why you wear your seatbelt!Comments:
jill topik olson - Because my husband and I were involved in a tragic car accident in provocanyon I 2011 a guy hit is head on going 60 and would not be here if it wasn't for our seat belts and we were only ten minutes from home! Always always wear your seat belt:)
carli straub - I don't wanna fall out!
janett ackerman call - Isn't every week "buckle up week"?
jeff troxell - Why not? I do it out of habit and it is only safe to buckle up even if it is not the 'cool' thing to do.
mandi heaps young - So I can raise my children and be around to see them become successful adults and parents.
brittany zabriskie - I want to set a good example for my son and if there is an accident I'm more likely to walk away alive from it
bonnie atwood oldham - We all buckle before we leave our driveway... Because we all want to come home!!
jill holley smith - I'm a nurse. I've seen, too often, what happens when you're not wearing your seatbelt. If you decide not to buckle up, please fill out an organ donation card.
amiee umphenour durham - To be an example to my kids!
stephanie tiara gunderson - So I can take care of my son and be a good example
ashley hickmon - Because I've been in a head-on collision. My seatbelt saved my life.
bill marsh - it should ALWAYS be buckle-up week...
ethan moore - I feel out of control without it. Just feels natural to wear it.
tennille mccleve-mendez - It's second nature to buckle up. My kids also know you put your seatbelt on when you're in the car. My brothers are cops, I've heard too many horror stories of accidents and people not wearing them.
rebecca jensen harris - It makes me feel secure and I want to be around for my family (grandkids) and all those important people in my life.
brandy riding herring-pogue - If Im buckled then my kids remember to do so. What's more important if your in a crash; nothing !
jamie sanders - My family matters!
pamela beyer massey - I wear my seatbelt because I know from firsthand experience they save lives.
elaina meadows - I was taught to buckle up because seat belts save life's...period. It's at the point it feels strange not to be :)
sarisha martin - My step dad is in the UHP and it was always a rule in our house. 4 months ago we were involved in the huge accident on 54th and Redwood where we were rear ended by a drunk driver. I was pregnant at the time and if I hadn't been wearing my seat belt I could've hurt the baby. Because I did wear it, she and I both turned out ok. Now I will forever wear my seat belt!
terri lupton - My husband was taught wayyy back in 1981 at basic training to 'buckle up' and called me and told me that I should wear my seat belt too and we both have ever since. It was a hard sell and felt weird at first but he (and the Air Force) was right.

kaitlyn taylor - Honda civic, or Toyota corolla

becky ames - @ Joseph Kelley You do realize this was posted before the shootings, right? I also care. My son works back there, but give them a break.
cathy neff - Toyota Corolla. 80% of all Corollas made in the past 20 years are still on the road.
chase tingey - Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Nissan Maxima
kira bonney - Don't have a vehicle in my driveway under 200,000. 95 Chevy s10 215,000, 03 Ford f350 206,000, 94 Nissian pathfinder 232,000, 02 Ford f350 271,000. And every one of them runs perfectly.

daren hilton - Honda civic by far
zakk emett - Not a fan but toyota
alex van zomeren - Toyota, Honda, subaru
daniel johnson - Almost any subaru.
drew anthony young - Subaru, Honda. Best cars out there! Toyota, over , recalled every six months, piece of junk. Toyota stands for, The One You Ought To Avoid.

