KSL 5 TV: Our story is about to reveal the back story behind some of Salt Lake's panhandlers. You don't want to miss this part!Comments:
adrian kaze jonsson - I give, always will, it's not my place to judge them or decide if they really need the help or they are scammers. Their true intentions are between them and God. When I don't help or give I feel horrible. I'm shocked at most of these comments.
jenni moriarty - I work really hard for the money I make and sometimes barely scrape by. I know there may be a very few honest homeless people out there, but the majority of them look like they could get a job and help themselves. There are some great programs here in a Salt Lake that you could give your money to that have great reputations. It's very uncomfortable for me to have to drive up to someone on the street corner. I'd rather not see it, there is so many other useful things they could be doing. I wish I didn't care about what they did with the money given to them. If I give someone my hard earned money I want to know it's not going towards their bad habits or nice houses.
debbie kae brantner - I have seen other reports like this and once gave food to a man who said hungry out of money and he was very upset it was not money, it is the last time that I have done that and will not give money as I am not sure how it will be used.
diana fielden johnston - Excellent story. Utah should make this illegal. It is so uncomfortable to be sitting at the light with them staring at you. It's a safety issue for all of us. Give to the programs not these people that only leave their trash on our underpasses.
christina marie brenchley partridge - Thank you for this story! Not because you "outed" the bad seeds, but for giving solutions to the problem of how to give properly! I look forward to having KSL on all day and hearing about the worthy causes out there in our communities!
vee elvira - I am so glad you guys did this!!!! This has gotten out of control theyre everywhere - stopped giving money and when I saw a "grateful man" throw away the food I bought him #turds
gail wickers - We have places where I live that have frequent panhandlers there. I give food or snack and a passalong card of Jesus Christ. And now that it's cold I'm handing out hand warmers with a pic.
I feel if we pass them by, because of judging or wondering... It will be on our heads if they are needy. If we help and they are bums... It's on their head.
Also as I approach I have a prayer in my heart to help me know what's true..
nate shoell - Need to out law this in Utah
gail fletcher tanner - I always felt bad for people who panhandled until I realized that there are programs for those who are homeless to help them out. I also know that there are people who deliberately dress shabby and panhandle and make a lot of money every day doing it and then go back to their nice car and drive back to their comfortable home. I never feel bad about buying someone a good meal and giving it to them, but I will only give money to charitable organizations now.
viktor paul - This is a great report! Moving forward I will NOT give them money.
belva whitbeck parr - I am not surprised at your report. I like to give to organizations that help.
chelsie searle - My favorite was a very skinny woman who spent months in front of the walmart near my house and her sign read homeless and pregnant. She never once thought to pull his off for so long she should probably stuff her shirt gradually. Seriously ballerina sized woman prego for at least 6 months and not showing ever. Plus there were always 2-3 guys at the other entrances or next to her. I never give money but have given food or drinks as I pass. After seeing the video of some throwing the food I may also stop this.
lex scott - Jesus told us to help the poor. We can question people's motives or we can give. Even if you believe they don't need it, even if you question what they might spend it on. I promise that your karma will be better by simply handing another human being a dollar bill.
sally eves whittaker - I've seen so many at the stores at Jordan landing ( mainly Walmart) but it's so shifty, they almost seem as though they have a job, shift times and some kind if "manager" or something. Thank you for sharing this story! I thought you guys would mention the possible new law that I heard about giving money to them.
john adderley - I wish it were easier but story's like this make us stop helping in anyway we second guess ourselves who really dissevers our help ?
charles uibel - I gave a young woman some money, then she told me about her kids so I gave her more money. Then she told me about more kids so I gave her more money. Boy was she good.
gina bates - it is sad that people feign illness or hard times to get handouts from others. My brother is actually schizophrenic and he is out there somewhere probably begging and I hope people are kind to him. You will never be punished for giving.
dennis andersen - Believe it or not but some of these panhandlers or poor people that you are giving money to make 70 to 100 thousand dollars a year panhandling. Also tax free.
nate shoell - Keyword All of them! their are places for people to go if they need help
stephanie saffell-wilkinson - I am not surprised at all however not all people in these situations are like the ones ksl put in the newscast. Utah does not have near enough homeless shelters nor the programs to get people on their feet that other states have. If your ever homeless hitch hike right out of Utah.
jazmin gonzalez - I never give money. I pay tithing and let the church decide.
