- Dr. Mehmet Oz: As I watched the news this weekend of the Trayvon Martin verdict, it affirms that we must work
As I watched the news this weekend of the Trayvon Martin verdict, it affirms that we must work tirelessly to end violence everywhere. My heart is sad with condolences for his mother and father, as I am a fellow parent.

[jean hughes] - We need to be concerned as a country about ALL the children that are murdered every year! Very sad...
[angelic pnut williams-jackson] - I appreciate your compassion and empathy, Dr. Oz and others!!!! We need to hear encouraging messages like that at a time like this. Lots of people are devastated in the African-American as well as all other communities!!! <3!!!!
[michelle crosby] - I am a white woman who lost a very young cousin to a murder! The suspect was black, and he blew my 20 year old cousins head off with a high power rifle....he was literally decapitated. Was it racial motivated? I can't really say! My cousin was making a deposit at an ATM! Did we protest, and assume all black men are racist....NO!..........I hate this division!
[stephanie castaños] - Someone commented He was defending himself, please, the man had no right to go after the kid, even the 911 operator told him not to approach him! And he still went because he wanted to be the "neighborhood watch hero." If anything T.M. Was the only one defending himself.
[christie d] - Trayvon had a pack of a skittles and an iced tea, walking to his family members house. Please tell me what crime he was committing that Zimmerman had the "right" to intervene?
[dina manor-saunders] - here's a wonderful story about teenagers who saved a 5 yr old from being kidnapped. http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/15/justice/pennsylvania-teen-heroes/index.html?hpt=hp_t2
[erich wurz] - Reading Dr Oz's comment, I don't think he is necessarily taking sides on this but calling for an end to violence everywhere. I agree with that. But regarding the verdict, none of us were there as eyewitnesses so we need to let the process carry out and the jury do what they are asked to do. People who blame Trayvon or GZ do so without knowing all the facts. The media distorted this so bad which is why we have such division on this matter. It was a tragic situation and there is no good outcome.
[cat merrithew] - The tragic reality in your country Dr Oz is the lack of gun control and the high degree of racism. Terrible outcome.
[victoria progris] - Are you a parent of a violent child that smokes and deals weed and deals in weapons, and had a propensity towards violence, that would jump out of the bushes and attack a man smaller than him because said man was protecting his neighborhood from over 300 break-ins ? Did no one see the trial and absorb all the evidence ? And since when does the president of the United States of America use his office to push his racial agenda ? What has our country turned into? This administration should be calming everyone down and not throwing fuel into the fire by turning this into a race war! And that includes the pop culture, athletes, actors and tv personalities including you Dr Oz! You are all playing a dangerous game in dividing this country. Take heed and use your position in the media wisely!
[marian king] - Nobody is going overboard a life was taken point blank!!! Zimmerman could have punched Trayvon, as he say he was being punched... He did NOT HAVE TO SHOOT & KILL!!! Kuddos to you Dr.Oz
[jan hankel] - I'm a parent too, but y all the attention on this case from celebrities and not all the other children that this has happened too. What about all the violence in Chicago... Black on black no one ever comments on that...
He was NOT a child he was a teenager... Past being a child
[jessie tucker] - It would have been more sad for an innocent man to be imprisoned.. Look at All the facts.. If that didn't constitute self defense there is no such thing as self defense!
[angela clautrice] - The lesson learned here is this: When you go to beat a strangers a$$, you are taking a big risk. If that person happens to be carrying a concealed weapon, you could be shot and killed, and it would be perfectly legal. It's called self defense. So why don't we teach our children NOT to put their hands on other people? This is supposed to be a civilized society, is it not? The fact that George Zimmerman had wounds on the back of his head indicates he was the one on the ground getting his head bashed into the sidewalk. Anyone who owns a concealed weapon would've done the exact same thing he did to save his own life from being savagely attacked.