KSL 5 TV: SCAM ALERT: If you are in the market for a new car, be wary if someone offers you an extended test drive. AAA Credit Foundation reports they are finding people who were allowed to drive away from the dealership before the financing was finished. Then they find out they actually signed a loan document. It's called yo-yo financing.Comments:
sarah leishman - Yup.. any then when your financing doesn't work out to your liking you give it back and they lied on the odometer statement by 3,000 miles (which you don't realize until you signed the statement and drive off) ... and then they charge you for those miles you didn't drive.. *ahem* Ken Garff * .. thank goodness I was smart enough to find my own financing and DIDN'T take the car back but good hell Ken Garff has some shady people and ways of doing business for a business as big as they are.
sara anne jaynes - Larry h miller car dealerships are famous for this Stear clear!!!!!
andrea jessop allred - Larry H Miller Chrysler/Dodge in Bountiful
clayton larson - Sounds like there are no dealerships we can trust, it really makes buying a car a drag.
sara anne jaynes - I'm sorry ken garff automotive but thanking Sarah Leishman for her feedback is not going to fix her issue contact her directly and fix it then you'd be doing something
judy nielson - Almost this same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I bought a used car from Larry H Miller and was told everything was fine. No down and the loan was ok'd. Then I got a call on Monday and was told I needed to come in and sign more paperwork. When I got there the loan was for more than they told me in the first place and I had to come up with $300.00 for a down payment. When I called the manager and complained and told him I wanted to just return the car I was threatened with a lawsuit. I had to keep the care and pay the higher payments because I did feel I had a recourse. Never again will I buy from Larry H Miller. They are Crooks.
melinda grant - Ken Garff Nissan in Orem is a no go!
marci olson berry - Larry H Miller in Riverdale as well!
janelle maxwell west - Car buying is the worst, no matter what!! Boo!!
jas croxford - I'm just seeing cause I know the owner of vivant and a lot of things you are saying doesn't make sense. Why are you So defensive about Ken garff? Doesn't make sense Why you would go out of your way on this post?
jas croxford - Not when they break a legal contract. Read people, it's pathetic with what hg and good luck
sara anne jaynes - So I did message ken garff Hyundai and no response I guess they don't care like they say they do
gail fletcher tanner - Yo yo financing is illegal. Says so in the KSL story.
miguel del rio - Don't buy a used car in the dealership and never ever finance with ford motor credit, it's better make private purchase ( pay cash ) you save 1000's of dollars
sara anne jaynes - Ken Garff Hyundai I just contacted you on your Facebook page because I hope no other customer has to go through what I went through
jas croxford - Ken Garff must really be horrible because ive heard from friends and family that they ripped them off. Horrible company
jeremy harding - Eddie Prignano In the 4 brutal years that I was a finance manager I called back maybe 5 people to let them know I could not get the rate I expected. We always let them decide if they wanted to keep or return the car. I did however call back at least 200 getting them better rates.
sara anne jaynes - Jen garff sold me a flooded car I has no idea until summer when it was hot and that mold smell OMG I took it to have everything replaced and marked the fabrics so that I would know it was replaced guess what they didn't do it they should have given me a new car as I have asthma and mold effects my health I finally had to just buy a new car and be upside down on a loan this was ken garff Hyundai downtown and because of that experience I will never go thru ken garff either that car should have never been sold to anyone.
joshua lucero - Don't get mad at a company because one or two bad people. I have worked in the car business for over 11 years. Most of us have high standard and treat people honestly.
chris larson - Larry h miller used cars in sandy did this to me.
jared rice - I've never signed anything Just given them Id to copy..so if your signing anything that should be a sign somethings up

KSL 5 TV: WIN either 3 or 6 Months of Food Storage from KSL Deals! To enter, tell us: what do YOU think is the most important item to have in your preparedness kit? Then, fill-out this form: http://ulink.tv/159. Good luck!Comments:
robert freedom andrews - A disaster doesn't have to be a flood or a fire it can be the loss of a job or an illness that takes most of your financial means to take care of. Having a couple months worth of food can relieve that worry. Sure there are government programs for food but for me, that is a last resort. I prefer to take care of myself and my family.
ashley echols cope - Paula there could be lots of devastation in Utah or anywhere you live! Here there can be major earthquakes, flooding, fires...just to name a few! It's always best to prepare for the worst! I don't want to ever see my children go hungry :)
robb anderson - People dont think! So you spend all this money on food storage the the big one hits or your house floods or on fire. Now you cant get to your food storage.
joseph hernandez - Anyone can store water...and then die when it runs out. The best thing to pack is knowledge and experience.
sadie ann carrillo - Food storages are used for times such as medical emergencies when your family needs to use its income to pay medical bills, or if you lose your job/income completely or are just having financial hardships. If you have a food storage, your family has food to eat until everything resolves
sabrina ann riccardi - I do not get the point of food storage........
tara advani mitchell - Water and chocolate.
paula young halcom - Ok, at risking looking like a fool, or stupid, or whatever, why are you storing all this food? Im new to Utah, and have never lived in an area where weather might cause an issue, so is that why your stocking up? What am I missing here?
sarra nielson - I wish there was a way to store milk! My family gets so grumpy without it!
lorina danielle potter - Filtering water bottles with a ton of filters!
isabel vazquez - Water is the most important!! Next is food then shelter <3
elena asiata dickson - Water first aid kit
peggy grossnickle - The first thing would be water
gino lopez - Water and non perishable food.
rachel allsop - Extra medications!
john peirce - A gun. Which would be cheaper if you had the gun classifieds back.
nikki j nelson - Water cleanser/ filter.
shellie ashby - Water/filters and toilet paper! ;)
cassandra buttars crookston - I'd go with the water filter
bill malone - Water and fire are the two most important items
teresa knaphus cloutier - Water and different water purifying systems to keep making drinkable water.