- Our KSL Investigation into the "Business of Begging" on Utah streets is on right now - tune in (Type: status | Published: 2013-11-26T05:09:39+0000)
KSL 5 TV: Our KSL Investigation into the "Business of Begging" on Utah streets is on right now - tune in now! You won't believe what we found out about the people you're graciously giving your extra cash to on the side of the road.Comments:
sharon moore - I buy 2 bananas every morning at 7-11. I eat one and I hand one to the guy on the 13th S off ramp. He is always grateful and very kind. I'm happy to share my breakfast and 50 cents a day wont kill me.
sarah connors petersen - Rather than supporting panhandling, please consider donating to http://www.theroadhome.org.
They are our local shelter in SLC. A local organization that helps the homeless to find shelter, healthcare, and employment. Such a great organization!!! I have seen lives changed through them.
gen-lia mamea - I dnt really care what they use the money on.. im a giving person nd I hate it when I saw a bum on the road and I dnt have anything to give.. my husband gets mad at me cause I give them more than 20.. were not here to judge.. if u dnt wanna give thats ur choice.. but God sees us through our hearts.. happy thanksgiving!!!
liz judd - Also, for people commenting rudely that these people need to get a job you need a reality check. Some people on the street have serious mental problems and quite a few fought for this country in war time. Show a little respect and remember that this is a season of giving.
liz judd - I saw a Dateline story years ago about rich people panhandling and making a ridiculous amount of money just for dressing the part. Nowadays I don't give to panhandlers but if I had the money to make care packages with toothpaste, toothbrush, healthy snacks, band-aids, feminine products, etc. I would love to pass those out. The homeless also need blankets so if you really want to help put some blankets you are willing to donate in your car!
monet monfort lion - Watching...my heart goes out to all of them, whether they really are in need or are so disheartened and bitter that they are taking advantage of those who want to help. I gave a young looking couple a $10 gift card from Walmart today in St. George. And, of course, there is no way I will ever know how they used (or didn't use) that gift.
kathy ball - post a link to it so we can watch later!
anita mccomb - If you donate to shelters those who need help get it,food, beds, medical, not drug money.
becky conachan pratt - Utah is slow at catching on to this. This has been going on for years. When I see a homless person in need and say hungry, no food. I will get them a meal at mc Donald, I refuse to give money.
charles uibel - These people need help. HELP THEM! Take your John Swallow investigation money and Help Them.
betty bird - Post the story for those of. us that can not get KSL pleas
terilyn summerhays nettleton - I don't normally give to those just begging but a few months ago we were impressed to help a man who didn't want just a hand out, he wanted to work for the cash we were trying to give him. He was washing car windows. He was dressed nicely and seemed genuinely greatful for the little we had to give. Most of those that I see however truly give me the hee be jeebes. I will continue to give to my local church instead
tama child - I saw a guy panhandling in riverdale saying homeless, no money or shelter. Go get into a new bmw with paper plates, change his clothes into nice ones and wipe the smudge off his face. Kinda irritated me!
jamie sanfelippo mansfield - If people would stop giving these losers money and donate their money to a worthy cause that will help the homeless like The Road Home maybe they would stop begging.
garrett w. kramer - That's why I donate to shelters etc... There's other ways to help those in need!
iliana alfaro - I know mentally disable people that wake up early everyday to go to work... why can't these lazy people do the same? I'm so happy that KSL reported this!
diandra edith smiley - Not all people are the same. I truly believe that there are a select few who really do need some help financially. Not everyone is as fortunate as others.
I'd rather watch a "story" about the Business of Giving!!
gino lopez - it pisses you off i have seen so much BS over the past 5 yrs i kind of wish the cops would take care of the fakes.
martin calderwood - I drive a lot as part of my job and I see the 'rotation' of the off ramp beggers.. it is kind of interesting.
chyleen prestwich jacklin - If they are hurt, doesn't disability kick in?
thomas tarrington - Really? You actually had to investigate in order to find out whether or not panhandlers are honest? Heck, I could have saved you a lot of time KSL. What a silly "news" story.
