- 2 people were taken to the hospital in serious condition after a Trax train collided with a tru (Type: photo | Published: 2013-11-24T04:48:35+0000)
KSL 5 TV: 2 people were taken to the hospital in serious condition after a Trax train collided with a truck. More details tonight on KSL 5 TV at 10PM.Comments:
robert kaufman - I hate it when KSL says "a train collided with a truck". The truck collided with the train. Unless the crossbuck signal failed which I doubt.
lorie skeem - Why oh why do these people not look both ways?
laura mason - I think people that get hit by a train and are lucky enough to survive should be subject to a mental health evaluation and their license revoked for 5 years. Something to weed out the ignorant drivers one by one.
ben jensen - This just in: Trains can't swerve. Tune in at 10 for more breaking news: the sky is blue.
kathryn wilkinson mckenzie - I hate driving near Trax. For infrequent visitors to SL it can be very confusing. What signal do I follow, can I turn or not, where is the train coming from? I purposely plan my route to avoid having to deal with the trains. That being said, there are way too many accidents involving trains, and I have not heard once the engineer to be at fault. Be alert people!
britney reeves hedin - Prayers for those injured. My husband and I were almost in this situation once. We were in a '94 Honda Civic and were at a red light for several minutes with no cars around. We thought maybe the signal was broken so my husband started turning left and then BOOM there was a Trax train! We did collide but just sides and we walked away as did those riding. It was an error on our part, but we really had no idea it was coming until it was too late and we shouldn't have second guessed the signal. I guess my point is, stop judging people for making mistakes because we ALL have and let's all just learn a lesson and hope everyone is ok.
lorie skeem - @ Michael Wiggin it's not the trains! It is the drivers! Please don't blame it on the non-thinking thing! DUH!
megan whearley - this is unfortunate and i hope everyone is ok, but let this be a lesson.... watch traffic signals!!! they are there to help
bonnie shuman - You can never pay too much attention when driving. Pedestrians need to pay more attention too!
travis pavich - Hey Michael Wiggin, are you that stupid? It's not Utah's fault or the engineers fault. The 16 year old tried a U turn on a red light. It's sad. 99% of these accidents are the cars fault. You can't beat a train. Period. Maybe your comment should be Utah's idiot drivers strike again. I have a lot of friends and family from out of state. They come here and are scared to death to drive. I go there and start thinking, god I wish people in Utah would drive this way.
luke ray - C'mon people! It's not that difficult!
karen douglass hall - I know we all like pointing fingers and saying who's to blame and how drivers are stupid and who could have done what to prevent it, but the fact remains that there are 2 people in serious condition in the hospital. I think it might be a more constructive idea to send our positive thoughts and prayers to these two and their families.
malarie j aguilar - Not only that they have horns n things I know they use em so why not pay attention to the signals and things
clint gardner - They should have to pay for damages to the train as well as get a citation. This crap has got to stop as there's no freaking excuse.
heather-john nielsen - SERIOUSLY? When are people going to get a clue! You will NEVER win against a train!
travis pavich - Some people are idiots, expecting the train to stop, or thinking I can beat it. I hope everybody is ok, but instead of being afraid to get on trax, how about we figure some way to get these cars to realize their no match for the train. I feel safer on trax then I do in my car.
maribeth merton - Thank goodness someone with an ounce of human decency spoke up. It really doesn't matter how or why...people got HURT! Accidents happen. I just pray it never happens to all of you so quick to judge...or God forbid, anyone in YOUR family. Thank you Britney Reeves Hedin for having the gumption and decency to speak against the judgement squad calling for the death penalty. I, too, will join in praying for all those injured.
ard wood - If course it was the trains fault it's Utah worst drivers ever totally oblivious
eithan smalley - New slogan for trax,
" weeding out stupid people from day one"
michael wiggin - Utah's killer trains strike again!
rachel reed givens - Trains were the FIRST form of mass transit, they have been around since 1804 and yet people still can not figure out that a train can not stop quickly! Dumb drivers!!!!!!!!

KSL 5 TV: BREAKING: South Jordan police say a shooting that left a 15 and 12 year old dead in Daybreak last week - was a murder suicide.Comments:
lynn homer - Being a gun owner, and reading these post troubles me that the topic is all about the guns. We as a society need to be more sympathetic to the fact two young kids are gone. The reasons behind what happened are not clear, but parents when you see your child is troubled and depressed do something. Get help for them before it ever gets this far. As for guns in the house, when will people realize that guns shiuld be locked up. Todays society isn't the same as the society we grew up in. I am a firm believer in the statement, Guns don't kill people, people do. However we need to be responsible and not give someone the means.
pam rodriguez norton - Two mamas lost there babies my heart breaks for them
breanna hunsaker - It's another sad story of an irresponsible gun owner... I know guns don't kill people people with guns do but how many child deaths does there have to be before people start being responsible? Lock your guns up lock them up separately from the amo... it's not that hard
nina olson - Everyone needs to STOP this pointing fingers! THEY were both KIDS. It's tragic and they still had a mom, dad and siblings
nicole cranor wong - But lets all focus on the gun laws instead of MENTAL HEALTH!!!! Things like this can be prevented. I'm so sorry for their families and friends.
