What is your reaction to the verdict?
(Type: link | Published: 2013-07-14T02:41:23+0000)
[gayle jones] - Nobody wins: a boy lost his life; and, a man has to live with that fact AND try to have normalcy for the rest of his life. There is no "win."
[alexa jones] - Score one for justice.
[jay huff] - Now George Zimmerman should ask for his weapon back and arm himself to the hilt over all the death threats, and he should file lawsuits against the D.O.J. and the media outlets over defamation of character, and I hope he makes millions selling his side of the story.
[lisa horner] - Disgust and disappointment in our justice system.
[jay huff] - Justice prevailed, and the Political and Media witch hunt got slapped back in the face.
[denise holt roddey] - The correct decision was made as per the evidence and testimony given by the various witnesses. Only those in the courtroom heard and saw everything, none of us did. 2 families have been destroyed. We need to hope both sides will now begin to heal and that there will be no riots sponsored by the DOJ and innocent people are hurt.
[pat e yarber] - God does answer prayers. The RIGHT VERDICT was made. He was NEVER guilty.
[jason franks] - There simply wasn't enough proof of murder. I think they got it right with what the prosecution presented.
[dana gonzales] - glad he got off! it was all about race and not what happened!
[taunya klepacki-griffith] - Martin would still be alive if GZ would have listened to police who repeatedly told him to back off and do not approach Martin. Wait for police. It was that simple. Stupid man trying to be Superman when it wasn't needed. Praying for the Martin family.
[cindy smith mosley] - The jury made their decision on what they heard. I watched alot of it but what I heard they made the right decision. Right or wrong it was made. Now it's time to pray for both families.
[doug raines] - Not everything is race, grow up people
[tracey pullum] - I wasnt there. The courts handled it. GZ will never have his life back either way. Nobody "wins".
[stephanie smith bain] - I am so glad an innocent man isn't going to prison. I agree with George . The only reason he was charged was because of politics.
[juli huffman watson] - Verdict is correct...dispatcher told Zimmerman to not follow him so he stopped and then he was attacked. It's tragic, but the Verdict was right.
[ryan taylor] - Only in America can a Hispanic guy kill a black guy and its the white mans fault!
[brian keith bell] - I just saw a comment that zimmerman better watch his back the rest of his life. Now thats why people use stereotypes and racially profile in the first place. Its bad someone lost their life. Seeking revenge and burning down neighborhoods and hating whitey is what keeps racism going. Wow
[frank baker] - @april quarles you are the racist, you ignorant woman.
[ashley taylor] - They didn't prove he had ill will! Even the police detective believes he was telling the truth!
[jamie bedel] - I think it's right.
[phil flip flipper carlin] - The TRUE JUDGE will pass sentence tho we were to blind to see.
[doug raines] - This shouldn't have been on TV this happens everywhere
[craig risner] - Why does it have to be about a BLACK kid n not just a kid! The problem with this country is everything has to be black or white!
[earline roy parmer] - I live close by and this was the greatest verdict that could have ever happened.
[shavonda jones] - As a mother of a teenager it hurts
[jennifer falkenbach hewson] - Oh, and it WAS ALL ABOUT RACE. I don't care who says it wasn't!!! But here's the funny part...why are they saying Black and white?? Zimmerman is Hispanic, NOT white!!
[missy rawson] - Justice was most definately served. Just because he was 17 didn't make him innocent. It's about time people did their civic duty based on the evidence instead of race.
[tammie victory] - It's HORRIBLE! But I'm not shocked. Add Zimmerman to the list. Casey Anthony for example.
[elaine bowman] - not surprised.. they let Casey Anthony get away with murder, what makes Zimmerman any different..
[lisa dotson] - If a man follows someone in his truck whom he deems suspicious, calls 911 and is instructed not to follow the person but continues to do so, then confronts that person and ends up shooting and killing that person, that is 2nd degree murder. He deliberately played rent a cop against a perceived threat. And the teen lost and so did justice!
[mike veto burls] - If he would have stopped following him this would not have happened period! Not a black and white thing a right and wrong thing!