- When a cop pulls you over, you have no choice but to hand them your personal information. What (Type: status | Published: 2013-11-26T03:00:00+0000)
KSL 5 TV: When a cop pulls you over, you have no choice but to hand them your personal information. What would you do if you found out they gave those details to somebody else? It's happening in one Utah city -- and tonight at 10 on KSL -- police are telling us what went wrong and how they’re going to fix it.Comments:
sheri anderson - That cop should be IMMEDIATELY terminated and charged with identity theft!!
steve huggins - Yeah I vote we get rid of all Police Officers and let society figure it out. That's sarcasm, only criminals don't trust the Police. There are more dirty politicians than Police Officers. So let's get rid of both. Ignorant people. I'll just assume Gino Lopez is a law abiding citizen. I'm so sick of these comments every time a cop is brought into the spot light. Maybe if the media glamorized every good thing a Police Officer does instead of only the bad things that make the camera. Maybe citizens of this country, not POS career criminals that comment on this thread, would have a different opinion of Police Officers.
justin roylance - Who polices the police?
megan johnsen cope - Thanks to everyone who is not bashing on Cops. My husband risks his life everyday. He was even hit by a car while trying to attend to citizen in distress during the ice storm last year. Thank you Renae, John Knecht, Mark, Donna, Natacha, Steve, Doug. It only takes one bad person or one bad decision to change the publics opinion.
susan conner - just another reason to drive like a civilized human being.
renae fillmore - Thank you Police Officer's, Firefighter's, Emergancy Personnel for all that you do for everyone on a daily basis & being human! May you have a peiceful & quite Thanksgiving.
doug wagstaff - Lets hear the story before we crucify someone.
The media is in business to sell stories. This could be an inflammatory post in an attempt to boost views. If that is the motivation and a fact it is working.
julio camacho - Sue the city and then demand that the officer be terminated!
cory green - Probably was in West Valley or West Bountiful, they are the two least reputable Departments... lol
natacha ruth musser - Many people don't trust police but who do they call in case of emergency?
gino lopez - just another reason not to trust them.
chalise vandermyde - God bless and THANK YOU to those of you defending our officers/fire/medical personnel. There is so much more involved to be an officer than people realize. Thank you officers for putting YOUR lives on the line to keep the rest of us safe. I appreciate what you do, and I also realize you're human. Thank you, thank you.
patrick nevarez - Protect and serve, whatever ! Corruption Corruption Corruption! ! Just like the UHP office who made DUI arrest. Just like most of our politicians, it's Just hard to trust them
tim buckner - He needs to be fired sooner than later. But try having your DL# put on the next guys ticket try and fix that nigh mare I do not trust the court or our police.
kim knowlden laird - What is sad is the fact that we have always believed the police where the good guys and the ones you could trust. Seems to not be the case anymore
dominique storni - And cops keep questioning why we don't trust them? *Facepalm*
evelyn williamson veylupek - When a cop pulls you over...you DO have a choice about handing over your ID (Ref: Eddie Craig)
janette leah ross - So what happens if we refuse based on what we just learned???
krista nfse york - stupid retard i would sue their rears all to hell
albert rojero - I would be totally vexed (^^^)
scott gray - cops are civilians with badges, some uphold their oaths and some do not, im not a criminal and i dont trust cops and im sure as hell not going to call one for ant emergency.

jessica wilson heck - I could really use the money, but I am sure a lot of people need it more than me. Good luck everyone.
kristen soderberg peko - I love ksl but these contests sure are frustrating. I am not up at 4:30 (who in their right mind is) and drive home at 5. :(
dallas konecny - Evidently you have to do nothing but watch without blinking for an hour straight to see the winner. Their contests must take place in fantasyland....no making dinner, no homework with the kids, no real life stuff. Well if it was fantasyland us hardworking families wouldn't need to win money!

crystal valentine garner - The Bat Kid! Inspired a nation. :)
bonnie kalm - The U.S. VETERAN! Hands down!
jay desart - Definitely not a politician of any sort this year. Pope Francis is my odds on favorite.
andie tasker young - Our service men and women they are true heros and dont get the respect they deserve. They put their lives on the line for all of us. You dont see the politicians out on enemy lines, spending time away from their loved ones, standing up for the safety and freedom of our country.
matthew luke webster - They should pick Ted Cruz, because he's doing what no on else will. Taking on DC without fear of repercussions from people like Hatch
clarisse lopes offen - The Pope, hands down.
justin bench bergon - Mickey Mouse...he seems to be the ONLY one that can still put a smile on EVERYONE'S face!
nancy schleiger - Men and women in the armed forces
bernadette gireaud-hamer - The American People for enduring this joke of a government.
jaclyn hardy weist - The military as a whole.
brett coffin - I agree with others here, the Pope.