cristina yoder-barnes - Irresponsible gun owners....I'm sure the kids didn't own the gun...what about kids that do drugs...do we blame the irresponsible drug owners....people need to slow down a bit and quite blaming objects...where is the communication...come to my house my kids talk to us about everything....no joke ask the Other ten that are there every night...
blaise glaze - The kid had the Desire to seek out a gun, to do harm, to kill himself. So he had access to a gun... The gun didn't give this kid the desire to be bad.
sabrina mitchell - So sad that this happened down the street in my Neighborhood, but I also have to be honest. How in the first place were they able to get the gun? Irresponsible Parents not locking these guns away or the key not hidden properly? It happened and now we can't change it. Still my prayers go out to the Families. :(
kathy parsons hohosh - People are so judgemental, this is a tragedy that has affected 2 families that are probably already suffering & going through there own personal hells, along with their close friends. Instead of being quick to condemn & criticize, people should be reaching out to help them deal with their loss. I pray for the families and friends of these 2 young men to have the strength to get through this and for more compassion from others.
james roth - No Mary guns don't kill people not sure where or what part of the story said "A gun just happen to kill someone" are their idiots that don't take care of their guns YES. Can a gun really just kill someone NO!!! Come on, people die for all kinds of reasons. You can't outlaw "anything and everything" let's talk about how many peoples lives have been saved because they had a gun.
Guns don't kill people unfortunately people kill people.
stephanie healy almanza - As I have heard these poor kids were playing Russian roulette and didn't think a round was in the chamber. There was. The other kid that shot the first round felt so guilty that he turned the gun on himself. Heart breaking. My son was a friend of one of the boys.
noah case - Reading all these posts about kids have access to weapons and the adult blame game. Guns dont kill people. People kill people. Kids usually have reasons. The question is why and solving for that. Guns, knives, and weapons are and will always be available. Laws and blame are easy escapes. Understanding the erosion of societal values and erroded homes and moral values. Those are at the root.
nick strandgard - Prayers are with them and their families
marilyn mauerman - We don't know if there was an accident and the other was just a scared little kid and didn't think anyone would believe him. We just don't know. So everyone just STOP. Say a prayer for their families.
keith hamblin - My guess would be that the 12-year-old was shot by accident then the 15-year-old shot himself because he couldn't face what he had done. No matter the exact scenario, guns are not at fault.
miguel martinez - How about charging the irresponsible gun owner?
judy storer mccrory - Many people are just too quick to make a rush to judgment on this issue or others like it. The facts have not been exposed. Things are not as they seem on the surface. People need to be careful what they imply through their outspoken opinions because this could happen to anyone. These families are all in crisis. Let's try to show some compassion.
dal jorgenson - Kids way young do suicide eight years and up. Hugsforlife Suicideprevention
zach johnson - Why are you all assuming that he got the gun because of an "irresponsible gun owner"? There is such thing as a black market.
richard baraki - Kids have to much access to weapons
jennifer alshemary - That's so sad and awful.

KSL 5 TV: Should cell phone calls be allowed on planes?
Yes. Stay Connected. http://wedgi.es/17UcGu9
No. Too much noise. http://wedgi.es/1h78Ea0Comments:
jonathan goff - I don't want to hear other people's drama.
ryan phelps - Text only. Don't want some gabber while I'm trying to sleep.
donna everett - No can you imagine we would have " plane rage " there will always be loud talkers and to much talkers !!
bobbie murphy - No... We have to wear headphones when watching movies to help keep flight calm and quiet... Who wants to hear all the drama from phone calls not me... And I definitely don't want to risk having my children hear things they shouldn't!
emily bryn williams - No. But Texting would be reasonable
jana waldron taylor - No. I personally don't want to sit next to someone ("next to" meaning practically on each other's laps) and listen to them loudly chat about all their personal problems or even worse their mindless chitchat with their girlfriend.
lex scott - Raise your hand if your cell has ever even had the ability to call at 30k feet. Anyone? Oh wait there are no towers in the sky.
cheryl adams - NO!!!!!!!!!! I travel 3 out of 4 weeks in a month and I do NOT want to have to listen to the drama, the work junk, the garbage. It is OK to shut off the phone for a flight. If it's that important to be "in touch" sign into the carrier's internet and text or instant message! NO NO NO!!!!
marci landon - No. I really don't want to listen to my seatmate's conversation.
stephanie mccauley - Yes unless someone is making a phone call. I think that would be rude to the other people on the plane. I know I don't want to listen to the guys conversation 3 rows behind me.
tammy clifford larsen - No, too disruptive. I cannot abide hearing others cell conversations.
daniel ettinger - I see no reason not to allow them. A: There has never been any evidence found cellphones cause any interference with airliner systems. B: Airphones have been available for decades. C: Good luck maintaining connection while in flight.
lex scott - AT&T has zero bars at 30k feet
lex scott - I know that they do not cause interference with the plane. I was trying to explain why they were banned. They were banned because people thought they caused interference with planes. They don't. Most people are just worried that people will just sit and talk on their cell phones the whole flight, like all societal norms will just go out the window. Ps. Last time I flew there were no bars when I was in the sky. I doubt that people will even get service that high
carolyn taylor - No. Too much noise!
ronda ewing - I'm addicted to my phone....and I say NO!