[ellen woodard murphy] - No one will know what really happened.. Two families lives have been destroyed.. Let's not make this a race issue. Praying for both families..
[juanita moses-mcquay] - Disappointed! But I know that God will have the final say in this matter. Then justice will be served....I guess George was the only one who had a right to "Stand his Ground" Praying for the Martin family.
[chelsea raymer] - Justice prevailed.
[nathaniel m harrington] - Not guilty was there right answer
[brigham l anglea] - Congrats defense. You did your job. PROVED he wasn't guilty.
[brian keith bell] - Bad that a youngster git killed. Bad situation all the way around. Looked to be centered on race. I am not racist and I generally dont buy in to atereotypes. I have head that riots were being talked about if zimmerman was found not guilty. I hope that wasnt true and I hope it doesnt happen. That would only reinforce those stereotypes. Glad its over.
[joshua belvedere] - A complete failure of the American justice system.
[miriam bell] - It's obscene. Apparently it's now okay to shoot kids for simply walking while black.
[roxanne chilcote] - I agree with Gayle, nobody wins when someone dies. This man has to live with the fact that he killed a young man. Trayvon's family has to live without their son. Who won?
[lydia spillers fowler] - Another murderer free to roam the streets of FL again...
[mike kuzawinski] - I believe the verdict is correct. The prosecution tried to paint it as a racial slaying of a child which it was not. It was 2 grown men in a scuffle which ended I in self defense
[raymond manning] - There had been NUMEROUS break-ins recently and EVERYONE was on high alert at the time! Needless to say the people in the neighborhood are behind GZ!! This was more than a 'kid' carrying a bag of skittles! He had a past of fighting and recently beat up his bus driver! He was also suspended from school for several reasons. His mother could not handle him so she sent him to live with his dad who evidently didn't keep him under his watch! He was not the innocent 'child' the media wanted you to think... and the pictures they chose to show of him prove that! why didnt they show the vulgar ones from his facebook page?? Now if you listened to the 911 tapes or watched the trial at all you know that TM was much larger than GZ and you also know that GZ was attacked from behind. He was in the process of walking back to his truck because he lost sight of TM. He was not the aggressor. He was legally carrying a gun and he legally defended himself when he was getting the crap beat out of him and getting his head bashed in to the sidewalk. The prosecution knew this and that's why they wanted the sentence lowered to manslaughter because they knew they didn't have a leg to stand on. What happened is a terrible tragedy for both families. I cant imagine losing a child
[abenezer hismercy abraham] - I don't care what the verdict says. If I'm walking home minding my own business and you come following me in your car and then on foot and you have a gun. I will use all my strength to beat you and kill you with my bear hands. That's called SELF-DEFENSE!!!
[shorri racquel] - @Amber Hall he was 17 and yes he was s kid with a college scholarship and a 3.4 GPA, not a thug!
[myra stewart] - Not surprised. Guilt must be proven beyond a shadow of doubt. If there is any doubt, jurors have no choice. This is a tragedy all around. A young man lost his life and the verdict won't bring him back. I can think of several cases where proof was not presented and the verdict was not what was expected.
[beth patterson] - I'm from Springfield, born and raised, I know nothing about the case other than people on both sides are either pleased or displeased. How can people be concerned about a teenager being killed when in my own city more black people own guns than the police. There are still unsolved murders and will be. People should be ashamed trying to say its the white peoples fault. Racism and ignorance are more than what a color shows. I am ashamed of the human race though.
[randall wilson] - I'm sorry for Trayvon - the system let him down again!
[kristyandgary pacetti] - I am happy to see a man found not guilty after protecting his own life! People want to make it a race thing???? Really? That card is played out! The true victim really is the Martin boy...he was raised to have no respect or values. He knew thay Zimmerman was part of neighborhood watch and it all could have been avoided if he would have not had thought it was okay to do bodily harm to another ...seems like if there was a case of racism here.....it was Martin who was racial ....but he was a victim of poor upbringing and nothing more. There is far too many young people with this same disregard for their elders and authority. Sadly it got him killed ...but ANYONE who says in Zimmerman's shoes that night...they would not have been fearful of their life...given the events that took place....THEY ARE A LIAR!