matt caldwell - How about the people that stood up against our government and spoke out about the illegal spying they do on their own people
vincent wolski - Mitt Romney for the true believers
trenell hickman west - not obama or his wife that's for sure.
marie hernandez barnett - Please NOT Oprah!!!!!!!!!!
kari boothe - Certainly NOT THE OBAMA'S!!!!!! Mitt Romney is a good choice? He's done a lot
alex velluto - Malala Yousafsai. She got robbed for the Nobel Prize. Person of the year might be cool.
danielle nelson - NO POLITICIANS!!! Not a single one!!! No one is doing there job in Washington D.C. :(
faith west - Duck dynasty family
tommy maras - I hope it's not a politician or anyone living in Washington DC. Chances are it will be someone undeserving…as usual.
justin ehrhardt - Can't be Jesus Christ... They need real people.
- Will you be shopping on Thanksgiving/Black Friday?
Yes! I love the deals. http://wedgi.es/I (Type: photo | Published: 2013-11-25T17:00:01+0000)
KSL 5 TV: Will you be shopping on Thanksgiving/Black Friday?
Yes! I love the deals. http://wedgi.es/IcYMwo
No! I'll wait. http://wedgi.es/1c4R179Comments:
christopher peck - Anyone who shops on Thanksgiving is absolutely evil and un-American. Yes, I went that far. Don't make the retail employees work. If no one showed up to shop, retailers will not open on this day in the future. Let the employees spend the day as it is intended, with families!!!!
melissa steel - I get to work it. Want to witness the peak of human insensitivity and greed? Work retail over the holidays.
lyndsay larsen osburn - No way! I worked retail for too many years, and I know the best deals are the week before and the week after Thanksgiving.
jesus a gomez - No way!! Thanksgiving is for spending time with your family its not to be shopping!!
darci weaver - Absolutely not....it's become another embarrassing "American" tradition. Stay home. Shop at your local small businesses on Saturday. That's who deserves the support.....the big stores need a wake up call that there are other people out there who work hard, sell quality items (made in America) and really CARE about their customers and not just being a slave to the $$$. Support your small local shops on Small Business Saturday!!!! (and no, I'm not a small business owner....I'm a teacher....who appreciates the small things in life....)
heidi lewis - No. Never. Being a cashier at walmart and a waitress showed me the pure evil and greed of black friday.
carol nudell - No, and I'm boycotting every business that made their employees work on Thanksgiving.
justin bench bergon - Nope! NO "Material thing" could pull me away from my family ... No matter the "bargain"
mandi lew - Nope!! Dumbest thing ever!!
lucinda dunn wade - I love black friday, but will NOT go on Thanksgiving!
robyn condie - Actually I will BOYCOTT this entire Holiday season any store open on Thanksgiving. Sears. JCPenny. This means you.
.....Friday morning though? Yes!! Hot chocolate and a.m. deals with family can be lots of fun. :-) it's become something of a tradition.
bill beveridge - They are all greedy idiots. They wait in lines for hours and when they get in, they'll buy a bunch of "crap" made in China, that will be broken and worthless the day after Christmas and end up in our landfills.
sandreen gillihan - thanksgiving should be about family not about stepping on people to save a few bucks !...shame shame shame!
shauntelle maddock stephenson - Against Thanksgiving shopping!
amber barker eliason - Neither- we're already done.
holly arndt - I will not be shopping on Thanksgiving!! I think it is ridiculous that stores are open at all on US Holidays!! We are taking the spirit and meaning out of holidays!! Spend time with family not shopping!! You have plenty of other days of the year to do it!!
amy middleton-hartman - I say NO AND ANY FOOL OUT THERE IN THIS SALES DONT CARE THAT THESE RETAIL STORES TOOK THANKSGIVING AWAY FROM THERD EMPLYOEES SO BOYCOTT ALL RETAILERS OPEN ON THANKSGIVING AND IF WE ALL DO THIS IT WILL MAKE THE RETAIL MOVE IT BACK TO BLACK FRIDAY NOT BLACK THANKSGIVING!!
nikki jo hatch - We will shop on Friday only!!!
kira anne - NOT on Thanksgiving Day! Come on people! People get upset when grocery stores decorate for holidays "too early", but they are ok with shopping on Thanksgiving?? Hypocrites!!
cheryl stubbs - Nope!!!!! I'm enjoying my Thanksgiving Holiday, with Family... NO SHOPPING !!!!! til DEC for Christmas here. People that Shop on Black Friday have NO clue what the meaning of Christmas is all about.... They have Lost it.....
christina velez - NO! That is why the internet was invented, so I do not have to get in a fist fight over an item to same 10 bucks! This ridiculous black friday should be stopped! Just give everyone a 10% off coupon when they go shopping fron December 1-23. ALSO what a materialistic way to celebrate such a HUMBLE Holiday where we are to refelect on Life and Love not the latest fashion or gadgets!