spencer curtis - I enjoy them while I'm in the bathroom and people are pooping and talking on the phone. Why not EVERYWHERE?
tonga titcomb - No, no and many more NO's. It is bad enough just being in a store with those people that think that all of us want to be a part of their conversation so they talk LOUD and LOUDER as the conversation goes on. Heaven help us in being that close to a person on a plane.
travis erickson - The government should have NO say in this matter. Airlines are private coorperations, they should make the decision
phill supita - I would rather repeatedly jab a fork into my eye than have to sit next to someone talking on their cell phone on the plane.
gabrielle oviatt - As a fight attendant I say no because it's a small tube. It would get so loud with everyone on the phone

cody kubota - It blew a beer bottle off my patio table! Keep us in your prayers! #windageddon
manda pullen - The wind has been clam in East Layton for a while, thank goodness. It was getting crazy out there.
jennifer musselman heath - We had to rescue our trampoline earlier. It went flying. Wind still has me awake here in Ogden. I keep hearing stuff banging around out there. Our poor old house is falling apart!
jen anderson - Well it's got downright scary in Logan.
james w. anderson - Saw absolutely nothing at all down here, about 10pm we saw a plump gibbous moon, and have had only light rain at times today, absolutely calm in Provo all day and even now it's calm.
camille danielson - I'm in northern utah county and have been from American fiork/lehi to eagle mtn/saratoga springs. I didn't notice much wind at all. Did you mean to say northern utah county or northern salt lake, weber or davis county? It's still pretty calm out there right now.
amberlyn hallett - It is rattling my dorm windows up here in Ogden. Walking out of class was like walking into a snownado!!
rachel whiskey yee - Hope people get their power back on soon! It's cold out!
amber erdmann - Seems to have quieted down a bit in Lehi, now. Wind was blowing a little fierce a few minutes ago.
kristen elizabeth shupp - Windy here in Roy but power is still on
jodi swager - Cache valley didn't get it bad...yet at least. Maybe it doesn't know how to climb the mountains to get to us. Lol
susan johnson cox - Sunset still windy out, still hear the doors and windows shaking. Are we going to wake up to snow?
chandra rose - There was an arc light that fell on 28th and Washington and a sign that blew apart was all across the road on 30th and Washington. It was crazy driving. Most of the street lights were out also.
susan anderson garcia - Still very strong here on U campus.
heidi putman - Crystal Volpi, glad she is ok
nelson villegas - #kslam did you mean northern Utah county or northern Utah counties?
crystal volpi gavin - Daughter was in a rollover accident tonight due to debris flying onto highway 89 luckily she was not harmed.
julie ovard christofferson - Nothing at Cedar Hills
mea r harris - Just drove from Provo to Logan and dang the wind made for scary freeway driving from bountiful to Willard. Good luck to the I-15 semi parking lot. Hope they are able to get going soon.

sally jo talbot mcnicol - Diagnosed with breast cancer 2012 stage 2....after chemo and radiation.....I kicked cancers BUTT! (0;
angela york - When challenger exploded. I was in Florida at the time in 3rd grade. I remember watching my teachers cry as we looked at the smoke in the sky. I learned that my teachers were not super human because of their tears and because a former teacher died in the challenger. I also learned that it does not take super human people to do amazing things. Only average people doing what they love despite the sacrifice.
phillip wright - @Chandra... SPACE BAR!
angela perronne griffin - Jan 28 1986 when the Challenger space shuttle exploded. Sad day
dave soutter - I was only 5 when JFK died, and I do remember it. Growing up in the 60s, the Beatles were huge and I was a fan and was sad when they broke up in 1970.. When John Lennon was killed in 1980, I recall hearing the news on my car radio. And at that point, I knew the Beatles could never unite.
dusty averett - Jim Jones/Challenger/Princess Dianna/ 9-11 all defining moments in my life
phillip wright - Defining moment of my generation... Miley Cyrus- Wrecking Ball. She just speaks to us. She stands for so many good things! Feminisim, Equality, Twerking. OMG! Such a hero!
nina pettit morse - Challenger explosion, 9/11, first black president. And hopefully soon, first female president.
sally jo talbot mcnicol - Oh....It made me stronger and more companionate <3
jessica bennett-anderson - 9/11 I was 16. I watched it live in school that day. We had no classes. Just sat, stared, cried, and made phone calls.
travis pavich - I am 35, so I wasn't around when JFK was assassination. But 2 defining moments stick to me. The Challenger mishap, and 9-11. Two things that I will never forget.
thane heiser - 50 years ago...watching my dad glued to the t.v. Stunned by the assassination of J.F.K.
karen fuller - For me, it was 9/11. I was 17, just starting my first class of the day in high school. People were talking about an explosion and a bomb. I didn't understand what the chatter was, another teacher had kept coming into our class saying another plane hit, towers were collapsing, etc. It wasn't until later that day that my last class had permission to watch the live coverage that what was happening in New York started to sink in,
cheryl lyn carreau - Cabage pach kids and no I never got one
stan kano - A defining moment for me was the assassination of John F.Kennedy. I believe I was 10 and I felt like Arthur when Camelot fell and innocence fell with it.
albert rojero - When I lost my virginity
betty mckenna - This may sound silly! But it was the day Elvis Presley died. It taught me that making bad choices was not for me. That money can not buy happiness. And that no matter who we are, we all die some day!
brandon seibold - 2 girls 1 cup. Dennis Nalley Brett Kelez-Baird
angela gingerich brown - For me it was 9/11. I was a freshman in college. I still remember that day and the weeks that followed like it was yesterday. Sometimes I still think of America in terms of before and after 9/11. I think it has made me more aware of the world.
rochelle dolim - Man's first walk on the moon and seeing what our planet looks like from there.
jen anderson - 9/11- i developed such empathy and compassion for complete strangers and felt united with our Country and each citizen for the first time in my life.