[karen mifflin whiting] - I am a parent as well... And I think the jury hit it right... Of course I would be sad and devastated if I were to lose my child like this... But it us what it is... Trayvon was no saint... The jury was tasked with making their decision on evidence and reasonable doubt...I thank the jury for their service
[jackie cox] - Dr. Oz, I love and respect you but the comment you've made has done nothing more than open up a forum for a once again divided nation. I'm so sorry for this tragic loss, they're both guilty of something of which I'm not sure, but you offered up no sympathy for the Zimmerman family and what his family is going through for which I'm disappointed in.
[pamela patterson] - I feel the same as a parent Dr. Oz no matter what we think of the verdict a mother and father lost a child!
[andrea veilleux kipp] - end violence, how about reinforcing the importance of the nuclear family? This is where society is breaking down.
[karen mifflin whiting] - Janet... This is not about Trayvon being a young innocent... That he wasn't! The media wants you to think he was young... But he certainly was not innocent.
[samah maarouf] - Rest in peace, Trevyon Martin. This is so sad, and it made me really upset, seriously where is the justice? :(, my condolences -! My thoughts go the family, love from Denmark <3
[paul rubin] - this is not about violence, but about stupidity and ignorance. When people start working to help each other rather than conflict with them, we will start to heal. Why we are so afraid of each other is because we are living a life of fear and worry. The only cure will be found when an Act of Random Kindness replaces an Act of Hurt.
[bunny foo foo] - Both Trayvon and Mr. Zimmerman made choices. Those choices changed both of their lives. Now, we must learn from this and instead of arguing right or wrong, find a way to make a difference.
[jennifer blanchard] - I watched/listened to about 85% of the trial and if others did too, they would see that jury did it's duty with the evidence that they had. You can't convict someone just because you think they should be convicted. A lot of things did not add up. The media is throwing this all out of proportion and everyone is just going on what they 'think'. You NEED to look at the evidence and then maybe you will realize that this wasn't just some guy going after some kid - it wasn't like that, not according to the evidence I heard.
[ty bates] - I think this incident is proof that we need to focus more on the family--and bring Love ans Stabilty back in the home. I don't know what was going on in Trayvon's Life, but maybe living in a more stable home with both of his biological parent their would have made a difference. It really is a sad story, for all of us.
[verenda evans] - Why is this kid being label a thug! I thought thugs had criminal records ! Justice was not serve! This kid was stalked & profiled....!
[katelyn stubbs] - People need to stop complaining about the verdict. It makes me sick to see how many people want to see a man fall because of what the media showed you. The jurers knew a lot more about the case than any of you.
[nancy norris ough] - Im disgusted in the verdict ... Were doomed
[kathy taylor] - Please let me interject this fact. The deceased teen, was 6'2 and no innocent bystander knows how to SLAM some bodies head into the pavement.
[angela clautrice] - With a name like "Zimmerman" everyone thought this was a race crime. Well guess what, has anyone noticed Zimmerman isn't white? So this wasn't about race, this was about having the right to defend yourself if you are being attacked. It's legal. That's why Zimmerman is a free man. Defending yourself is not a crime.
[beth lyons] - Zimmerman has parents too.
[linda hartzog] - I'M Sorry to those I WILL offend. Trevon was suspended from school. He shouldn't have been allowed to walk to the store. His parents should have taken him if he HAD to go. Parents have to take some responsibility. I am a parent and I have raised teenagers. You can not just let your children roam the streets and expect nothing to go wrong. IMO.
[cynthia cobb miller] - Trayvon wasn't the innocent "little boy" the media wants us to believe. Yes I am sorry for his parents, as any loss is sad, but I think justice was done.
[jazzy ann smith] - Hey the man was defending himself!! I'm glad he got the not guilty verdict u people are taking this overboard let the man live in peace!
[kathy nelson] - "Children" don't pound people's heads into the concrete, Dr. Oz. That case is a very sad example of two people that both chose bad options. Everyone will suffer forever because of that tragic night. The thing America needs to do is stop letting the mainstream media brainwash with it's race baiting, realize we all are humans with the same problems, and try hard to love each other like Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jesus, and other great peaceful leaders would want us to!