[jason d. jenkins] - Maybe Zimmerman should have just lied still and let. Martin beat him to death. Maybe all of these people trying to make it about race would be happy then. I don't care what race you are every one has a right to defend themselves. Period.
WKRN-TV Nashville: What is your reaction to the verdict? - 50th Comments
[doug raines] - And we all know OJ did it
[craig risner] - I believe the jury made the right decision based on the case the state made!
[alan barnett] - What should we learn from this case? If you suspect suspicious activity notify the police and LEAVE!
[vicky ruff batcher] - Not going to lie and say I'm not happy about the verdict. You never hear about much about a black man shooting another black man or the black man that shot the white man. But a white man shooting a black man has this country in an up roar. I say it scored one for self defense. The level of fear one feels whether they are armed or not you can't judge. If your in fear you are in fear whether a weapon is there or not. Amen for Self Defense
[faye dukes] - I feel bad for this guy, he is free to go but he would have probably been safer in jail. People in public are going to believe what they want and hold hate in their hearts and he will probably be attacked. It's a sad world we live in. I don't know whether this guy deserves to be free or not, but his return home will not be without much anxiety.
[lashandra white] - How many people on here calling Trayvon a thug actually met him? How many in this discussion are innocent if making racist remarks, jokes, and comments ? NONE. HE should have gotten Manslaughter. He followed that young man after being instructed not to and then drew his gun and shot him. Yes black on black crime happens and those guilty are arrested and serve time. Did he not commit a crime?
[kevin comer] - Where is the outrage of black on black or white on white killings? Don't hear about that. When two different races are involved its automatically racism. That's total crap. Any death brought on by violence is the real issue here. Lets see the media sensationalise that story. Probably won't happen. No ratings in trying to fix the real problem!
[doug raines] - Terrance he wasn't white
[scott adkins] - The justice system worked!!!!
[jennifer falkenbach hewson] - Just glad it's over!! SO SICK of hearing Zimmerman this Trayvon that!! Dang!!
[jennifer anderson ryan] - I wish you guys would just drop this I have never seen such horrible language on this case Media go away!!!
[pam smith webb] - Sick a young man has lost his life.what makes it worse is that smug look on his face.
[erika thompson odell] - Zimmerman should have been found guilty of something, even manslaughter, although a lesser charge, to prevent him from EVER legally having a gun again!!!
[shorri racquel] - He murdered an unarmed kid...that is NOT justice!!!! He may be free but he will forever be looking over his shoulders...
[mark hopkins] - Justice was served.
[ruth morgan] - Where was the news on the million dollar settlement the parents got from the HOA?
[john griffith] - JUSTICE WAS PASSED BY SIX SWORN INDIVIDUALS ACCORDING TO THE LAWS OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY SO GET OVER IT AND LIVE WITH IT.
[jason conner] - The correct verdict was reached and must be respected by all
[jason cobb] - There is no such thing as African Americans, if so I am a European American! That makes me special too! WE are all Americans, so stop crying bc you did not get your way!
The justice system spent a ton of money on this case, the system works, decisions were made! He is not guilty, bottom line drive on!
[justin morrow] - The verdict was 100% correct.
[kaninchen schwartzepfote] - Zimmerman will now have to live his life constantly looking over his shoulder...he will not be safe ANYWHERE...
[bob durocher] - We don't KNOW what happened to lead to the confrontation. We can only guess. But in a court of law guesses don't count and the prosecution did not prove their case. No winners here, only losers.
[doug raines] - If your saying anything about "white" then you my friend are the definition of a RACIST
[mike veto burls] - True words Doug I pray for both souls and the families because a lot of lives are forever changed
[doug raines] - Mike I agree, but there's no need in a racial outbreak.... We are all children of God
[doug raines] - Ryan Taylor your right on it!