KSL 5 TV: SEVERE WEATHER: We've tracked wind gusts as high as 78 mph in Farmington, 64 mph in Centerville and 61 mph in Bountiful in the KSL Weather Center. Make sure you get your garbage cans and patio furniture secured -- and tonight at 10, Kevin Eubank will tell where the storm is expected to intensify overnight.Comments:
lynnette h chadwick - Please bring in your animals too. Neighbors not home & poor little dogs are outside.
cory thompson - KSL needs to do a story asking the power companies why it is they don't bury the power lines in this state like they do in other states. With the wind as frequent as it is in this state, seems it would be common sense to put the power lines underground. I bet these folks at the power company are getting pretty disgusted having to run out every five seconds because of power outages and, this isn't to mention how much danger their lives are being put in having to mess with this crap in these winds.
larry montoya - Anybody wanna fly kites?
barbara gustaveson - In Farmington the wind is so strong I can feel my house shake.
stephanie saffell-wilkinson - Love to know what the winds are on east bench of North ogden the wind is ridiculous up here.
jessica moffitt - My house is also shaking from the wind in ogden.

corinne oliverson - I hope we all will have better weather tomorrow.
nikki davidson wicks - The gusts come and go in Layton now. It was really windy for a few hours.

KSL 5 TV: SEVERE WEATHER: Winds as high as 60 miles per hour are hitting Bountiful right now -- and they are expected to pick up throughout the night. Everything from rain, snow and powerful winds are picking up all over the state. Devon Dolan KSL and Kevin Eubank have what you need to know at 5 p.m. on KSL.Comments:
becky berlage palo - Any present or future airport closings/delays?
sarah hansen southerland - Sideways snow in Bountiful.
sandra woodring adams - It's the state football championship weekend...Desert Hills (St. George) vs. Pineview (St. George). Why don't you report how much the two So. Utah teams are unprepared for this weather, as buses full of our teams, their families, several hundred friends from each team driving their own cars and heaven knows who else are on their way up there. Our kids don't know how to drive in that weather. Same thing happened last year with the Hurricane High School game up there. I called and complained about not changing the venue and was told that television contracts trumped all, including the safety of our kids. If anyone dies on the way back, maybe a lawsuit will change some priorities. (Can you tell how disgusted I am?)
shauntelle maddock stephenson - Farmington has been ugly for a few hours now. Our neighborhood is on the Farmington/Centerville border and windy to begin with, but today is awful.
lynn homer - Centerville is a joy right now. Garbage cans are gone. Hope this isn't a replay of a couple of years ago
mike finnegan - Sounds like Sandra snorted a foxtail. So tell me why that's the weather department's fault again?
chrystal fabian - I was getting hardcore leaf smacked leaving work today :(
connie brown - Glad I'm in Star Valley!
tammy smith wandell - South Weber is blowing like crazy!
cheyenne thayer-scott - garbage cans, grills and many other things flying around where i live in Centerville. its been crazy for hours
eddie keough - Everything's fine in Layton
haylee hall reichard - Walking on Weber campus I was just about blown over, it's crazy out there!!
andrea brown pope - Auntie Em! It's crazy out there!
natalie welch holt - The wind is starting to get stong on leeds.
cindy ogilvie miska - Blowing in West Jordan
christopher mcgee - Glad I took the train!
randy reed - Not here in Boring Old Crap George.
natacha ruth musser - I live in Riverdale. It is very cold outside.
bill marsh - very strong winds here in nogden
michelle clay bednarik - And I got nothin'
ginamarie montano rees - NE Layton off 89 and 193 is bad. sideways snow, anything not tied down is moving or gone, trash blowing around. Trees looking iffy...

steve foster - He needs till the 3rd to delete files and shred paperwork.
corbyn stincelli - He had to swallow his pride
mary taylor - I hate the attitude in the country, and I am even more disappointed in the ATTITUDE right here in Utah. Swallow went through an FBI investigation, HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING WRONG. He was investigated by the Utah Board ASSC. An he HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING WRONG. Utah legislature has spent well over a1 Million dollars and still have not shown any wrong doing. I call this a Witch Hunt. I AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE PEOPLE WHO COMMENT ON THIS HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF OF ANY KIND THAT HE DID ANYTHING. So much for innocent till proven guilty. Not proud of Utah on this one.
steve foster - It was a sad day in Utah when people blindly elected a criminal because of a letter next to his name on the ballot. The day a corrupt politician steps down is not a sad day.
matt caldwell - It's hard to have proof when his office knowingly deleted everything to help cover it up. He did not cooperate and did everything he could to cover it up. He's clearly corrupt and crooked
tj cate - Congratulations to the politically motivated legislature who managed to harass and badger a man, who had been cleared by federal investigators, to the point that he finally gave up. This whole mess is a huge black eye for politics in Utah.
