- Tonight at 10: A neighbor's right to their opinion or the need for acceptance and understanding (Type: link | Published: 2013-08-21T01:37:55+0000)
KSL 5 TV: Tonight at 10: A neighbor's right to their opinion or the need for acceptance and understanding? The family of an autistic teen is told to move or else "euthanize" the boy. Police are now investigating. What this mom says has happened before.Comments:
kevin carpenter - Matt Bohrnsen Your comments are on the same level as the letter that was written. First off this took place in Canada, not Utah. Secondly, nowhere in the letter does it indicate that it was written by a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Your comments only further strengthen the idea that hate its alive and well amongst those that are different that the rest of the "world". Would you make the same ignorant comments if the writer of the letter was identified as a Jew?
emily jackson - What does this have to do with Mormons? That comment makes you just as naive and stupid as the person that wrote the letter.
alice león - The woman who wrote this letter is letter is a coward! Instead of the teaching her children to be tolerant, helpful, respectful if one another she is preaching HATE!!! What a poor excuse for a Mother.
dyllan guthrie - Leave it to some ignorant, uneducated fool like Matt Bohrnsen to drag Mormonism into this.
stuart taylor watkins - Matt, how ignorant and stupid of a comment is that?! And since when is religion a part of this article?! How about you stay on topic or keep your crap comments to yourself.
tony garcia - this makes me sick i have an autistic son and wouldnt trade him for the world
stephanie muir jimenez - Matt must be related to the person who wrote the letter.
brad bettinson - Hey, Matt Bohrnsen you bigot?! Why don't you read the story? It wasn't Utah. You sound like someone who would write that kind of letter.
julia smith - This neighbor sounds super classy. I hope no one that she loves ever ends up with a disability!
sean mccall - As a father I'd feel we'll within my right to punch said neighbor squarely in the throat.
mike-kim long - I have spent the majority of my life working with a supporting people with disabilities and this is not an isolated incident....in my experience people with developmental disabilities can teach us all lessons about unconditional love, tolerance and respect even when they do not receive the same in return!
chelsea b. merkley - This letter is disgraceful and horrible; in its behavior and demeanor. Euthanize a boy? Prayers for this autistic child and his family. I pray they find the author of the letter and get that person locked away.
deedee rardin castro - I work with Autistic kids, this breaks my heart!!
craig anderson - Speaking of morons, this happened in Canada not in utah nothing to do with mormons, what a sad state of affairs.. when we lose all compassion for mankind, it was not the childs fault whom ever wrote the letter needs some professional help.God have mercy on her....
tamara j shaw - Police say if found the author will be prosecuted. Every now and then I think a little vigilante justice is deserved.
frank bedolla - Post the neighbors name, so the public could euthanize him.
tiffany bridetobe o'neal - ignorance!!! who is the truly "handicap" one? Not the child! :/
vanesa alexander sarazua - I hope they identify the person and make her move.... to jail...!
max blackwell - What the F? It is a sad world we live in.
katie king - I almost feel worse for whoever wrote the letter. What an empty, pathetic and miserable life you must have. Nothing better to do but sit around all day and listen for people to make noise in the neighborhood? Yikes. Pretty sad.
mike-kim long - Seriously... Put them in a home? Isn't that where he was......home!
- Las Vegas Police are looking for two men they say posed as LDS missionaries before they alleged (Type: photo | Published: 2013-08-20T20:09:57+0000)
KSL 5 TV: Las Vegas Police are looking for two men they say posed as LDS missionaries before they allegedly attacked and robbed a resident after knocking on his front door. Coming up on KSL at 5, more details on the crime and more images of the criminal companionship caught on surveillance camera.Comments:
pamela d helms - Unreal, but so are those of you saying bad things about a religion. I am not a Mormon but I respect your your beliefs please respect others
glen hansen - Not to defend the Mormons, but bashing and spreading stereotypical stories about them, Muslims, Jews, gays or any other group is not being a disciple of Jesus Christ. Practice love and tolerance not the hatred and separatism taught by satan and politicians.
mandy rocha davis - No name tags and they appear too old. It is unfortunate people have to stoop so low. They posed as missionaries, because LDS missionaries represent good, honest, caring, Christ like people. Very sad
mandy davis clegg - That's horrible. I hope they catch them and as part if their punishment meet with missionaries once a week, church on Sundays and community service to be carried out and completed at the MTC. Bet they'll never try that stunt again
jamie maynes - For those ignorant, uneducated commenters Mormons are followers of Christ and they do their best to help their fellow man. They are not a cult and they don't lie, cheat, and steal. So before you open your ignorant mouths at every chance, educate yourselves on lds.org instead of viewing anti-Mormon sites.