KSL 5 TV: Tonight on Dateline NBC, Rebecca Musser, who left the FLDS church and testified against Warren Jeffs, tells her story. The 2-hour show starts at 8 p.m.Comments:
shelley whitaker cleveland - Matt..I just said I wondered how long it would take some bone head to make a lame LDS comment...and you are the winner!
megan santos - Mary that is a misconception. Brigham young or any other prophet never taught blood sacrifice. It was taught by a misled group who were corrected when the teaching was found out. It was never a teaching of the LDS church.
cathy spencer - No Mary Bilderback, the FLDS is not the original LDS Church.
rachel ornelas - I am LDS and I am dang happy that I am. The church is true
ashlee virchow peterson - Stole the words right out of my mouth, Shelley!
jill tennant brown - This group uses the name of God as an excuse to violate children.
megan santos - I am a Mormon and I have studied our history in depth as well as other faiths and the history of this world and this country. Little tip, in the 1800s and even early 1900s 18 years old was not adulthood. Many many women married as young as 14, 15, or 16. It was the norm. And their husbands were frequently much older than them. The culture and perspective was different back then. Also the idea that Joseph Smith married already married women was a lie started by those opposed to the church. Both his and Brigham young's wives were often widows or spinsters who needed help and care for them and their families. And fyi Mary, no reflected historian or professor ever accepts Wikipedia as a reliable and scholarly source of information. They will usually laugh or dock points if it's you're main source.
jon whitlock - Lol, Mary get a life.
chris knowles - You know the more I learn about Brigham Young the more he sounds like Warren Jeffs. The FLDS is some crazy twisted religion.
robb anderson - So funny that on Utah would have this as a story! Even know You warship brigham young who was the Warren Jeffs back in the days. With his 28 UNDER AGE wifes and you act likes he's a god. lol WOW
wendy spencer pickett hall - Oh Rebecca, you were so lied to. The God of the Bible is nothing like the god the FLDS or even LDS follow. Look up Sheild and Refuge Ministries and Sandra Tanners UTLM and meet the Jesus who died for you!
sharon k. spence - My question is this: the government knows of this community and its abuse for 'years and years'. they even receive 'fraudulent' state aid/welfare etc.. and everyone looks the other way.. how does this happen? Please explain..
john montgomery - Good for her. Bring them down and expose all their secrets and shut them down forever! So tired of this group standing behind their beliefs to have multiple wives and sexually abuse little girls. If one man can have several wives then women should be able to have multiple husbands... fair is fair!
tvae lybbert fronce - Christi, there are plenty of LDS members outside of Utah! I'm from Alberta, Canada and then moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. The LDS Church is close to everywhere! I've had my share of talking to anti-Mormons and that has only helped me strengthen my testimony and my personal beliefs. I completely understand if you have your own set of beliefs that you want to stick with, all I'm saying is don't knock it til you try it. If you're not willing to straighten out what you've heard by speaking to someone who knows what they are talking about, then don't continue the cycle of spewing anything you don't have real evidence of being true. How does the book of Abraham falsify Joseph Smith? And what are the names of these books you speak of?
tvae lybbert fronce - Christi Haley Nowicki, then where will you find it? You won't find any of those teachings in our church meetings. You won't find anything but the truth documents in our historical record keeping. There was no blood sacrifices. I had never heard of that and it's certainly ridiculous. I have read journals from great, great, great, great grandparents and if you believe something is true, why hide it? There was definitely none of that. Take polygamy for example, no Church member will say it didn't happen, they'll just tell you it's no longer practiced. I'm not bothered by what you have said but I have done plenty of research and the only people and places you'll hear things like that from is by those who for some reason feel so strongly against this church they must make up lies like we eat babies in our temples, just outright crazy and appalling to try and bring the church down.
If you have questions, ask the missionaries! They will answer anything and have the correct answers for you as well. They by no means know everything, but they can usually get in contact with someone else to answer anything they don't know off the bat.
sharelle silveira - @Mary ...,do you realize that Wikipedia is changeable! It's not necessarily fact when you get it from there. If you claim you are an expert you can change things on there.
christi haley nowicki - Yep. It's pretty easy to find the info but the church tries to keep it on the DL for some reason. JS - at least 28 wives, many of whom were 14 and many of whom were already married to other men. The history is there for those who care to know. Many choose to remain ignorant.
krystal rose root andrew - *Its that they condoned child abuse and rape.
cheryl hawkes skelton - I watched and found it fascinating.
kevan beynon - The church was created on the foundation of polygamy. Joseph was a power hungry horny man. Just like warren.
sherry burbidge - IT'S CALL RAPE !!!! Girls under the age of 18 and Made to be with a 85 year old man would you let that happen to your daughter ??????