marianne hunter - A good reason not to vote straight ticket.
jenny hardy hoopiiaina - Its great he is resigning but crap that you interrupted a great Dr. Phil just to hear more bull crap from him! You could have simply let us know with a breaking news across the screen and kept Dr Phil on.
lisa pearson orwin - Why wait till then? Documents to get rid of? End of the payroll cycle? He needs to leave now!
charles uibel - Could any of the other elected officials have withstood this battering? Could Rebecca D. Lockhart? Let's see. He was convicted of nothing.
lisa h. smith - CAn't say I blame the poor guy... good grief.
julie dew price - I can't help but wonder how many people rejoicing in this really know what Swallow is accused of. The only thing I really know is he was accused by a convict of taking advantage of his hospitality by ordering seven dollar bottles of water. So how many of you really know the facts or how many are just caught up in the witch hunt? I don't know the facts but I am not the ones rejoicing.
mike-kim long - Since this is politics we will never really know the whole truth. He resigned so that we would not know but so far they have three confirmed campaign violations. But all my computers are either broken, lost or stolen and I can't prove anything because somehow all my files are also missing and I have no idea how that happened (that is sarcasm in case you do not recognize it).
thelma kesl - I can't help but feel he was railroaded.
deloy mecham - Sorry to hear now. I wished. They would look that close. To other's
jenny scilley westbroek - Big surprise slime ball!
riley player - People confuse the court of law with public opinion. If a rapist gets acquitted on a technicality does that mean you would hire him and let him date your daughter? Didn't think so. Works the same here. He might not get charged but we don't have to give him our trust.
carole wittle murnin - He must be waiting to get another paycheck before he resigns.
james bybee - What is a disgrace is the fact that people made up false accusations against him because their candidate didn't win.
sara steen orahood - It's about time !!!
jenny hardy hoopiiaina - @ Stacee Sweetwater Clayton It was about a friends cousins son who was shot. So it was "real" and no I don't normally watch it but wanted to as she asked us to support them by watching it and none of us were able to because of the "breaking news"
- If you have an iPhone, have you downloaded the new iOS 7? Coming up on the Browser 5.0 at 12:30 (Type: photo | Published: 2013-09-19T16:01:21+0000)
KSL 5 TV: If you have an iPhone, have you downloaded the new iOS 7? Coming up on the Browser 5.0 at 12:30 we will have some tips and tricks about using the new system. Tell us what you like, or really don't like, and we may use your comment on air.Comments:
jason olsen - Dislikes:
The Google Translate app doesn't like iOS 7. It crashes every time I open it.
I miss being able to swipe on emails to delete them.
laura garcia-archuleta - I still haven't got my update, I've even tried doing it manually and it says software up to date. I've also turned it on and off several times, still nothing! Lol
andrea da silva - I don't like the cheesy and childish new look of the icons. I like new features, such as the ability to block callers. I HATE the new calendar layout. I use the able to view my events by the week, in one seeing, but now I have to select individual days and scroll trough the whole day to the times I have scheduled.
patrick welch - I like it! I feel like I got a new phone without having to pay a dime!
rachel turnbow kieran - You can tell Steve Jobs wasn't involved in the look. The operating system has some cool features, but the aesthetic has lost some of it's distinct apple edginess.
sara freestone miles - I hate the way it looks! The app icons are cartoony, the font is too skinny, and the whole thing has a bare-bones look to it. There are some new features which are nice, but the interface just feels cheap to me.
lissa hoffman pedersen - Anybody know how to close the apps now?
robert n melissa allen - I don't like CrApple products
eva-marie stanger - Also I am loving iTunes Radio, especially that when you leave a wifi area, it pauses and asks if you'd like to continue streaming via cellular. Very wise about data-usage.
The more i use my phone/iPad the more I like the update.
justin scott - Seems to me that the new OS drains my battery a lot faster. Anyone else seeing that problem?
janet winslow ortgiesen - I hate the new colors
bryan sandoval - Looks way to cartoonie if that's a word.
allen crist - Wow, did Fisher Price write that UI?
sharlisha ryan bird - I love everything about it
nathan dark - Michael - your in a fantasy world if you think the lowly nexus 4 is better than the iPhone 5. I feel bad for you that you have to come on here and start calling people names to make yourself feel cool. Getting this worked up over a phone is hilarious.
ruth bradshaw - I DON'T like the new format for the calendar. Can't read it as easy as before. What happened to "if it ain't broken, don't fix it!!"
kevin frith - i like ios 7 better. things are easier to look at now.
devin elisa caldwell - The best part of IOS7 is that it doesn't automatically open a message you're ignoring when you click on messages
treena rodgers seabolt - Can't! Not enough memory and I'd have to delete all my apps and pics to have enough. :(
bobby hale - I've liked it so far. The look isn't my favorite, but the change is fun. Some small details are making a huge difference, like being able to dismiss notifications that come down from the top of the screen, and putting the newsstand app in a folder.
By the way, you can turn off the battery-life-reducing 3D effect on your home screen. Settings>General>Accessibility>Reduce motion.
jitney sawyer - It's like having a new phone but you didn't have to pay for it!