- 2 people were taken to the hospital in serious condition after a Trax train collided with a tru (Type: photo | Published: 2013-11-24T04:48:35+0000)
KSL 5 TV: 2 people were taken to the hospital in serious condition after a Trax train collided with a truck. More details tonight on KSL 5 TV at 10PM.Comments:
robert kaufman - I hate it when KSL says "a train collided with a truck". The truck collided with the train. Unless the crossbuck signal failed which I doubt.
lorie skeem - Why oh why do these people not look both ways?
laura mason - I think people that get hit by a train and are lucky enough to survive should be subject to a mental health evaluation and their license revoked for 5 years. Something to weed out the ignorant drivers one by one.
ben jensen - This just in: Trains can't swerve. Tune in at 10 for more breaking news: the sky is blue.
kathryn wilkinson mckenzie - I hate driving near Trax. For infrequent visitors to SL it can be very confusing. What signal do I follow, can I turn or not, where is the train coming from? I purposely plan my route to avoid having to deal with the trains. That being said, there are way too many accidents involving trains, and I have not heard once the engineer to be at fault. Be alert people!
britney reeves hedin - Prayers for those injured. My husband and I were almost in this situation once. We were in a '94 Honda Civic and were at a red light for several minutes with no cars around. We thought maybe the signal was broken so my husband started turning left and then BOOM there was a Trax train! We did collide but just sides and we walked away as did those riding. It was an error on our part, but we really had no idea it was coming until it was too late and we shouldn't have second guessed the signal. I guess my point is, stop judging people for making mistakes because we ALL have and let's all just learn a lesson and hope everyone is ok.
lorie skeem - @ Michael Wiggin it's not the trains! It is the drivers! Please don't blame it on the non-thinking thing! DUH!
megan whearley - this is unfortunate and i hope everyone is ok, but let this be a lesson.... watch traffic signals!!! they are there to help
bonnie shuman - You can never pay too much attention when driving. Pedestrians need to pay more attention too!
travis pavich - Hey Michael Wiggin, are you that stupid? It's not Utah's fault or the engineers fault. The 16 year old tried a U turn on a red light. It's sad. 99% of these accidents are the cars fault. You can't beat a train. Period. Maybe your comment should be Utah's idiot drivers strike again. I have a lot of friends and family from out of state. They come here and are scared to death to drive. I go there and start thinking, god I wish people in Utah would drive this way.
luke ray - C'mon people! It's not that difficult!
karen douglass hall - I know we all like pointing fingers and saying who's to blame and how drivers are stupid and who could have done what to prevent it, but the fact remains that there are 2 people in serious condition in the hospital. I think it might be a more constructive idea to send our positive thoughts and prayers to these two and their families.
malarie j aguilar - Not only that they have horns n things I know they use em so why not pay attention to the signals and things
clint gardner - They should have to pay for damages to the train as well as get a citation. This crap has got to stop as there's no freaking excuse.
heather-john nielsen - SERIOUSLY? When are people going to get a clue! You will NEVER win against a train!
travis pavich - Some people are idiots, expecting the train to stop, or thinking I can beat it. I hope everybody is ok, but instead of being afraid to get on trax, how about we figure some way to get these cars to realize their no match for the train. I feel safer on trax then I do in my car.
maribeth merton - Thank goodness someone with an ounce of human decency spoke up. It really doesn't matter how or why...people got HURT! Accidents happen. I just pray it never happens to all of you so quick to judge...or God forbid, anyone in YOUR family. Thank you Britney Reeves Hedin for having the gumption and decency to speak against the judgement squad calling for the death penalty. I, too, will join in praying for all those injured.
ard wood - If course it was the trains fault it's Utah worst drivers ever totally oblivious
eithan smalley - New slogan for trax,
" weeding out stupid people from day one"
michael wiggin - Utah's killer trains strike again!
rachel reed givens - Trains were the FIRST form of mass transit, they have been around since 1804 and yet people still can not figure out that a train can not stop quickly! Dumb drivers!!!!!!!!

