Here's the latest from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Many counties electing to keep travel warnings through the night because of the dangerous cold and blowing and drifting snow. Residents need to stay indoors to allow snow removal crews to plow roads so they can be reopened. Police/Fire/EMS crews need everyone off the road as well to keep all lanes open in case of emergency. We do not want to create more of a hazard than already exists. Many counties have posted warnings to ticket or arrest residents that do not comply with lawful direction. Do not risk it. Call your employer ahead of time. If you must be on the road, leave in plenty of time, bring emergency supplies with you, and most importantly, take it slow!

[dora dyer trippett] - These corporations/businesses need to be FINED for staying open
[heathernronnie hall] - Wish big corporations would adhere to this!!!
[jennifer caldwell] - Renee Dodson-Stephenson....let's not make this political please. This is an emergency situation not an election. People in the medical field like myself have no choice..we have to go to work. Were all adults..we can decide if its too dangerous for us to venture out in these conditions. Everyone relax.. its not going to last forever. :-)
[jennifer jadin-western] - What gets me is employers expect workers to come in when the live in red counties. It's illegal!! I could get a ticket!! I could slide off the road!! I could get hurt!! I'd spend more money than what I would if I stayed home. Biggest thing, it's against the law. They override business. No customers as they can't go out either.
[sebrena robertson] - I think that's funny police say stay off roads or risk getting a ticket or arrested. But call your employer. Employer can over ride police order. So if I get pulled over I just have to say my boss told me I have to come to work and I'm fine or I'm I going to get a ticket or arrest. You think my employer will pay the ticket or bail me out
[renee dodson-stephenson] - By the way, for all of you that have employers that are so greedy that they are threatening your job if you can't get into work, remember that the next time you vote. It's the republicans that voted to make Indiana a Right to Work state, where you can be fired for ANY reason your employer makes up.
[cathy peeples] - Plows out all day and night in Anderson. And still out now, they are working 12 hour shifts . My fiancé took a break long enough to take a nap, now he's on call 24/7. He's been gone since 6:30 this morning and still out. Plz watch out for plows it is extremely dangerous and city plows can have a difficult time stopping suddenly. If you don't need to be out plz don't. It's safer for everyone. Prayers to all !
[pam mcneill] - Right now in Fort Wayne there are over 100 truckers stuck at a truck stop because they can't go anywhere, but Allen county lifted the warning....not very smart
[sally hans] - And Allen county...geezzz
[katie williams] - Wayne County SHOULD be in the red too! What is wrong with our County officials!? Our roads are horrible and people can't stop on these roads! It's a sheet of ice!
[thomas martin] - Not to smart of Allen county.....a lot of gas stations closed because pumps r froze up...road in county r still in bad shape!
[beth snyder] - a few other counties need to of been in the red also today. I agree the places that make you go to work should be punished for being open in these condition's
[cristy beeson lamaster] - I agree, Wayne county should be a level 3 also!! All roads are a sheet of ice and if nothing else NO ONE should be out in this weather!!! These temps are outrageous!!!
[rene' richardson miller] - What is wrong with Wayne county officials????? How do u drive on ice????
[jason white] - That makes sense, considering Grant county pulled their trucks in around 4:30. And won't be back out till 7am. I live out in the country and if something goes wrong nobody's getting here. Haven't seen a pow all day.
Thankfully a farmer ran his implement down the road and I can now go a mile away. Does really no good since town is 5 miles away.
[theresa waun] - Stink!!! I gotta gett my nails done!!!! Lol
[virginia lowe-mounts] - They need to go back to code red. Heard the roads are still pretty bad and the temp is horrible.
[renee dodson-stephenson] - Were in Miami County and we have seen a plow ONCE in two days. Our road has like one to two foot drifts. We are out in the country and our roads are never plowed good at all. We have to get heating fuel and animal feed and can't even get out. Where is all that extra tax money we've been taxed? Why are the plows being not being run and being told to go back to the maintenance barns?
[kristin lawrence] - why is it that wayne never goes to level 3? ridiculous, we are at the same temps as most of the states in red.
[brianna eilene bowers] - ITS Technologies and Logistics are forcing my Hubby to show up tomorrow- AND work extra for the lost time! I hope he gets stuck and the boss comes to pick him up and gets his %$! ticketed!!
[peggy hones morisen] - For those with automatics, learn to downshift to slow the engine and control the vehicle instead of using your brakes. Guess it takes us North Country people to teach people how to drive.
[nicole hansen] - Thanks for keeping Howard in Red!!
[carrie johnson] - I'm saying common sense my lil happy tail is staying home !!! Safe and no ticket and boss can kiss me butt !!
[beth hickman brault] - Why is it that Mayor Kevin Smith is telling people that travel restrictions have been lifted to level 1 from level 3 in Anderson? I was pretty sure that Anderson is part of Madison county...