- What excuses have you heard to NOT wear your seat belt?

KSL 5 TV: What excuses have you heard to NOT wear your seat belt? Tell us here and watch for your comments at 6 on KSL in an interactive story. We'll show you why your airbag is never enough to protect you.Comments:
amy collier - I can't believe there are still people who don't wear them.
chris susov - I ride a motorcycle. What's a seat belt?
april workman - People have their reasons for not wearing their seatbelts. I can't go workout mine. I take care of a 23 year old autistic young man pushing 400lbs. He absolutely cannot wear a seat belt. He's too big. I have friends whom have had loved ones decapitated by their seat belt during a car accident. The surviving relatives refuse to wear seat belts. I believe everyone should wear them, especially children. The thing I absolutely do Not agree with is our government telling us we have to. It should be the choice of the individual over the age of 18. Handing out fines to those old enough to choose is wasting time and resources. There are real crimes happening, and that is what should be focused on. Not ticketing an adult that chooses not to wear a seat belt.
kaleb kunzler - In a side impact incident, your seatbelt could kill you.
shandra mueller - It's uncomfortable...because apparently months in the hospital would be more comfortable than a seat belt.
christopher mcgee - YOLO <--- anybody who says that, probably shouldn't wear a seatbelt and let natural selection take it's course.
jeff murphy - i think people should not be forced to wear a seatbelt. It defeats natural selection.
mike carlson - It chafes my nipples
jodi evans - There is no excuse! It's like part of getting dressed....every time you fasten your seat belt you are telling loved ones that you love them!
brenda hamblin matthews - I won't move the car unless all seat bealts are on! It's always been a rule and will continue to be.
nicole kelly - I wear mine. But my fiancee had a few friends trapped in the car because of seat belt malfunctioned and died. Regardless if your an adult you should freedom to choose if you want to wear or not. Just like you have freedom to choose to DNR!
megan lehman lewis - There is no excuse.
sharon woirhaye webb - I was in a car accident on Mother's day. They said the only thing that saved my life was wearing my seatbelt.
carol lynn metcalf - If seat belts are so necessary, why not in busses and tracks?
debra johnson leeflang - There are no excuses in my car.
brian wood - You will get out of the care fast when the car ejects you Karen
andrew roo collett - I was just involved in an accident this afternoon at high speeds, where i am sure the seat belt and air bags played a big part in me coming away with no injury.
tiana hill peters - The seat belt is the VERY first thing I put on when I get into a car. It doesn't matter if I am the one driving or the passenger. I hit a deer head on going 65 miles an hour. My car was totaled, the hood flipped up and hit the windshield but both me and my friend walked away without even a scratch or bruise because we were wearing our seat belts.
linda lee stradley - Kaleb Kunsler, PISH POSH!!! I was hit by a 3/4 ton truck two years ago, while being a passenger in the front seat of a Toyota Avalon (note the size ratio difference). The truck hit my door at about 40 mph. It was the roller coaster ride from Hell! I should have flown into my husband, who was driving, and since we are the same height while sitting down, we would likely have had a cranial collision, resulting in either one or two fatalities. We were BOTH wearing our seat belts (I promised him when we were courting that the ONLY thing I would EVER nag him about was to wear his seat belt). He was uninjured, and I had a broken clavicle, bruised ribs and tissue damage---all survivable and repairable. You are OUT TO LUNCH! The only time a seat belt won't do any good for you is if you are driving and something falls on you from above. THEN it is your time to go, IF you have done ALL you can to protect yourself from harm.
jessica anderson - A seat belt killed my brother. I have my moments that tell me to wear one and there are a lot of times where I don't.
ralinda bauer seegmiller - My personal favorite is...I know someone who was in crash and if they would have been wearing their seatbelt they would have died. What I hear... Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!
- BREAKING: Bomb threats called into two pharmacies in Provo and a Walmart in Logan. The business (Type: status | Published: 2013-09-18T19:36:26+0000)
KSL 5 TV: BREAKING: Bomb threats called into two pharmacies in Provo and a Walmart in Logan. The businesses are being evacuated. We have crews en route and will have an update soon.Comments:
meagen budish jenkins - Me and my kids where there! Had no idea what was going on. But they handled the evacuation very well! People got out in an orderly fashion. So crazy and thankful that nothing has happened.
daren hilton - What is this world coming to????
matthew luke webster - no need to freak the geek out, yes there are sick people out there but people are acting like they shouldn't go outside. Guess what, for all of time there has been sick people, Cain and Able? You can't freak out because of a few sick-o's in a world of 7 billion people
jd keller - Sounds like someone got denied their narcotics lol
andrew mccullough - Good idea,. Send crews wherever you think there is a bomb. I think I will go the other way.
andrea nicoll wilson - Sounds like someone is bored and needs a job...and a life.
ksl 5 tv - UPDATE: Provo bomb squad cleared both buildings. Provo police say to here have been reports that American Fork and Springville Walgreens were called with threats as well as stores in Virginia, Vermont, Maine and Georgia.
stephanie booth landon - Walmart just announced that they wanted to carry more "made in America," wonder if that is why.
brett gray - I believe east Layton Walmart as well. Totally evacuated and police everywhere
heather schmidt wood - We have a dangerous profession!! Rich Carissa Jenny EllaRae Jenni Jd Rachael
holly spackman parslow - Which Wal-Mart? North or south?