taiyo palefau - This happens between 6:30 and 7:00 am and missionaries dont start proselyting until 9 am. A daily schedule for missionaries is 6:30 to 7 is their preparation time for the day, 7 to 9 is their study time so those were not LDS missionaries.
michelle smith sturgell - I will not disclose my religious preference, but it seems that no matter what God you believe in, posing as a teacher of Gospel if that is not your intention will hold a hefty penalty when it you come face to face finally with the one whom you call Creator.
lester gray - I served a 2 year LDS mission. By far the best decision I have ever made. I feel sorry for those who find pleasure in disrespecting others.
mark harmon - I can't decide which is worse: what happened to this poor guy in Vegas, or the immediate jump to disrespect in this comment thread?
jacey walker carpenter - So, do people just hover over their computers waiting for any opportunity to bash Mormons? Seems so, judging by this thread. What do two idiots posing as religious representatives and violently attacking innocent people have to do with Mormon doctrine or beliefs? Nothing! Take your vitriol somewhere else, people.
lindsay nicholson - Ughhh here we go again. Another person claiming to have a relationship with God by bashing another religion. Since when is hatred something God promotes or accepts?
jamie buckner - How do they know they aren't Mormon missionaries?
kelli merriman whipple - Because a missionary wouldn't do that.
samuel macias - Look on the positive side to this, which is that people know what REAL missionaries look like and they will never take ANYTHING from anyone, they come to your house to bring you the most valuable thing they posses their testimony of Jesus Christ and the message of the good news that His Gospel has been restored.
WE must all forgive these men, and forgive anyone here saying defamatory things about the LDS church.
Just remember, one da "every knee shall bend, and every tongue proclaim that Christ is come as Lord and King"
landen-scarlet weiss - Make sad that ppl has no respect for someone's faith, doesn't matter which religion we are just respect their believes
dena mae garza - Missing Name tags, this is sad and pathetic of the imposters. Prayers for this family
lisa bunn hansen - that's just sad that the church missionaries are being used like that... so wrong!!!
mario a. ayala lacayo - BE AWARE OF MISSIONARIES WHEN THEY COME TO YOUR HOME, FOR THEY WILL ASK YOU TO DO THE FOLLOWING AMONG MANY OTHER THINGS:
1) Come unto Christ with full purpose of heart.
2) Belive in God the Eternal Father.
3) Listen and live your life by the holy spirit. And make ritghtous decios in accordance wigh God's laws and commandments.
4) Obey ALL of the commandments of God.
5) Repent of your sins as you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
6) Accept His atoning sacrifice.
7) Change your life and become a witness for Christ at all times and in all places.
8) Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and have a stronger faith in him every day.
9) Live a pure life as you become like Christ
10) Live your life whorthy of returning to God after this life, and fight the good fight by following Jesus Christ and being like him..
And much .more.....ask the missionaries....
mario a. ayala lacayo - What happens in Vegas...stays in Vegas....
we ALL know the LDS church does not send out missionaries to do that. Make no mistake! We go out to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. The truth will come out and we all WILL know.
anny delpino duncan - I am a Mormon and I was a missionary one day. These guys are not missionaries. We do not do this kind of thing. I am sorry for the people that were victims in that. So sad.
lance peterson - Mormons aren't the only religion running around door to door and chasing people down. Stop being so egotistical and thinking these guys are trying to look like you. Obviously not. Mormon missionary's wear short sleeved shirts, badges and arent allowed to wear backpacks. Not even close to what these guys look like. Get over yourselves.

- What piece of outdated tech can you not give up? Coming up on the Browser 5.0 at 12:30 we will (Type: photo | Published: 2013-08-20T16:38:46+0000)
KSL 5 TV: What piece of outdated tech can you not give up? Coming up on the Browser 5.0 at 12:30 we will look at where CDs are selling faster than digital downloads, and the reasons sales are so brisk. Tell us what tech you aren't ready to "upgrade" and we may share your comment on air?Comments:
jillene prolo arrington - Books. I can't bring myself to own an e-reader. There is just something about holding the actual book in your hands.
natalie johnson gygi - upgrade the work place! With technology today there is alot of people who could work from home. And because of the lack of commute it would be good for utah air!
alisha mercedes green - I still really enjoy taking my
Class notes in an actual notebook I. Pay more attention when I can doodle vs surf the web.