KSL 5 TV: BREAKING: South Jordan police say a shooting that left a 15 and 12 year old dead in Daybreak last week - was a murder suicide.Comments:
lynn homer - Being a gun owner, and reading these post troubles me that the topic is all about the guns. We as a society need to be more sympathetic to the fact two young kids are gone. The reasons behind what happened are not clear, but parents when you see your child is troubled and depressed do something. Get help for them before it ever gets this far. As for guns in the house, when will people realize that guns shiuld be locked up. Todays society isn't the same as the society we grew up in. I am a firm believer in the statement, Guns don't kill people, people do. However we need to be responsible and not give someone the means.
pam rodriguez norton - Two mamas lost there babies my heart breaks for them
breanna hunsaker - It's another sad story of an irresponsible gun owner... I know guns don't kill people people with guns do but how many child deaths does there have to be before people start being responsible? Lock your guns up lock them up separately from the amo... it's not that hard
nina olson - Everyone needs to STOP this pointing fingers! THEY were both KIDS. It's tragic and they still had a mom, dad and siblings
nicole cranor wong - But lets all focus on the gun laws instead of MENTAL HEALTH!!!! Things like this can be prevented. I'm so sorry for their families and friends.
cristina yoder-barnes - Irresponsible gun owners....I'm sure the kids didn't own the gun...what about kids that do drugs...do we blame the irresponsible drug owners....people need to slow down a bit and quite blaming objects...where is the communication...come to my house my kids talk to us about everything....no joke ask the Other ten that are there every night...
blaise glaze - The kid had the Desire to seek out a gun, to do harm, to kill himself. So he had access to a gun... The gun didn't give this kid the desire to be bad.
sabrina mitchell - So sad that this happened down the street in my Neighborhood, but I also have to be honest. How in the first place were they able to get the gun? Irresponsible Parents not locking these guns away or the key not hidden properly? It happened and now we can't change it. Still my prayers go out to the Families. :(
kathy parsons hohosh - People are so judgemental, this is a tragedy that has affected 2 families that are probably already suffering & going through there own personal hells, along with their close friends. Instead of being quick to condemn & criticize, people should be reaching out to help them deal with their loss. I pray for the families and friends of these 2 young men to have the strength to get through this and for more compassion from others.
james roth - No Mary guns don't kill people not sure where or what part of the story said "A gun just happen to kill someone" are their idiots that don't take care of their guns YES. Can a gun really just kill someone NO!!! Come on, people die for all kinds of reasons. You can't outlaw "anything and everything" let's talk about how many peoples lives have been saved because they had a gun.
Guns don't kill people unfortunately people kill people.
stephanie healy almanza - As I have heard these poor kids were playing Russian roulette and didn't think a round was in the chamber. There was. The other kid that shot the first round felt so guilty that he turned the gun on himself. Heart breaking. My son was a friend of one of the boys.
noah case - Reading all these posts about kids have access to weapons and the adult blame game. Guns dont kill people. People kill people. Kids usually have reasons. The question is why and solving for that. Guns, knives, and weapons are and will always be available. Laws and blame are easy escapes. Understanding the erosion of societal values and erroded homes and moral values. Those are at the root.
nick strandgard - Prayers are with them and their families
marilyn mauerman - We don't know if there was an accident and the other was just a scared little kid and didn't think anyone would believe him. We just don't know. So everyone just STOP. Say a prayer for their families.
keith hamblin - My guess would be that the 12-year-old was shot by accident then the 15-year-old shot himself because he couldn't face what he had done. No matter the exact scenario, guns are not at fault.
miguel martinez - How about charging the irresponsible gun owner?
judy storer mccrory - Many people are just too quick to make a rush to judgment on this issue or others like it. The facts have not been exposed. Things are not as they seem on the surface. People need to be careful what they imply through their outspoken opinions because this could happen to anyone. These families are all in crisis. Let's try to show some compassion.
dal jorgenson - Kids way young do suicide eight years and up. Hugsforlife Suicideprevention
zach johnson - Why are you all assuming that he got the gun because of an "irresponsible gun owner"? There is such thing as a black market.
richard baraki - Kids have to much access to weapons
jennifer alshemary - That's so sad and awful.

KSL 5 TV: Should cell phone calls be allowed on planes?