[mike veto burls] - Doug he would not have to defend his self against anyone if he would have stayed in the car like he was told. And everyone would have went home.. He was a crime watch that means watch and call the police
[doug raines] - pray for both families, I guess you haven't realized Zimmerman is gonna have to live with this because he defended hisself
[doug raines] - He was no kid , if he had killed Zimmerman he would've been tried as an adult
[linda cobb vickers] - "We was mistreated" 200 years ago????? I don't think "we" we're around then!!!!
[doug raines] - My step dads brother was murdered by 3 black men they cut his throat under arm pits and knee caps, no justice was ever served nor was it on TV
[tracey grindle] - Sure hope riots dont break out like rodney king again. Im not racist, i do feel it was self defense and i do get tired of hearing a out racism. I never owned slaves nor did my family. I dont believe in it or the kkk and i get acused sumply for being white. Racism exists in all cultures. We are all immigrants. We all bleed res but right is right and we have a right to defend ourselves. Love your neighbors even if u disagree. Rioting will only breed hate.
[janina mari' allen] - Disappointed in our justice system. People can walk away from killing a child. Mothers can kill their children and walk away. What is this world coming to?
[carolyn leake] - Zimmerman innocent, Casey Anthony innocent, OJ Simpson innocent. White man, white woman, black man. 3 types of people. I just feel sorry for Trayvons parents, Little Cayley OJs children. But what do i know? I dont, i just listen.
[trejean watkins] - First of all I feel sad for trayvon martins family secondly I'm just disappointed in this verdict. This shows that racism has not died and is till alive and well
[shorri racquel] - Some of you all are pitiful! Until the tragedy hits your house...I will leave it at that...smh
[dianna werme] - How is this right when he shot an unarmed kid?!
[mary jones devault] - Apparently some people think it's ok to beat a persons head in the ground and punch them in the face. It wasn't a matter of " shooting a kid for walking while black." Maybe he shouldn't have been following the kid at all, idk I wasn't there. Following someone doesn't give a person the right to beat another person. If the jury got it wrong based on evidence presented, God will see that justice is done in the end. Just glad I didn't have to make this decision.
[ted holiday] - The Jury has SPOKEN! Now watch the media not let it die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[amber hall] - Black men kill black men daily but let a HISPANIC man kill a black man and it's the end of the world. Black on black crime is an epidemic yet they focus on this?? Travon was not a "child". He was a racist thug although he did not deserve to die. Zimmerman did not deserve a murder charge and a jury of his peers agreed. For those of you making race an issue....look in the mirror.
[michele rene] - he should have been found guilty of first-degree murder. He was instructed NOT to confront that kid, but he did it anyway because he WANTED a confrontation. He killed a KID and he should have fried for it!
[linda coffey gates] - Justice is served!
[janiece daland hamblen] - Truth won out! Did not think that they would listen to the evidence of how he was brutally bashed in the head.
[deborah robinson barber] - Happy he was found Not Guilty. Now if he had been punished and had made to stay home he would be alive. If my teen had been expelled from school she wouldnt have see the light of day for months and she certainly wouldnt have a cell phone.
[randy harmon] - WHOO-HOO !!
Score One for The Good Guys ! !!
[tim walpole] - I believe its the right call,,
[georgette sorini] - he should have gone to prison. an eye for an eye!
[bonnie maynes] - There is no justice in Sanford Florida. The man was clearly guilty.
[arvy smith prentice] - here we go again blaming all white people on a case that has nothing to do with eveybody else but the two involved
[john griffith] - MISS MARIA. IT DOESN'T APPEAR AS IF YOU HAVE MISSED TOO MANY MEALS YOURSELF.
WKRN-TV Nashville: What is your reaction to the verdict? - 100th Comments
[maria canaday] - No one wins, not guilty does not mean he did not kill the young man, he may have got off, but it's between him and God now.... Karma sucks
[greg bailey] - If Zimmerman had" resect " the law he would have let the LAW handle things that night
[john smith] - You really can get away with murder in this country. All you have to say is he looked suspicious to me.
[greg bailey] - He's not innocent .
[nancy howell] - displeased, but not surprised
[shane bloeser] - Like to see our moron President cry now.
[doug raines] - And Phaedra that's why Zimmerman was Latino
[julie hart ward thaxton] - There was no winner here. But there definitely was a loser.