Books sometimes vs e readers
Paper calendar I never use the one on my phone I have 4 in my house instead :)!
Also I love my old fashioned cameras and developing photographs for myself
wendy johnson - My husband of 51 years. I finally got him figured out and he still works.
bill clayton - I still spin vinyl records on the weekends. Analog breathes with a life that cannot be captured in the digital realm.
doug long - We like the physical asset in our hands. That's why books aren't going anywhere. CD's, unlike digital downloads, are something we control, carry and play anywhere we go, and cannot magically disappear with a glitch or software malfunction.
joey white - I still have a paper calendar on the counter to write schedules down on regularly. i love having it in my phone too, but sometimes I just gotta have it all laid out on paper so I can see the whole plan.
devin bigelow - My old brick looking cell phone all it does is call people can you believe that!
angela gingerich brown - DVDs. We don't own an HD TV so there's no point for us to pay more money for Blue Ray discs. and books. I realize that's not exactly technology but I don't own an ebook reader. I need to hold the book in my hands to enjoy it fully.
kathy butler - A CD or a book is cheaper and easier to replace than a device if it gets broken. If a devise gets broken then you have to replace the device and all of the contents that was on the devise. I think that you should be able to keep a record of every think you buy and put on the device you chose. Then if you upgrade the device or if it gets broken you and reinstall all of the books and music you had on the device without having to pay for it all over again. I can't afford to pay for everything all over again.
heather nordgren - Books. As much as I love being able to take my Nook and travel anywhere with that easily , without damaging one of my hard copies, there is absolutely nothing that will replace my books. The smell of them, the sight of them in my bookcases, going to the store to browse through new books.. Completely irreplaceable.
jan jameson - We love vinyl records love the sound
And we have VHS tapes
tyson e. dewsnup - We still buy CDs. And Vinyl records. I like owning the actually album, just something about it. I also still have a fax machine at home and a land line (well, it's actually not completely outdated because it is VoIP).
glenn ballard - People want to own their stuff, not be beholden to the entity that provides the download.
xavien j ray - And ebooks are bad on our eyes books are a lot better
xavien j ray - I buy Cd's for the experience downloading is for the lazy
mike zauner - Vacuum tubes, vinyl, and a straight razor. All technologies that far predate me, but make life so much more enjoyable. I have vacuum tube devices scattered throughout the house of varying vintage from the 1930s to the 2010s. Tubes have a simplicity to their design that modern amps don't have. Also, tubes distort sound in a more pleasing manner. My vinyl collection is growing quickly. CDs are way too clean, to the point of being sterile. They also have been mastered out of having any dynamic range, and therefore sound like $15 of noise. This isn't done with vinyl records, so they have the dynamic range you'd expect from music. Vinyl also has surface noise, just like life. A symphony isn't without someone sneezing or coughing up front, unless it's a symphony on CD.
Also, wet shaving fixes my sensitive skin issues with a cartridge razor. I always thought I had sensitive skin because expensive cartridges destroyed my face. Then, I bought a double edged razor safety and badger hair brush. Cost to shave dropped from $4 a shave to $0.10 per shave and I've had one ingrown hair on my face in the 2.5 years since. Since, I've bought a straight razor, and absolutely love the smooth effortless shave I get.
allison smith tullis - CDs for me. I like them for the car and I like to read the sleeves with all the information about the songs, etc. I also don't like downloading. Too complicated. I've never figured out how to do it. Guess I'm just old fashioned!
brenda ferre horman - Kathy Butler I agree but I buy things on amazon and they have cloud that virtual stores everything. I have gone through 4 upgrades and got everything back that I bought from the cloud.
brenda ferre horman - Non digital cameras. Record player.
erika munns anderson - VHS. My kids can't scratch those!!

paula jonas - I would put it in the living room. So we can spend more time as a family.
raydon cardenas - I have 2 tv's in my house.
mike zauner - I have the 42" Bravia I used to build my credit as a teen. I took out a few loans for electronics to build my credit, and that TV was one of them. 8 years later, it's nowhere near as nice as new panels, but it shows me moving pictures.
amanda jane root hunsaker - I don't own a single flat screen!
paula jonas - I do not own any T.V. sets.
tonie hall - 2 flat screens and 1 old tv....
cindie taylor gee - Only 1, would love another!