Yes. Stay Connected. http://wedgi.es/17UcGu9
No. Too much noise. http://wedgi.es/1h78Ea0Comments:
jonathan goff - I don't want to hear other people's drama.
ryan phelps - Text only. Don't want some gabber while I'm trying to sleep.
donna everett - No can you imagine we would have " plane rage " there will always be loud talkers and to much talkers !!
bobbie murphy - No... We have to wear headphones when watching movies to help keep flight calm and quiet... Who wants to hear all the drama from phone calls not me... And I definitely don't want to risk having my children hear things they shouldn't!
emily bryn williams - No. But Texting would be reasonable
jana waldron taylor - No. I personally don't want to sit next to someone ("next to" meaning practically on each other's laps) and listen to them loudly chat about all their personal problems or even worse their mindless chitchat with their girlfriend.
lex scott - Raise your hand if your cell has ever even had the ability to call at 30k feet. Anyone? Oh wait there are no towers in the sky.
cheryl adams - NO!!!!!!!!!! I travel 3 out of 4 weeks in a month and I do NOT want to have to listen to the drama, the work junk, the garbage. It is OK to shut off the phone for a flight. If it's that important to be "in touch" sign into the carrier's internet and text or instant message! NO NO NO!!!!
marci landon - No. I really don't want to listen to my seatmate's conversation.
stephanie mccauley - Yes unless someone is making a phone call. I think that would be rude to the other people on the plane. I know I don't want to listen to the guys conversation 3 rows behind me.
tammy clifford larsen - No, too disruptive. I cannot abide hearing others cell conversations.
daniel ettinger - I see no reason not to allow them. A: There has never been any evidence found cellphones cause any interference with airliner systems. B: Airphones have been available for decades. C: Good luck maintaining connection while in flight.
lex scott - AT&T has zero bars at 30k feet
lex scott - I know that they do not cause interference with the plane. I was trying to explain why they were banned. They were banned because people thought they caused interference with planes. They don't. Most people are just worried that people will just sit and talk on their cell phones the whole flight, like all societal norms will just go out the window. Ps. Last time I flew there were no bars when I was in the sky. I doubt that people will even get service that high
carolyn taylor - No. Too much noise!
ronda ewing - I'm addicted to my phone....and I say NO!
spencer curtis - I enjoy them while I'm in the bathroom and people are pooping and talking on the phone. Why not EVERYWHERE?
tonga titcomb - No, no and many more NO's. It is bad enough just being in a store with those people that think that all of us want to be a part of their conversation so they talk LOUD and LOUDER as the conversation goes on. Heaven help us in being that close to a person on a plane.
travis erickson - The government should have NO say in this matter. Airlines are private coorperations, they should make the decision
phill supita - I would rather repeatedly jab a fork into my eye than have to sit next to someone talking on their cell phone on the plane.
gabrielle oviatt - As a fight attendant I say no because it's a small tube. It would get so loud with everyone on the phone

jen anderson - Well it's got downright scary in Logan.
james w. anderson - Saw absolutely nothing at all down here, about 10pm we saw a plump gibbous moon, and have had only light rain at times today, absolutely calm in Provo all day and even now it's calm.
camille danielson - I'm in northern utah county and have been from American fiork/lehi to eagle mtn/saratoga springs. I didn't notice much wind at all. Did you mean to say northern utah county or northern salt lake, weber or davis county? It's still pretty calm out there right now.

chandra rose - There was an arc light that fell on 28th and Washington and a sign that blew apart was all across the road on 30th and Washington. It was crazy driving. Most of the street lights were out also.
susan anderson garcia - Still very strong here on U campus.
heidi putman - Crystal Volpi, glad she is ok
nelson villegas - #kslam did you mean northern Utah county or northern Utah counties?

sally jo talbot mcnicol - Diagnosed with breast cancer 2012 stage 2....after chemo and radiation.....I kicked cancers BUTT! (0;
angela york - When challenger exploded. I was in Florida at the time in 3rd grade. I remember watching my teachers cry as we looked at the smoke in the sky. I learned that my teachers were not super human because of their tears and because a former teacher died in the challenger. I also learned that it does not take super human people to do amazing things. Only average people doing what they love despite the sacrifice.
phillip wright - @Chandra... SPACE BAR!