[tami worley holloman] - I didn't hear all the facts presented, so can't comment on whether I think he was guilty or innocent, but the prosecution's job was to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. They couldn't do it.
[doug raines] - God bless u Mike
[jamie mueller] - @Ryan Taylor # you nailed it plain and simple!!!
[william bennett] - Just as I thought. INNOCENT by a landslide.
[sheila salewsky] - Guilty or not it is a sad situation. A man shot a young man. He was arrested, he plead self defense. A jury of his peers found him not guilty. Many lives have been changed forever. A mother and father have lost a son, a mans life has been forever changed. Guilty or not he has to live with the fact that he took a life. Guilty or not the young mans parents will forever mourn the loss of their son. Again it is a sad situation.
[margaret jacobsen] - miscarrage of justice,,that man was as guilty as hell!
[meghan strode] - Please April backs were selling blacks way before white people got in on the trade! But hey did ya know white people were also sold and made slaves as well?!??
[rebecca massie hubble] - I respect the jury. We were not there and have not walked in their shoes. With that being said, my heart breaks for the loss of a child and I am sure Mr. Zimmerman's life is forever changed.
[coy brown] - Justice has been served.
[linda cobb vickers] - "We" been free for almost 200 years!!! Drop it!!!
[paula renee' harvey] - Amen the justice system finally for one right
[meghan strode] - He was not a child!!!! If he committed a crime he would of been trailed as an adult!! But since he was the victim of self defense he is automatically a child?!?
[nan sandlin] - Jury did their civic duty base on facts....evidence presented to them.. whether we agree or not.
[sherry nichols] - I am fine with it what I new
[doug raines] - If it was my brother it wouldn't be on TV
[michelle thomas] - WOWW A POT SMOKING RACIST THUG?? WTF IS WRONG WITH PPL??17YRS OLD ISN'T STILL A CHILD? I PRETTY SURE IF UT WAS UR 17YR OLD CHILD OR BROTHER OR SISTER U WOULD FEEL DIFFERENT , ppl r so blind !!
[frank baker] - @shorri racquel he was a thug who was in his 3 rd school due to his behavior. He was caught at school with stolen property but wasn't charged with a crime. He attacked a man because he was being watched. Crazy
[craig chapman] - I'll follow you all day long. But if you confront me, sucker punch me, then get on top of me and beat me and say your gonna kill me, your screwed.
[julia sanders] - I think the jury got it right this is a case that never should have gone to trail. The state didn't prove the case and they over charged if they had of gone with manslaughter all alone the verdict might have been different.
[ben lawson] - Blame the prosecution .... they got owned in this case. Dont blame the media, what do you expect the media to do anyway. Its called ratings...
[sam anita spahr] - Unbelievable, praying for the Martins.
[jake poole] - Glad I'm (hopefully) done hearing about it.
[melva hancock wessner] - they ruled as they should have
[jeremy sigler] - When is the system ever effective ? Everyone has their own judgement day .. And money or your race won't sway The Lord just what's right .
[michael d. coleman] - @chelsea Raymer. Your stupid as hell.
[amy ashbury fadler] - Sometimes I believe people only base their decisions on who is right and wrong by simply the color of their skin. How about looking at the facts instead?
[ashley taylor] - LOL Brian... Funny
[donna martineau loring] - Correct decision.
[jerry gowen] - I did not hear the testimony so I have no understanding from an evidence standpoint who is guilty and who is not. Simple as that. I do believe in our way of life. Even with its flaws, I believe it is the way we make decisions of these types of conflicts and will not second guess those jurors who had the responsibility to render the verdict. I have set on a murder trial jury before and it is a daunting responsibility. God bless the USA…and our way of life. I will not undermine by making statements about what I do not know the facts.
[matt nelson] - I'm contemplating leaving America, because the system is broken.
[michael d. coleman] - @stephanie Smith bain. Ur stupid as hell. Well see how long he lives.
[thomas clarkkent taylor] - if he wasnt guilty then who was
[brigham l anglea] - I think it's so funny people call him a BOY or KID. a BOY or KID doesn't drive a car. Or walk home alone. But hey ! LET THE RIOTS BEGIN ! Sad but true
[sharlene smith] - So if he is innocent, then who pulled the trigger?