- Would you want your coworkers to know how much you make? Coming up on the Browser 5.0 at 12:30 (Type: photo | Published: 2013-08-19T15:55:34+0000)
KSL 5 TV: Would you want your coworkers to know how much you make? Coming up on the Browser 5.0 at 12:30 we will look at why one company is going with total salary transparency, and why the practice could become commonplace. Let us know what you think about the idea, and we may share your comment on air.Comments:
kirsi driscoll - In my opinion, the best balance is to release the pay ranges for certain positions, but not specific information for each person.
beth hunsaker garn - It's a great idea and could help close the gender wage gap.
matt caldwell - It causes drama every place I have worked at. Bad idea
jami granger hunt - I think it could have possibilities, if it forced a company to give equal pay for equal work. More than once I have trained someone at a previous company, only to find out after they left that I had been making less money. I'm thinking that if I'M the one with the experience to train them, then I should be paid more...
jen profaizer crook - Oh my heavens no! Why would that even be a good idea?
linda walter rowley - I have always wondered why it was a secret. If your pay is up and you are a lazy employee this might give you a boost to work harder.
heather hiestand stites - This reminds me of the "everyone gets a trophy and an A if they show up" mentality. Equal pay for equal work sounds like a good idea, but the problem is that some people's idea of equal is not even close to it. Honestly, a private company has the right to decide what to pay people and it's no one's business what another's salary is.
ralph phillip perea - Great Idea!! I think it will equal out the workplace. The company willl have to make sure they have documentation of why each person make X amount. It will force this company to follow equal pay for equal work.
don love - Already happens for those who work for the State of Utah. It's on the internet, names and yearly salaries. Not the employee's choice to share I'm sure, but someone thought it important enough to know other people's business to insist it be public knowledge. Job titles and salaries -- maybe ok- with specific names...no.
chris cram - There are some things to be kept private, doesn't mean it is a secret just private. What I earn and what I spend is not my co-workers business. I have absolute no desire to know what they earn, it none of my business. Out of respect it should maintain privacy.
karen hymas gillmore - Because I didn't know to negotiate my salary when I started my career, I unwittingly put myself in a lower salary track. As I worked my way up I learned it was company policy to not raise a salary more than 4% per year. I was making far less than others. Perhaps this policy would inspire companies to pay everyone in the position closer to the same.
april larson - I bet those saying bad idea are the ones making the higher wages in their field, & those saying do it are the hard working lower paid. Usually those afraid of losing something want to keep it to themselves. I say do it, make pay equal to how hard you work, not who you know & let everyone see it.
melanie brown - no way!! this causes way too much drama in the workplace.
amanda montoya - My financial affairs are mine and my partner's business. My co-workers do not need to know what I make and I really don't care to know what they make.
heather parker - Military has been doing it for years GET OVER IT PEOPLE .... if your salary is your identity youve got problems!!!
rebecca zaugg - Highly inappropriate, for many reasons. /HR Manager
pat jones soper - Wrong. I think we should be able to see what public employees are paid but not in the private sector. Private is just that ~ private.
gail fletcher tanner - No way!! Wages should never be transparent. Besides, raises and/or bonuses can change the numbers. Some employees just plain work harder than others and should be compensated for it. I think it would cause a lot of employee to employee contention and outrage if wages were transparent..
april larson - I find it funny all these adults saying there will be issues because of differences in pay. Yes, if cutie started 3months ago, slacks, & makes more than someone that works hard, & has been there 5yrs. But that is the practice that wouuld be stopped by knowing everyones pay. Your starting wage should go off of your experience. Raises should go off of how hard & well you do your job. It's simple. You should be paid what your worth & how hard you work. Not your gender, not just how long you've been there, not your looks, ect. Why would knowing wages & that they are fair cause problems?
julie miller - I think it could create jealousy in the work place. People working the same job without equal pay could create massive problems. Especially those who don't pull their weight and every place has someone like this. No body needs to know what another person makes.
terry gordon jones - Then they should release the salaries of CEO's and managers as well....
- More and more people are adopting a gluten-free diet - whether they need to for medical reasons (Type: status | Published: 2013-08-19T11:06:34+0000)
KSL 5 TV: More and more people are adopting a gluten-free diet - whether they need to for medical reasons or not. Today on KSL AM, Bill Gephardt talks to doctors about the health benefits and risks associated with going gluten-free. Have you ever tried taking the wheat out of your diet?Comments:
catina cecchini haverlock - Katherine Storey Bronson If only wheat were the same today as it were 200 years ago. We took wheat (which is highly inflammatory) out of my mom's diet and saw the following: 25 pound weight loss in 2 months, remission of arthritis, disappearance of back pain which had plagued her over a decade, a foot which had swelled for over 20 years, not swell anymore, off of her Nexium, off of her blood pressure medication. More and more we are learning that for those with auto-immune and/or inflammatory issues, wheat is death. Research Monsanto, which controls all wheat grain. All of it. And genetically modifies the crap out of it too. God doesn't change, but wheat sure has.