angela perronne griffin - Jan 28 1986 when the Challenger space shuttle exploded. Sad day
dave soutter - I was only 5 when JFK died, and I do remember it. Growing up in the 60s, the Beatles were huge and I was a fan and was sad when they broke up in 1970.. When John Lennon was killed in 1980, I recall hearing the news on my car radio. And at that point, I knew the Beatles could never unite.
dusty averett - Jim Jones/Challenger/Princess Dianna/ 9-11 all defining moments in my life
phillip wright - Defining moment of my generation... Miley Cyrus- Wrecking Ball. She just speaks to us. She stands for so many good things! Feminisim, Equality, Twerking. OMG! Such a hero!
nina pettit morse - Challenger explosion, 9/11, first black president. And hopefully soon, first female president.
sally jo talbot mcnicol - Oh....It made me stronger and more companionate <3
jessica bennett-anderson - 9/11 I was 16. I watched it live in school that day. We had no classes. Just sat, stared, cried, and made phone calls.
travis pavich - I am 35, so I wasn't around when JFK was assassination. But 2 defining moments stick to me. The Challenger mishap, and 9-11. Two things that I will never forget.
thane heiser - 50 years ago...watching my dad glued to the t.v. Stunned by the assassination of J.F.K.
karen fuller - For me, it was 9/11. I was 17, just starting my first class of the day in high school. People were talking about an explosion and a bomb. I didn't understand what the chatter was, another teacher had kept coming into our class saying another plane hit, towers were collapsing, etc. It wasn't until later that day that my last class had permission to watch the live coverage that what was happening in New York started to sink in,
cheryl lyn carreau - Cabage pach kids and no I never got one
stan kano - A defining moment for me was the assassination of John F.Kennedy. I believe I was 10 and I felt like Arthur when Camelot fell and innocence fell with it.
albert rojero - When I lost my virginity
betty mckenna - This may sound silly! But it was the day Elvis Presley died. It taught me that making bad choices was not for me. That money can not buy happiness. And that no matter who we are, we all die some day!
brandon seibold - 2 girls 1 cup. Dennis Nalley Brett Kelez-Baird
angela gingerich brown - For me it was 9/11. I was a freshman in college. I still remember that day and the weeks that followed like it was yesterday. Sometimes I still think of America in terms of before and after 9/11. I think it has made me more aware of the world.
rochelle dolim - Man's first walk on the moon and seeing what our planet looks like from there.
jen anderson - 9/11- i developed such empathy and compassion for complete strangers and felt united with our Country and each citizen for the first time in my life.

KSL 5 TV: SEVERE WEATHER: We've tracked wind gusts as high as 78 mph in Farmington, 64 mph in Centerville and 61 mph in Bountiful in the KSL Weather Center. Make sure you get your garbage cans and patio furniture secured -- and tonight at 10, Kevin Eubank will tell where the storm is expected to intensify overnight.Comments:
lynnette h chadwick - Please bring in your animals too. Neighbors not home & poor little dogs are outside.
cory thompson - KSL needs to do a story asking the power companies why it is they don't bury the power lines in this state like they do in other states. With the wind as frequent as it is in this state, seems it would be common sense to put the power lines underground. I bet these folks at the power company are getting pretty disgusted having to run out every five seconds because of power outages and, this isn't to mention how much danger their lives are being put in having to mess with this crap in these winds.
larry montoya - Anybody wanna fly kites?
barbara gustaveson - In Farmington the wind is so strong I can feel my house shake.
stephanie saffell-wilkinson - Love to know what the winds are on east bench of North ogden the wind is ridiculous up here.
jessica moffitt - My house is also shaking from the wind in ogden.
sandi lucio - Not sure how strong the winds are in North Ogden, but all three sides of our fence is down... and the wind is still going strong.

dawn gomez - Very strong wind here ,in Ogden,I can't sleep!
asha peck - How to we tune in to Kevin at 10 with no power?....haha
corinne oliverson - I hope we all will have better weather tomorrow.
nikki davidson wicks - The gusts come and go in Layton now. It was really windy for a few hours.
andrew t larsen - Let's hope the only "Timbers" that fall this week, are the ones in Portland to RSL.
monica kitchens schruhl - no wind in Logan... I like the wind but think I better feel grateful it's not blowing here ❤️
dave limauge - I just moved here from Southern Oregon..love SLC and love this weather
lisa steele - Yay?!?!?! Farmington wins????
sarah halcom - The AFB hasn't lost power yet. Thank goodness.
susan elaine gouett burleson - Power just came back on here in Ogden