[rick chimber] - No one will ever no the truth of what really happened, but what I find ironic is half of the states witnesses seemed to help the defense more than the state
[paul pecori jr] - So true Jason...
[patty olsen jones] - It was a no win.. I am glad regarding the results and considering the facts. I did not expect it as the bias media, public figures, politicians and even this president used their voice to escalate the hatred & conviction and had absolutely NO right to make a confirmed judgement before the facts. However... for once the media & its manipulation and the Presidents 2 cents did not over ride the facts and the law. We have had numerous murders involving children.. black on white (or hispanic) & vice versa etc. However this one was chosen to escalate & attempt to divide the people once again. We need to stand as people and what is right.. not by race. Bless all those that have been impacted and give them peace.
[jackie james matthews] - Its a sin and a shame that your can kill an animal and do years of jail time but you can kill a black kid and just walk away - NOT GUILTY are you serious. My heart aches for the Martin family as the mother of a son I can feel/understand and share her pain- God be with us!!
[jennifer rye] - April Q----you dear need to learn how to spell!
[chuck traylor] - I feel a little more less safe in this world but that was even before the verdict.
[ryan taylor] - Is is guilty of getting out of his car, but that's not a crime
[barry whitehead] - Whether you like the outcome or not justice was served.
WKRN-TV Nashville: What is your reaction to the verdict? - 150th Comments
[brian krost] - everyone so butthurt lol
[don goodman] - The death threats will be coming from stupid people. Zimmerman will have to move and change his name which is unfortunate that people just won't let justice be.
[diane zorza] - What a dirty rotten shame! Florida's judicial system is terrible, corrupted cops and right now, is a State that frees murderers!
[jennifer rye] - OJ got away with it, but he's too cocky & ended up in jail in the end!
[anna collier] - What ever happen to Thou Shll Not Kill ?
[anna collier] - Only in America, It's so sad.
[ryan taylor] - Watching al sharpton sit next to white lady's on msnbc saying "they won a battle, but we'll win the war!" Seems legit..LOL
[don goodman] - I hear Obama is looking into federal charges which would be stupid. The Justice system worked even with race involved
[jo ellen long-rice] - Good for Zimmerman! 6 mothers on jury felt he was not guilty. Should tell you something.
[greg bailey] - How would you feel. ?
[greg bailey] - Donna there would be justice. How would feel
[donna senior] - Wow! how would some of you feel if this was your son?
[greg bailey] - Carl describe the word thug in trayvons case.
[greg bailey] - ERIC I AGREE WITH YOU IF TRAYVON TURNS AND RUN TOWARD ZIMMERMAN BUT IF HIS INSTUCTION FROM THD POLICE SAYS WE"LL HANDLE AND YOU ARE TO WATCH THE SUSPECT ONLY THEN THERE IS NO SELF DRFENCE NEEDED. .
[eric arnold] - that had no rock solid proof of anything and its a good possiility it was self defense
[cynthia diane brown] - We are in a country with a legal system that isn't perfect but its ours. There are many worse. I don't know all of the facts so I leave the verdict to the jury.
[greg bailey] - QUESTION KAREN. DID HE ZIMMERMAN INSTIGATE THE SITUATION? SHOLD HE HAVE WAITED FOR THE POLICE ? Nobody's life was in dznger at the time he called 911
[greg bailey] - OMG!!! MARIA. WHAT DOES THATHAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING???
[greg bailey] - THE POLICE TOLD ZIMMERMAN NOT TO DO ANYTHING THAT THEY WOULD HANDLE. IF ZIMMERMAN HAD "OBEYED" THE LAW MARTAIN MIGHT STILL BE ALIVE AND ZIMMERMAN WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN HIS BRAINS BEAT OUT.
[pamela parker] - Amen @Ryan Taylor
[randy jones] - His death could have been prevented. It will probably change the neighborhood watch programs, in which it apparently is not effective in stopping crime.