cindy sward lemon - @Tim Reed, do a little research on how our wheat has been modified. It definitely is not the same wheat our grandparents used.
madeline freeman - If you have celiac disease wheat certainly will kill you. I agree that for some it is a fad. But for others eating gluten free is a necessity.
karyn vincent - There are no "risks" to living a gluten-free lifestyle. *rolling eyes at KSL*
jen profaizer crook - I wonder how safe xanthun gum is though? It's a chemically made compound that acts as a bonding agent in gluten free food. Maybe everyone is trading in a natural by product of wheat for more chemicals. I'm not jumping on this fad. While true Celiac's need to for survival, this whole movement feels and looks like a fad waiting to backfire someday... I'll just continue to eat all foods in moderation.
angelina peña nelson - I'm super low starch. The bread I get for my family is sprouted wheat I think the problem with our food in America is the dramatic processing of everything we eat. Too many steroids, to much antibiotics, too much hybrid seed. Our bodies can't keep up with the changing food. We grow a garden, eat natural beef, and basically avoid corn, wheat, rice and processed foods.
madeline freeman - I have celiac disease so for me it is a moot point whether I eat GF or not. My only problem is eating a GF diet is expensive.
tim reed - Funny how some people want to blame pharmaceutical companies and the govt as a conspiracy to eat wheat. We as humans have been eating it for thousands of years. Moderation in all things is a motto to live by
adrianne jacobsen - It's a personal choice for people. U die if u eat healthy, u die if u don't. It's all the same!!!
janet ray graham - It may have been the staff of life, but as its proteins have been modified it has become a major allergen. I have a daughter who has celiac disease and both of her children are sensitive to wheat. I know a lot of people, myself included who feel much better when avoiding foods with gluten.
pamela harmon castagna - The only "risks" are that as more people go gluten or wheat free, for whatever reason, the more processed products pop up on the shelves. Over-hybridization of the wheat combined with over-processing of it for shelf products is the likely cause of this intolerance explosion. The same thing could very well end up happening to corn (GMO) and rice (arsenic) what most gluten-free products are made from. Going gluten-free does not have to be as restrictive or costly as some make it out to be. Eat REAL food, stay away from the processed stuff as much as possible.
tim heare - I wonder how many people actually have a medical diagnosis of ciliac's disease, and how many have "self diagnosed" be cause they want to blame something for health issues. I thought I might have it, my doctor tested, and I don't (turns out I just have developed lactose issues). He said true ciliac's disease is not very common.
leslie james - Eating whole wheat toast right now
katherine storey bronson - Wheat is the staff of life.
stacey fabros - Wheat isn't food. Not for humans or animals. You only have to listen to Dr. Lane Sebring for five minutes or watch the documentary "The Perfect Human Diet" to figure out how nutrition "experts," a medical education system that is controlled by the pharmaceutical industry, and the federal government's Food Pyramid are making us sick and killing us. I've been eating paleo for only 4 weeks and my serum cholesterol has already dropped 30 points. My vision has improved and I have more energy.
brad bradley - Less than 2% of the population have a gluten problem... the other 98% of the population is tired of hearing about it.
brad bradley - As long as it's NOT bacon free...
barbara parkinson mathews - Gluten free for me means...
Digestion problem solved
cassandra nelson bowers - I have been gluten free for almost a year. I quit eating it to see if it helped me feel better, and it did. My feet no longer swell, my digestion is much better, and I overall feel much better. I can tell when I eat some by mistake, because I feel sick. I'm glad that it is becoming more popular because that means there are a lot more choices out there that are gluten free.
bryan e wilson - I have read Wheat Belly and I think it is a farce. Talk about fear mongering. The rule is all things in moderation. Excercise and eat smart and I promise wheat wont kill you.
amanda eskeets - I'm allergic to most gluten substitutes, along with many other foods. Wheat products are one of the few things I CAN eat. I'm beyond ready for this trend to go away. It would be nice to eat food for a change. Should some people be gluten-free for health reasons? Of course. But the majority of people don't. If you want to find something that causes health problems look at additives like MSG and Soy. Soy is creeping into everything- it's almost impossible to find store bought bread without it.