[corey smith] - I continued to be shocked by how some people seemed to have a semi hated of not only Trayvon, but people who express sadness in seeing a young boy dead. Let's be clear, Trayvon was a boy. He had just TURNED 17. In America, regardless of how mature you look, your not even considered an Adult until your 18, and that's partially. Your full adulthood is recognized when you become 21. Secondly, this tragedy would've NEVER happen had Mr. Zimmerman followed police instruction, and stayed in his vehicle. THIS is one if the major reasons why people like myself are sad and disappointed! Regardless of what kind of person Trayvon Martin may have been, at that moment in time, he wasn't bothering anyone! He was simply a kid who went to the store, purchased some candy (skittles) for his future young brother and a ice tea for himself. Was walking home with his Hoodie to shielded himself from the weather. Then, ends up dead! Now, if anyone can't comprehend that, respectfully I suggest you check know your moral compass!
[michael martinez] - Why are all of you attacking Dr Oz for? He's expressing condolences, nothing wrong with that.
[jenn hayward] - He's not FREE!!!!!! Karma will catch him.............. Just like how it caught OJ. And on day Casey Anthony will get hers too.
[damian corbett] - Thanks and we all feel this loss. Any child loss, is never a gain.
[betty petonquot] - Dr Oz I am disappointed in you. Mr. Zimmerman is someone's son and he has been judged Not-Guilty. A word from you would have gone a long way to create peace. Standing for Travon encourages the racial hate that his family is demanding. Are you sure he wasn't a gangbanger or at least wantabe.
[traci davis-botsford] - What about for the man who had to defend himself. If he would have died would you be grieving for him! Shame on you Dr Oz
[caitlin dubs] - How ignorant! Take away guns and many more would be dead each year because we would be unable to protect ourselves and our families! I am an intelligent, sane, single mom and I carry with me 24/7. I refuse to let myself or my son become a victim!
[karyna ziegenfuss] - There are no winners here. Peace is all we need now.
[ana torres] - Very sad that Dr. Oz puts a post with his thoughts and compassion here and some of you use it to put your ignorant, hateful and mean comments. If you don't like his keep scrolling. Very disrespectful. God knows what was on both their minds and if GZ is guilty God will definitely take care of him whether it's soon or 20 yrs from now. Praying for Trayvon's parents and their ordeal and loss.
[linda jacobs widen] - If he wasn't beating up Zimmerman and threatening Z life, he wouldn't have been shot in self defensev
[paula hyde stephen alvarez] - 1000% agreed! Justice took the weekend off!
[teri chiafari] - Unnecessary waste of a life.
[kay brooklyn] - Amen! Well said Dr. Z. K~
[kat lew] - Thank you Dr. Oz for your compassion in so many area's of your live. God Bless you always!! Even if this is a racial issue, all races can have compassion no matter what race it is...With that said. This is how I feel as well in summation...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In Regards to the George Zimmerman case. God is the Final Judge........This Child was not seen as a Young Black Boy going home, he was Seen by George Zimmerman as a Young "Suspect" looking for trouble & felt that this suspect was not going to get away tonight which put Zimmerman in a State of being Angry and Confrontational because of his "Personal Emotions........Trayvon saw Zimmerman as being "Creepy" so this put Trayvon in a state of being Scared, so he was in what we call Fight or Flight Syndrome and he chose the Flight which means to Run to safety once he felt he was safe he was fine Then once he was confronted again and his path of safety was in trouble he went into Fight syndrome and began to fight for his life and defending his Life........once Zimmerman realized he was no match for Trayvon Fist to Fist he had to use his Gun to defend his Life. Zimmerman did not listen to the Dispatcher because of his "Personal Emotions getting in the way of his Professional Obligation. So many times we let our "Personal Emotion" destroy the Good things in our Life. So in closing when you put what is to be believed as a "Creep" & "Suspect" in a Confrontation then you are looking for Disaster. Bottom Line Zimmerman is the CAUSE and is Responsible for this Child's Death and the Blood will be forever on his hands. I Pray that everybody leaves this Verdict in God's Hand and not Hate any particular race over this.