[andrea brady] - I don't get it! Want me to drive on icy roads so someone can get their teeth cleaned or a filling! Really? That can wait! Sorry..but that's how I feel.
[joice brito e cunha] - I hope everything is safe with you, and your family, Emily..
[elissa summers] - I know. Til how long tho Katie ? I'm sure we would be covered LEGALLY if this is still in effect by the time we have to report in
[angel grimes-kennedy] - Jason White I am in Van Buren, in the country, and same for us. Not a plow in sight! We are completely snowed in! :(
[kelli white] - Dang Marion county for going to a watch.
[jason dell] - Thanks Jennifer for saying that about the political stuff no need for that now
[james hall] - I'm a little sour about Wayne county staying level 2 when almost everyone around us is level 3
[mark h renken] - That probably won't stop you to ticket you if you are on the roads but if you do something stupid and end up needing people to come to your rescue, and in turn endanger them, then they might.
[kimmi ann bobby] - This says stay off the road then they say if you must be on the road! Well which is it?!!! Stay off or it's ok to be on?!
[missy wright] - Brandi Cavaness-Lady
[gordon heck] - Renee, you're an idiot.
[liz britt] - Katie Lanae uhm be careful!! Tickets are 500
[cristy beeson lamaster] - I've heard from several people that the ones in this town with $$$ pay for us in Wayne county to not go to a level 3!!! Just what I've heard!!
[carissa barzacchini] - Send Belden the fine then....
[leticia llamas] - Hayward obviously your local gas station and supermarket were open at some point in the day or you should have prepared better
[wanda wright] - Is this still the most current listing?
[cindy maluna] - Our ambulance went to Indy....from Hagerstown....70 sucks....be safe people! Thanks for the update!
[jamie baldridge] - Till 1pm.tomorrow afternoon when the wind.dies.
[tammy d. rhodes padgett] - Really? Where will you go when in need of a doctor if they close all the hospitals and clinics?
[anita r. johnson] - Yes safety is more important than jobs, money and other unnecessary things.
[libby simmons] - Why did union county go red anyone know?
[amber morton] - when is this suppose to lift tonight or some time tommrow if anybody has a clue please share???
[heather schnelle] - When will this be lifted..any idea?
[sara goose roop] - Doesn't Matter if Newton county is in the red cops are still letting people drive in the dangerous weather.
[debi westrate] - When will it be lifted do you have any idea? My husbands boss has already said everyone is expected at work tomorrow.
[janet harding] - Wondering what the white counties mean.
IndianaWeatherOnline: Here's the latest from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Many counties electing to k - 50th Comments
[cathy peeples] - Here goes round three, time to let the plow truck drivers to go home and from last night and a new to begin. There are only ten full time city workers in the street dept. in Anderson . They are taking shifts and are doing their job in these terrible life threatening conditions. Plz everyone if you don't have to be out don't, it makes it easier for them to get our streets done. If you have to be out take it slow and give our drivers room to maneuver those plows . They are very difficult to handle in sudden situations , Ty all have a safe day stay warm . Thanks to the street department of Anderson !
[andrea selner-amor] - Emergency management website says it is the same as last nights order. Nothing is to be on road but emergency vehicles. Order will be re-examined tomorrow afternoon
[ashley edge] - Hey christine what bout vincenned
[lisa campbell clark] - Morgan is red. Hummm glad we only got rain. NOT!!!
[tiffany nash] - Would love to see a plow in lake village out on state line. I would be happy if they would just go down it one time.
[joanna hadley] - Krisdan Garver - FYI
[mike langdon] - Delaware county has gone to level 2 and Henry county will be going to level 2 at 6pm BOTH TODAY.
[heather elizabeth-king lemon] - Are there any warnings still out?? Can we go out on the roads yet?
[vickie long] - You could get a ticket and have a wreck, cause someone to go to the hospital just because you didn't prepare for the weather! Don't be stupid ! Of course you must be !
[shanna winter] - We're red an I got told I still have to be at work
[hayward woody evans] - Why do people want places to close what about people that run out of food or other items what then let your kids starve
[cathy peeples] - Thank you he works really hard for our community.
[steve abbott] - Please find me a map like this on for Illinois
[kimberly matthews] - Michael Matthews
[selena minardo] - Morgan is still red!
[cindy tucker] - Pamela Tucker Poling
[michael kutche] - wish Owen was on a watch ..
[gail harlan dick] - Thanks Heather Winger
[brandi ramer] - My job requires me to attend; nothing I can do about that. Good thing I can't be ticketed/arrested as I am a county employee and considered "essential personnel"!
[peggy hones morisen] - Was out here in Union Cty. Have seen worse in "The North Country." People need to learn to drive in this. And most should have standard shift, to control their vehicle.
[joanna hadley] - Kara Ferguson Kauffman - this is the latest...
[carrie johnson] - Love that your posting the new updates ! Thank you !
[christine jones] - Elkhart county has downgraded to a watch