- BREAKING: Larry H. Miller family has reported Roger Miller, son of Gail and the late Larry H. M (Type: status | Published: 2013-08-19T02:20:12+0000)
KSL 5 TV: BREAKING: Larry H. Miller family has reported Roger Miller, son of Gail and the late Larry H. Miller has passed. Details on KSL at 10 p.m.Comments:
stacy ehninger hopkins - People, people its their JOB to report NEWS IN UTAH! If you don't like it, unlike their page! Omg!
linda blackburn - It is news to those of us that care
travis pavich - It's breaking news for one reason. It's a member of the Miller family, who has done so much for the state of Utah. If it wasn't for Larry, there would be no Jazz, no Bees, no racetrack and no megaplex theaters. RIP. my condolences to the Miller family.
stacy ehninger hopkins - @Scott it says "breaking:" and it also says the Miller Family is reporting this info. Geez people the family has done A LOT for this city and surrounding areas.
margie earl - sorry for thier loss but how is this breaking news??
nicole hinton jones - People, please think long and hard before you decide to comment. PLEASE. I am always appalled at how many insensitive people there are. Would you want someone to say negative things about a deceased family member of yours? I think not.
I personally knew Roger and talked to him just last week and am just saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to the entire Miller family.
amber pendergrass - Whether it is breaking news or not, as you write your comments and make your assumptions, please try to keep in mind that tonight many people are mourning the loss of their son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend etc. I met Roger on many occasions and he was a nice man and a good father. My heart goes out to the Miller family.
sean lamb - Utah's economy would be pretty lousy without the Millers.
Which you have benefited from.
U don't have to bawl your eyes out.
Just have a little respect.
kathy stay - People, give it a rest, if you have a problem with it being "Breaking News" you obviously aren't doing anything right now, except sitting on Facebook, being rude, but that is your problem, not anyone else's. have a little respect for your fellow man. KSL 5 TV: On Sunday Edition at 9 a.m. we look at an anniversary of fires that gripped the nation's attention. It's the 25th anniversary of the 1988 Yellowstone wildfires. What are your memories of the fires?Comments:
ray s. ormond - They waited WAY too long to start fighting it. All the ultra-tree-huggers wanted it to "burn naturally", which was total foolishness! You don't declare something a "National Treasure", then let it go up in flames. Dumb!
wendy mcdaniel - We lived in Sugar City Idaho (by Rexburg Idaho) at the time, and my dad was a volunteer firefighter in the 1988 Yellowstone fire. I will never forget praying for his safety every day, all day it seemed, and also how eerily red orange the sun, and especially the moon looked from the raging fire and smoke. One story my dad told that scared us from EVER setting any unnecessary fires, was how he was trying to form a line of dirt to stop a low burning blaze. He said that before he knew it, the fire and the intense heat reached the high top branches of the tall trees around them and the sound was like a freight train, and it moved FAST. The captain yelled at his men to cover themselves with the fire blanket fire fighters use, and dad said it felt like they were being cooked alive, like a TV dinner. Luckily they were close enough to the Yellowstone Lake, that after the danger passed, they were able to get relief from the Lake. They all said they knew and felt they were protected. The Lord DOES answer prayers, and this proved it to me!!!
heather-john nielsen - My memories are of driving through the aftermath of the fires with a blonde friend of mine and having her say, "Look at all those weird trees. Did they plant them that way?" TRUE STORY!
kathleen reilly white - Roy. R.i.p. Kathleen
nancy jones knowlton - But it has also lead to great discussions now with my kids when we visit about how god renews the earth, and how amazing it is that now you can't tell. Beautiful new trees have taken the place of those that burned.
nancy edwards haskins - How come something so pretty be so deadly.
don sherman - I Remember they said it was a Natural Fire and it should burn Naturally when it Threaten to burn the UN-NATURAL buildings and Boardwalks in the Park they then spent Millions of Dollars trying to protect them !! When they FIRST seen the Fire One man with a Shovel could have Extinguished it !!
tori mickelson - i remember flying in with my dads plane, and evacuating people out of west yellowstone...we were leaving on one run, and taking off the tarmak when the wind shifted suddenly and our plane tipped to the point where the right wing barely missed the ground and the left wing was straight up in the air....we made several flights in and out of there.
danna goddessia long - Ash an haze in st George , the pic of the mama bird that didn't fly away to save her babies. Will never forget that .
charlotte apple - We were in Yellow stone when it was burning. It burned forever.