[maria canaday] - Poor George sure has not missed a meal during all of this looks like he's justs stuffed himself with food....
[pamela parker] - Very well said @Julia Sanders.
[greg bailey] - HE WAS TOLD TO LET THE POLICE HANDLE. BOTTOM LINE HE TOOK THE LAW IN HIS OWN HANDS. IF HE HAD OBEYED THE LAW JE WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN HIS BRAINS BEAT OUT.
[aroet daniela avitia] - That's the reason this country disgusts me because instead of your replies to my comment being "we should make it safer and better" or trying to fix it, it was leave and bye. People like you make this country disgusting.
[christine anderson horn] - Not surprised. Killers walk free every day.
[greg bailey] - Who sees a Zimmerman book deal in the future?
[jason-angie williams] - Wow who would have guessed a news channel would love to know the reactions to such a highly publicized murder trial... It never stops... My reaction to the post is don't fall victim to the media... I didn't know anyone in this trial personally but only what you (the media) told me or showed me. So I refuse to fall victim to media and realize there is no way to know which side I am for. I am with the previous post and no one is a winner. A life is lost and a man has to live with it for the rest of his days weather guilty or innocent. And to sum it up what is the purpose of this post? What is your reaction? To me it is merely another chance to keep the races divided by letting everyone read posts that have so many personal opinions and room for sparking emotions.
[chevelle virgo] - Well so what his azz wasnt arrested for a whole 45 days after the crime them when he comes to court he as big as double wide hell he will get bigger and no one will know his big azz but buger king or mdcs he will be safe
[kathryn ann peck slayman] - Justice prevails!!!!
[felisha 'fe' bryant] - What is REALLY going on in Florida? First Casey Anthony and now this. I have a few questions.
[terrence hillson] - Justice. LOL. This country has been screwing blacks for years and of course it continues. Instead of rioting which will go no where blacks should stop giving their pledge of allegiance to a land that does not respect them and treats them like 2nd class citizens while practicing programs designed to hold them back. The few that do "beat" the system are lucky, but they still will always hold the stigma of being black in this country and its thru no fault of their own. This whole case was a set-up to smack black people down and make whites feel like they won one why they celebrate a black child has died. And they call it justice....and they will smile about it because the most have no sense of righteousness. So celebrate white america as your country is slowly being torn apart from the inside out and when its too late you will find out what your focus really should have been on......
[sherry june best] - g.z. should have stayed in the car, and t.m. should have kept walking to his house. no confrontatiin equals no story. tough one to call but prosecution did not come thru
[wanda pillen] - He should of had jail time. He was told not to bother the kid and he wanted to Barney badass and he killed that kid ,he killed that kid after they told him to leave him alone and he could not follow directions and there is a kid dead and a mother without her child
[anita massengale sanders] - Gayle Jones, you said it all...
[shorri racquel] - @Megan henley..trashy is the evil fool who killed a 17 yr old!!! With your uneducated response...makes you a trashy!!! I am done.
[robert kirchner] - I think this guy will always be living in fear..
[courtney talley] - There was no justice for him but it shows how cruel the world can be
[jr robles] - Clearly, it's measured, rational, and not influenced at all by sensationalist media vultures. Obvs.
[shorri racquel] - Wth@meghan strode..no comment.may God blesd u sweetie cause you need it.
[doug raines] - Mike he was Hispanic
[tracy janssen law] - Too much reasonable doubt for guilty verdict
[bill leclair] - Happy Happy Happy, high five to George and the Justice System. Shame on the State Attorney and the county prosecutor for hiding evidence, and underhanded dealings, they need to be censored and disbarred for this behavior.
[adam john boyd] - I'm stunned that he got off that easy. I would settle on the score for insanity plea.
[craig chapman] - The prosecution had no case! It was obvious self defense to begin with. That's why the police chief was forced out. Because he wasn't going to press charges to begin with.
[barbara kent goodman] - It has been proven time and time again that you can protect yourself and property, even if that means by deadly force. Do I agree with the verdict, yes and no. I don't believe he was guilty of murder but a lesser charge, yes. Either way, his life is shot to hell. He'll never have a normal life.