KSL 5 TV: A prank, or an assault? A pair of Utah You Tube stars are facing criticism for videos where they kiss or pick up complete strangers. Coming up on the Browser 5.0 at 12:30 we will look at why some are concerned about the pair's actions. How would you react if they approached you? We may share your comment on air.Comments:
tboo hunter - They are going to kiss the wrong girl and get clocked by a very pissed off dad, husband, or boyfriend..ha!
zane white - Assault, promoting rape culture, inappropriate...shall I continue?
malynda horrocks phelps - Grow up! Assault? Really? If u leaned in for the kiss u were a willing participant! I'm so sick of the littlest things turning into assault, or sexual harassment.
row f ward - Want real issues people? Pay attention to Syria. College kids are young, crazy, stupid at times, still growing up & are having the time of their lives. Looks like a typical day on a college campus with kids Play jokes on Others. I remember those days on campus :) LAUGH! It's good for your heart.
michelle wade dodenbier - I thought this was hilarious, especially when they kissed the guys, I couldn't stop laughing!
If you find this video offensive, you need to chill and stop stop taking Everything in life so seriously
emily eysser putnam - I think it's hilarious.. They gave people enough time to turn away obviously. Just having fun in college :)
ryan castro - Well, it must be a prank, because it certainly isn't assault:
(1) Assault is:
(a) an attempt, with unlawful force or violence, to do bodily injury to another;
(b) a threat, accompanied by a show of immediate force or violence, to do bodily injury to another; or
(c) an act, committed with unlawful force or violence, that causes bodily injury to another or creates a substantial risk of bodily injury to another.
You could try to argue it was Forcible Sexual Abuse: " or otherwise takes indecent liberties with another, or causes another to take indecent liberties with the actor or another," BUT, it also says: "with intent to cause substantial emotional or bodily pain to any person or with the intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person, " - You would have a hard time convincing a jury that the guy in the video is attempting to cause substantial emotional or bodily pain, or that he's simply trying to gratify himself in a sexual way.
brandon eddy - Kiss on the mouth... Too far. Kiss on the cheek is no big deal in my opinion.
kandice lynn howard - This is pretty cool, watch his other videos. He is doing nothing wrong he might get punched. Other countries kiss at meeting all the time. Lighten up people... If they kissed me I think me and my husband would probably just laugh
terri lupton - I have a large 'personal space' and will fight to protect it. Kissing to 'bring the world together'? I don't think so. A handshake....maybe.
elaine barnes - It's all fun and games until they pick someone who has been a victim of rape or some other assault. See how dangerous this could be? But THEY don't care because they are having FUN...
branden stentzel - Why can't people accept the fact that an action isn't always meant to harm someone, perhaps its all for innocent fun. Think about it.
cyndy pearl owens - No absolutely not... I dont care how friendly he is or how popular or anything like that... if he did that to me or my daughter. He would be punched in the face... He does not have permission to hug, kiss or touch anyone. He is invading personal boundaries.
aimee gna vargas - I actually know Stuart REALLY well. I was talking to him ABOUT this video before he filmed it and everyone at UVU already knows him anyway.. I admire him for what he does. (:
wyatt mccullough - Only in utah would people cry about this.. grow some hair on your chin, and have a sense of humor. They are part of a very successful YouTube pranking group. They are funny and let the people know it was a prank, if they don't like it, they say they don't wanna be in the video.. now who wants to talk about some real issues? Bunch of cocooned brain washed mormons I swear..
morgan mikel - As a female student there, I am not okay with that... at all.
ryan york - This is almost too awkward to watch.
dan landers - slow news day huh? This is the story you are running with?
heather rowley milner - Ewww. I felt uncomfortable just WATCHING! Its amazing to me that anyone could ignore such obvious "back off" body language & still move in for those kisses without feeling like a complete creep. A kiss isn't rape, but in this case, its still a major invasion of personal space. Even in cultures where a kiss is an acceptable form of greeting, you don't do it to complete strangers on the street! The fact that these guys think this is "funny" just makes me shudder at their complete lack of respect for others.
julia nielson - "Just having a little fun" and "people need to relax" are coming up several times. I want to know, where do we draw the line? Picking a girl up is "okay", but is putting hands around her waist? How about on her neck? Kissing her on the lips is "just in fun," but what about groping her? touching her breast or elsewhere? What about sexual acts (even non-coital) ? See, when we okay one thing as "boys having fun," aren't we opening the door for more? The line needs to be drawn somewhere. Where is that line?
lauren evans arrington - I had a guy very aggressively try to kiss me once, as a joke, and I still feel sick when I think of it. It was such a horrible invasion, and made me feel so powerless. These guys really need to think about the psychological effect they could be having on these girls, even if it is "just for fun".