kathleen reilly white - My husband as a child had to leave Yellowstone to get his asthma shots, or they would have been in the fire, He has since past on, but this is how I remember the day. God Bless you r
gail simmons christensen - I was living on Ellsworth AFB, SD at the time and we had ashes from the fire coming down
ruth barrow braga - I went to a concert by Mannheim Steamroller that they held to fundraise for it-I was young so its interesting that is all I really remember! !
kevin maynard - I was at a Boy Scout Camp 6 miles from the east gate of the park. Tons of ash!
justin reeves - I remember the constant rain of ash on our campsite in the southwest bechler region of the park. I was 7
krista nfse york - i remember we had just left the park that day it started and didnt hear anything bout it until we got to my uncle house in Logan .. We had our jaws dropped
bob lyman - I camped out during the fires. The worst part was driving through smoke and flames in my open Jeep.
mandy rasband strebel - We went to Yellowstone that year! I remember getting hot ash in my eye!
tonie hall - It was horrifiic, And it burned a lot, it looked so desolate there. We vacationed there after the fire and could not believe the devastation.......
janet shaw riser brown - was there on vacation
wynne ipsen evans - I hate fire!!! When I was little our house burnt to the ground from a water heater that exploded...They used to be in the kitchen back then...

kris pettersen barr - so sad that so many people seem more concerned with whether or not Lagoon is open...MY GOD PEOPLE, there are people in danger of losing lives and homes and you only care if you can ride a roller coaster??? Another thing, with how close they are saying this is to Lagoon, can you imagine the panic and the people that would be hurt if they had to evacuate Lagoon? AND, the air quality in the area would be so terrible, how could anyone BREATHE???
cindy ogilvie miska - @ Martha no its our fire season like the Midwest has tornado season and the east coast has hurricanes we have fires.
georgi harris dalton - Maybe because some people traveled 250 or more miles to go to lagoon to give their kids some fun and didn't even know about the fire. I'm sure they are all concerned about the potential losses. Give em a break.
debbie giambrone - Even if lagoon is open not sure I'd want to breathe in whatever is in the air. Find an indoor place to take kids until some of this dissipates. I'm in Davis county and have ash floating in my yard from the skull valley fire. Just a thought!
brittney maxwell - Sad:( But that is a really cool picture
christine rollins - Dang this is totally crazy! God we are in need of some desperate rain. Please help:)
matt n candace nielsen - What's messed up the firefighters left the skull valley fire to go fight the rockport fire because the homes there weren't trailers
angela harris - We have had a lot of dry lightning this past month. Why do we have to start pointing fingers at the bow hunters because the hunt opened this weekend? We have had a pretty calm fire season compared to previous years.
shirley bailey - Any one out fighting these fires are my heroes! God bless
sara thompson - Anyone know what's going on on antelope island?
shelly homan billington - So sorry the land is burning...but praying all are safe an have their 72 hour kits :-)
shelley hansen - Boo...hopefully today we'll have some rain to help out. Last thing we need though is more lightening.
jose tirado - no lightning, it must be target shooting
heather nelson - It's been years since my parents' have planned a trip from Wyoming to go to Lagoon ... Now there's a fire nearby . Murphy needs to take his law elsewhere !
mark green - Saw this last night when it started...Where is the Rain!!??
himes sacco delaine - Wow out by Lagoon and threatening people and homes
lynn murphy - I hate to see the destruction of our wooded areas; there are fires blazing away in Idaho as well. God bless our firefighters who are raging their lives in this incredible heat wave and may these fires be under control soon without the loss of lives and homes.
carla frampton - God is sending a message! Bless all who are homeless right now, if I can help in any way possible I will. God Bless those risking their lives to save the Families, Homes n the Land We Live on. May all this hatered end. AMEN
laura staley gubler - People probably want to know if Lagoon is open or closed to save the trip. If I had been planning on going today then I would ask. No harm done. Goodness. prayers to those in harms way and the firer fighters AND Lagoon.
tama child - I didnt hear target shooting..but theyre in police custody!
sissy covington - Is lagoon open?????????

rayola greenburg brown - My husband is one of the firefighters!
chelsea b. merkley - Be careful Residents and Firefighters!!!
alisha jurgensmeier - The fires in Utah don't compare to the biggest fires in the nation in Idaho........ All fires are sad and the West needs a big very very big rain storm soon!!!!
sheri mckinnon burgess - Fox13 said 2 men have been arrested for starting it.
baylor josephson - Please, let it destroy Lagoon.