[alan barnett] - This is obviously the right decision. Zimmerman made mistakes by stalking and profiling but he did not murder that boy.
[sarah alvarado] - Omg, thank you at least some people with common sense
[sabrina gironda] - First off racistism should not to pointed at white people because Zimmerman is not white, second off if there first witness wasn't such a b**** and people would have listened! Evidence showed he was guilty.
[jeffrey moritz jr] - This made the Devil giggle.
WKRN-TV Nashville: What is your reaction to the verdict? - 200th Comments
[aroet daniela avitia] - This country is disgusting.
[shannon d akins] - These news stations are like springer you never report real news then when there is something...volatile y'all want to be all up in it ... That's right every body have an opinion to insight problems! Racism Sucks in all forms for all people let's talk about wars!! Lol
[timothy lusk] - Kid got what he deserved
[marjorie jones bass] - Justice even with all things done to keep justice from being done.
[kimberly auston davidson] - Just because he was found not guilty doesn't mean he's not. Im so not surprised at the verdict. This is typical of our justice system
[lisa michelle] - justice was not served!!!!!
[roger benderman] - Well its Florida law but no charges??? That's not right
[sheila totten] - Zimmerman should have been found guilty but what can we expect from the state of the "hanging chads"
[jennifer rye] - End the end, it all comes down to Karma. What comes around goes around.
[shorri racquel] - The system does not work!!!! It's not about getting "our" way. An unarmed kid was killed for no real reason.
[audrey robles] - No one is a winner here. A family is still grieving for their son who is dead. Another family is going to suffer the consequence of an innocent verdict and this man's life is up in the air.
[cathy michelle bell-snell] - It was the wrong verdict. George Zimmerman went against what the officers told him not to do. Approached a stranger with his gun. Trevon tries to defend himself and Zimmerman kills him. Zimmerman beoughtnthis all on himself. He is guilty. If he had listened to the officers and quit following him and stayed in his car, Trevon Martin would still be alive.
[april quarles] - Ok the only ppl who are saying justice was served is White no need to sugar coat nothin! Ur not black so u dnt knw wat its like!! History just keeps repeating itself! Yall, are sad group of ppl this goes bak to slavery!! We had been mistreated for over 200yrs in this country n we are the only group of ppl who didnt ask to be here!!! Now spend a day in my shoes!
[bob johnson] - Wonderful news. NOT GUILTY. The news media playes this one up and lost. The thug was not 12. He was a 17 year old punk and a known dealer. Even though the defense could not bring this up, the correct verdict was handed down. People have the right to defend themselves. If I see something thqt does not look right in my neighborhood I check it out. I protect my family and house. Plus I look out for my neighbors.
[randall dorris davis] - Thank God justice was served. Evidence not emotions.
[andrew putman] - Disbelief....a real tragedy all the way around
[ryan taylor] - 911 dispatch has no authority to tell anyone to stay in a car or do anything else, of that is your only reason for a guilty verdict then you can stop now
[telese davidson] - I feel the jury made the correct decision, but it is sad and tragic for both families either way
[shorri racquel] - @pam wearing a hoodie don't make u a thug. Yes there are plenty of educated people who are in prison, but wrong is wrong. Killing an unarmed 17 yr old KID is not justice!!
[shorri racquel] - @mark I did not suggest anything!!!! Get it right, I said he will be looking over his shoulder!
[kelly j martinez] - He got away with murder plain and simple!
[whitney brianna songz] - Trayvon Martin was a innocent 17 year old boy killed in cold blood not guilty was not the right verdict. Rest in Peace Trayvon
[michelle thomas] - PROOF OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IS THAT BULLSH*T!!! SMDH FLORIDA ,,ONLY STATE U CAN KILL CHILDREN & GET AWAY WITH IT!! ASK URSELF IF THAT WAS UR 17YR CHILD WALKING HOME FROM STORE & GOT SHOT,,, WOULD U STILL THINK THAT GEORGE ZEMMERMAN'S NOT GUILTY?? What is wrong with ppl?? WE HAVE NO JUSTICE SYSTEM!!!