[tiearra saunders-gordon] - I cant with some of these comments..smh. and people like this is why Trayvon is dead..@Vicki Olejarczyk God forbid something like this ever happened to someone close to you..its one thing to feel GZ was justified but to blame his death on his parents is downright WRONG.
[sharon morris] - To blame his parents is just stupid! Vicki O!
[lauren zanelli bautista] - Dr oz knows what's up!!
Dr. Mehmet Oz: As I watched the news this weekend of the Trayvon Martin verdict, it affirms that we must work - 50th Comments
[lauren somerville bishop] - It makes me really sad when people blame the parents! Do you know where your kids are 24/7? All of the testimony was based on GZ side of the story. If he was calling for help and no one came to help, then who witnessed this crime? GZ had a gun, was stalking, was told by 911 operator not to follow. GZ was just as wrong in this case. I am not saying that TM was innocent, he never got to tell his side, he never got a trial and he got the death penalty imposed on him by a vigilante! And now, GZ is still allowed to carry a weapon, so he can do it again. Next time it might be your child. The life of a child was taken before he had a chance to redeem himself and I am very saddened by this.
[tiearra saunders-gordon] - Has ANYONE ever considered that Trayvon was STANDING HIS GROUND when he was being profiled and followed?..freakin hypocrits..I dont look at this like a race issue but some people will and I see why..look at these comments.
[tanya shook] - Dr. Oz you said this just right. Thank U.
[beth lyons] - The Zimmerman family now lives in fear of future attacks from low life thugs.
[susan jefferson] - I wasn't on the jury so I will not second guess them, as they had more information than I do. This was not about race ... the media and even our President made it about race. I refuse to have my emotions manipulated by those who have an ulterior motive in making this about race. Yes it was sad. Yes there were things that both people involved could have done differently ... but it is what it is and it has been tried in a court of law. I will not add to the travesty by being led by the nose by those who have an agenda of division.
[marilyn ferrara] - If someone was following me and this went down ,you would be surprised how many people would be able to slam someone's head in the pavement ! If its me,a loved one ,a pet,or a stranger...I would do whatever I could and had to do to defend against harm. The kid being a certain size and troubled background doesn't mean that's why this happened,Zimmerman has trouble in his background. This verdict is a sin,I don't know how the heck I would be handling it if it were my son...god bless them
[tiffany greene laster] - Dr. Oz, I believe you were personally offering condolences as a PARENT, any parent does. BUT fresh out of the verdict while protesting is still going on, I believe you are doing nothing but adding fuel to the fire in such a devided county. A SIX person jury found him NOT GUILTY. I think it's only fair that you celebrities start offering condolences to the victims families that are MURDERED, TORTURED, MUTILATED all over this nation daily. I sure didn't see any condolences from celebrities to the Alexander family after their son was over killed! If you're going to publicly sympathize with only one, and a very racially driven one at that, then I believe you should expect people to believe you are picking sides only on the race level. After all, sadly it's the only important factor to most people. So, as I said, I believe you are offering condolences strictly as a parent, but sadly it's as if now is not the time. According to statistics that Huckabee shared last night: the population of African Americans is 13%. 53% of murders are black men between the ages of 17 and 29. And 93% of those murders are at the hands of other black men. So why are we nationalizing a case of other lesser 7%? Shouldn't this nation be more concerned about the 93% killing within their race, and accounting for more than half of the murders in this country? Just an opinion rotor opinion.
[tambra ewen mitchell] - In my opinion, the president (or any president for that matter) has no business commenting or taking sides in any verdict, of this nature, passed by a court of law. If anything, restoring the peace and urging an unbiased point of view would speak volumes over continuing to fan the flame. There are no winners in this case. Mistakes were made by Zimmerman AND Martin, and now BOTH families have to pick up the pieces. Let's not keep dividing the HUMAN race.