shannon anderson - They have an amazing fire station that will work quickly to get things under control.
matt n candace nielsen - There goes all the big bucks for tomorrows opener
teresa anderson - God bless the Emergency workers firer fighters, and all the men and women fighting these firers and helping people that can't breath.
kevin hardesty - That's funny site about Joseph Smith! Get real.
emily butcher harrison - The ash is from the other fires.
nikki wicks - We need some major rain and hate to say it, but we need a wicked winter with lots of snow for the mountains.

KSL 5 TV: A new JC Penny ad has many parents saying it sends the wrong message: kids who don't dress the right way won't have any friends. We want to know what you think. Watch the ad and tell us if it sends the wrong message. We'll share some of your thoughts coming up on KSL 5 News at 6:30. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niQSECd1OagComments:
chrissy webster - Sometimes people read way too much into things.
jamie bogart mccormick - I watched it 3 times and can't find anything wrong with it.
lindsay hutchins critchlow - I think people are way to sensitive any more, its just a commercial trying to sell its clothes nothing more!
jonathan goff - This sounds like another worthless story meant to generate controversy and ratings
rebekah timlin meddles - I don't think it necessarily sends that message. I hear a mom rolling her eyes at the things her kids HAVE to have... We all deal with it with our kids. One of my sons will wear nothing but skinny jeans. The other son won't touch them.... and the other one wouldn't care if he had to wear a burlap sack to school. If the ad showed kids actually being mean to each other for not wearing the "cool" clothes, then I would have a problem with it but even the cafeteria scene was the mom showing how much her kids over exaggerate the "problem". At least that's what I got from it. ;)
eve hart smith - I think you have to look at the JC Penney back-to-school commercials overall--they are about expressing your personal style, not meeting someone's expectations. And anyway, who actually thinks Arizona jeans are on some fashionista's A-list? I think the commercial is kind of tongue-in-cheek when it points out that the mom doesn't actually know what is stylish, but she can still rely on Penney's for great clothes. That one little line in the commercial was definitely stupid and irrelevant but also insignificant.
jessica huisman patton - This is the point of every commercial ever made. Your teeth aren't white so use this toothpaste or no one will kiss you, your boobs aren't big enough so buy this bra and men will like you, you smell bad so use our body wash and girls will fall all over you. (Eye roll.)
kiera thomsen - If that's their message, then it's subtle. I got made fun of for wearing not cool clothes, scrawny legs and chewing my gum wrong. Today it's called bullying. I just call it part of growing up. Let's not make a big deal out of nothing and teach our kids to be emotionally strong.
lacey waltke - No I think they are trying to make their stuff popular not the kids. Duh they are trying to get sales.
dalma heath - Sound like they are trying to sell reasonably priced jeans to school kids. There are not designer jeans - just plain old everyday jeans. If anything, it sends the message that you can be cool even if you don't spend $200 on a pair of Jeans. Good advertisement.
angela demelo - Its just a commercial. I don't see the big whoop-la. I hear that same line from my kids all the time, and I used to say it as a teenager, "but mom I HAVE to have that brand, or that particular pair of pants, etc" Hopefully we are teaching our children in the home about self-esteem and personal worth so a commercial like this (which I really don't see is a big deal) wont affect or "damage" them.
don ward - Some people need to get a life. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this ad. My dad used to tell me if you are looking to be offended, you will be offended. These people are obviously looking to be offended.
keri romine - I am seriously so sick of the whining over every little commercial, or story that someone doesn't like. We are making our kids out to be victims all the time. Instead we should be teaching our kids to work hard, and be good decent individuals. Maybe they will have a chance in this world and not expect to have everything handed to them.
matt maestas - People are waaaayyyyy to sensitve. Can you imagine how are next generation is going to be, being raised to be offended by EVERYTHING!!!
jill prettyman davis - Stupid!! There are more important things to worry about than a dumb commercial!
jennifer petty murdock - It may or may not . This kind of stuff has existed way before this commercial. Plus any cool kid knows that Arizona jeans aren't even cool. BAH! :P
marc fisher - Ha, I said the same thing, to my wife, about a few other back to school commercials last week. I didn't see this one, but others made me feel like they were putting the message that if you didn't dress the right way you weren't going to be "cool" or get in the right "click". I thought it was horrible that they would send that type of message.
todd parrish schulthies - If you dress silly, people will make fun of you. It was true in the sixties, seventies, and eighties. It is probably true now.
randy burrell - Wow. I don't see where it sends any message different than what has been reality for decades. People need to lighten up. Jeesh
aubree walker shelley - Reason number ___ to be glad we don't have a TV
kristen webster - People have way too much time on their hands to always look for the bad in everything. I am sure that was not what jcp was trying to do.