melanie drexel - I hope the jerks who did this get bad karma their way.
jake sever - Blame Grand Theft Auto V
lisa-marie smith - This is so rediculous. When those reponsible r caught they should get a year hard labor. Old school style sledge hammering rocks!!!
jonathan goff - Bomb threats never end in explosions. If people were going to bomb a place they are just going to do it without telling some one first. The people that do this are just getting off on the confusion this is causing.
trisha merritt price - Bomb threats at walgreens? It kind of makes me chuckle. I feel bad for the employees tho. That would be scary.
tyson gardner - What's wrong with people these days! Seriously fed-up!!
sarra nielson - It's not safe to go anywhere anymore! What a sad country.
rachel ross kingston - I tried going that way at 1:00 and traffic was crazy. Cops everywhere and entrances were blocked.
john riding - I bet it was at a walgreens !!!!!!! The way they treat the customer i could see this happening to them but walmart ??? WTH ??
zachary james williams - And this is why they track our phone calls. Looking forward to the 10oclock news about who got caught
- Will you be getting your latte elsewhere? Starbucks is "respectfully requesting" that gun owner (Type: photo | Published: 2013-09-18T16:03:48+0000)
KSL 5 TV: Will you be getting your latte elsewhere? Starbucks is "respectfully requesting" that gun owners leave their weapons outside their stores. Coming up on the Browser 5.0 at 12:30 we will look why the chain is making the request, and at how people are reacting. Tell us what you think and we may use your comment on air.Comments:
val jo hess sansevero - I wonder if that includes police officer, I understand they drink a lot of coffee ?
susan worthen flores - They are asking to not bring them into the stores but they also will not ask you to leave if you have it. However those who carry concealed if you are doing it right they will never know you have it anyway.
jeffrey luck - I own a gun store that is across the street from a Starbucks in Draper.
We used to spend a lot of money in there daily.
We supported them on the days that there were calls for boycotts.
I personally am a gold card holder.
They are a business that can choose their own policies. I as a citizen can now choose to spend my money else where. Sorry Starbucks but your policies affect our choices.
All the crew at Darkside!
stacie hogan - Man people are dumb... all this is going to do is basically put up a big flag to criminals saying "there are no guns in here, we are open for robbery or a shooting spree". I am not a coffee drinker but I would not support any business that doesn't support the second amendment. Not that it matters as I have my ccw and you would have to search me to find it. And good luck with that
lisa james - Yeah, because gun-free zones have helped so many people...smh.
nicholas ill - I'm going to "respectfully disregard" their request and continue concealing in their stores. I understand and respect their right to ask me to leave my gun in my car, and fully expect them to respect my right to protect myself regardless of where I am.
bobbi abplanalp - Good luck defending yourself/family with your double soy latte and bran muffin, I'll be down the street enjoying my Maverick coffee and my right to bear arms
janelle maxwell west - Well with all the shooting I can't say I blame them. Besides they are a business and they can refuse anyone.
luke draayer - I didn't put my life on the line as a Marine to give up my 2nd amendment rights. If Howard Schultz wants me to leave my weapon before I come in he can ask me in person instead of putting his barista's in an awkward situation. I guess somebody should educate Howard on the fact that most gun incidents occur in a gun free zones. I guess my gold card can collect dust as I go elsewhere from now on.
amanda putnam - My husband has his concealed weapons permit, and it absolutely makes me feel safer when I know he is carrying his gun!
Isn't it kind of a welcome sign for criminals when a place says "no guns allowed"?
tracy flynn mccormick - @ Mary B... I am a pistol packing grandma of 7! You say that you wouldn't go anywhere that people carry guns.... You would be staying at home and going nowhere then! I pack my gun everywhere I go, especially when my children and grandchildren are with me. Because I value our lives as well as my neighbors.
brian hindberg - Where I'm a concealed firearm permit holder bottom line is you would never no I had it on me anyways if I walked into that crappy coffee shop and if I ever had to brandish it to protect a life in there for some odd reason I think I would get a thank you from the cashier that was being robbed because she gets to go home to her family.. like it or not next time you walk into a store in UT look around 1 out of ever 5 person is carrying a gun and you dont even no it... until they go to save your family from harm then what will your reaction be???????????
stephanie buchholz parker - A business has the right to refuse to serve those with guns and gun owners have the right to take their business elsewhere. However, legal law abiding gun owners are not the problem so all Starbucks has done is tell all the violent criminals where to go to commit a crime without fear of someone taking them out in the process.
matt priest - There are only a select few places where we cannot carry a gun, ( check your state and fed laws) sorry Starbucks your not on that list.
sandra thorson larkin - I'm sure all of the serial shooters will read the sign and decide to take their shooting spree elsewhere :)
tiffany flinders - Sounds about right. They don't support our troops either. I'll stick with local coffee houses!
cathy collard - If their customer has a concealed carry permit there isn't a thing they can do about it. Are they going to frisk people on their way in? Stupid. Just a way to get publicity.
barbara jensen - Starbucks can request whatever they want....but that is not going to stop those people who intend to rob them not do it...I for one support our 2nd amendment, we all have the right to carry a gun. I'm so tired of people thinking when something bad happens lets take guns away, that isn't going to stop crime....it's going to still happen no matter what because that is what criminals do...they brake the law.
jesse bond youngberg - Mary Bilderback, you're a liberal through and through...looking at things as one sided as possible...using that liberal logic that thinks that if you pass a law that somehow criminals will obey it? An oxymoron for sure.
It's offensive to me that you would imply that gun owners would just kill somebody.
... there's a 180 degree difference between your average gun owner and somebody who would slaughter innocent people, and the fact that you would compare the two as being similar offends my very soul.
How much good have responsible gun owners done in this world? Do you remember the story less than a couple years ago about the man with a concealed carry that stopped a knife-wielding lunatic in the Smiths grocery store in Salt Lake? As soon as that gun came out the slashing and cutting stopped immediately...he didn't even have to fire a single shot! It's about preparedness and self defense.
courtney nicole kruse - Mary Bilderback, you are an idiot. You think gun supporters support people and children dying? What kind of sicko are you. I am a concealed carrier and I do it for protection. Protection for myself and others. And just ask all the parents of the Newtown CT victims if they are scared of people. You bet they are. There are some crazy people out there. If one of the teachers had a gun, think of the lives that could have been saved. Guns aren't the problem, people are. It's a tool. Tools are not evil. They can be used for evil, but also for good. You maker sick to my stomach!! Grow up and face reality!!!
jeff s baty - If a person has a concealed weapons permit, they should be able to take that weapon anywhere. What good is to have a concealed weapons permit and not be allowed to wear it?? My 2nd Amendment rights will come first and foremost before any cup of coffee.
- Do you obey the speed limit when driving through rural parts of Utah?
You'll now see higher (Type: photo | Published: 2013-09-17T22:28:28+0000)
KSL 5 TV: Do you obey the speed limit when driving through rural parts of Utah?
You'll now see higher speed limits along Utah Highways, some up to 80 miles per hour.
Coming up on KSL at 5, We'll tell you where the speed limit is changing and tell you why the Utah Department of Transportation is upping the limit.Comments:
veronica robison - Utah drivers are the worst!
kami kapp bost - Oif the idiots doing 55 would move to the right like the law states, less accidents would happen. But when your going 75 and are all of a sudden cut off by an idiot going 55 for no reason, that causes accidents. Slower traffic move to the right.
corey christiansen - I must say if its safe to drive that speed then I see no problem. The autobahn in Germany is one of the safest roads in the world and it has no speed limit. You drive what speed you feel you should.
sarra nielson - Everyone drives 80-90 and if you don't, you will be driven off the road. The killer is those who drive 55 on the freeway. Come on! At least go the speed limit or use your hazards. You are more of a danger.
ryan york - AWESOME! Contrary to what the media may tell you, when the speed limit goes UP, accidents go DOWN! I bet this will save some lives!
erik anderson - No, federal and state studies have consistently shown that the drivers most likely to get into accidents in traffic are those traveling significantly below the average speed. According to research, those driving 10 mph slower than the prevailing speed are more likely to be involved in an accident. That means that if the average speed on an interstate is 70 mph, the person traveling at 60 mph is more likely to be involved in an accident than someone going 70 or even 80 mph. Also the reason speeds are going up is because studies have shown most people will not go faster then about 83mph.
mickey foss - now they can kill each other faster???
steve fisher - I generally stick to 75 in rural areas that are posted 75. There are multiple reasons -
1. No need to worry about a ticket.
2. The more you increase speed the more likely you die in an accident.
3. After 65mph you lose fuel economy, and over 75mph it is even worse. No need to put wear and tear on my car just to save an extra 15 minutes.
rick reid - they found less accidents unless the self appointed speed nazis are in the fast lane
shayne batt - Just please don't go or expect me to go 80 when it's snowing
landon cheeto cheatham - And everyone will still be going 5+ over
erik anderson - Alina the fast lane is for faster flowing traffic. As Posted on I-15 "It's the law Slower traffic keep right" the reason this is a law is because people slowing the whole flow of traffic cause accidents. It dose not say this is not a speeding lane so its OK to pull in this lane and slow faster moving traffic.
hilda cuevas - 80 love it about time
jeanna johnson nichols - Now if we could just get drivers in our state to use the left lane as a passing lane only, we'd be in business.
calindy hayden - We need a speed limit and a minimum! If you can't drive at least 60mph then they shoukdnt be on the highways!
jennifer nielsen - @ Laura, they did test studies and found that death rates were note affected in the test 80 mph zones.
tara gardner - Sweet. Just in time for my road trip to Vegas!
april watt sosa - Yes. Rural cops are the only ones who have given me tickets in the last 5 years.
matthew m canfield - Actually @Jennifer, just came back from California, Utah drivers by FAR are the worst... Way too much tailgating here.
amber arnesen lauber - I will only go a maximum of 5 over the speed limit. It drives me nuts that even when I'm doing 70 in a 65 I get passed like I'm standing still. It also drives me nuts that people treat the left lane (a.k.a. "fast lane") as a speed-limits-don't-apply-to-me lane.
clayton clark - "Speeds that high are NOT good for any vehicle!!! NEVER drive above 75, people!! (Best to stay under 65.) " clearly you have never driven a Porsche