[roberta woods] - If it was YOUR child (innocent or not), would it have been ok for Zimmerman to kill him? Hell no! Smh at these comments...
[christie d] - He wasnt a stranger?! The kids family lived in the neighborhood..!
[laura hopson] - first Casey Anthony, now George Zimmerman - way to go Florida
[kim nelson] - Stick to medicine. Don't get into politics please.
[marilyn carter] - Very dissappointed that you would comment on this case. Did you also comment on the Casey Anthony case? As a parent we are all sadden by the loss of a life. It's celebrities like you that keep the fires burning. If you heard all the facts you would know that Travon approached Zimmerman. Travon threw the first punch. Florida does have a stand your ground law but they didn't even need it in this case. The facts were the facts. Travon was a kid who was high, got kicked out of school, liked to fight and was planning to purchase a gun. Doesn't sound to me he was some innocent child with a bag of Skittles and an Ice tea!!!!
[mocha kay kay] - For all of you that support the verdict...what if it was your family member. Would you still agree on the verdict?
[shannon murphy mousseau] - so true...no one wins in this situation. :(
[vicki olejarczyk] - His parents failed him by not raising trayvon better.
[shelley rosendale blachuta] - Why haven't you said anything prior to this case about many murders of young men in many cities in this country????
[theresa maddox] - Dr. Oz, don't u think the parents of Zimmerman are suffering and grieving as well. If your a parent you should be able to see both sides. A death of anyone young is hard for any parent. Stick to what u do and stay out of it.. He was found not guilty, stop stirring the pot.
[joanne dibisceglie soldo] - Dr. Oz, please stick to medical advise! I refuse to watch Oprah since she decided to put her two cents into politics and I would hate to boycott you as well!
[jon hagel] - Dr. Oz. stick with medicine not social issues.
[january dubroc liokis] - Alethia, my child would not be walking the streets in the dark. That is adult behavior. A good kid would have responded to a neighborhood homeowner's inquiry about why he was there with "hi sir, I'm on my way to the store to get a bag of skittles"... I would want to know what a stranger walking around my neighborhood was up to also. Regardless of wether they were wearing a hoodie and saggy pants or a suit/tie!
[tony chalhoub] - Marijuana in his system really ? That makes you a criminal? And most of you are on prescription pills , the real mind altering drugs . But it's prescribed by a doctor and approved by the govt so it's alright , like I said end ignorance then you will end racism !
[kathy taylor] - Everyone needs to gather true and correct facts, before speaking. I think..no I know that they both were ignorant as to reality of the streets. That teenage 17 year old was kicked out of school three times, Career ..I doubt it. He was 6'2 knew how to slam a persons head in a fight. Which means he was powerful, his personal mistake was making physical contact with someone who was legally armed. And had spotted the gun, and was moving for it. At that point.: It was SURVIVAL.
[veronica corridan gemma] - Give a break Dr. Oz. at least you can say something about the irresponsible media and the DOJ making this political and about racism. It was neither of those things. It was a tragic incident where 2 young live and 2 families were deeply effected and hurt. Speak to your buddy Oprah and get her to go a show about her home town. Outrageous murdering going on in the local black communities. None of that get on MSNBC. Be responsible and address the real issues.
[linda reardon henry] - They need to bring back. "It's 9:00 o'clock where is your child."?"
[virginia bautista jones-wick] - people are ignorant why aren't they walking the streets for all the gang killings. All those children or adults who have been gunned down have parents who are grieving. March for stopping the gangs
[colleen gentry maxey] - @vicki olejarcyk...judgemental much? How big of you to criticize grieving parents...where's your compassion?
[sammie n. doyle] - Shameful, I have a son that age who will be soon heading off to Iowa for college. I pray for his safety each day, he is so oblivious to what is going on out there.
[shyreeta allen] - At Vicki no justice failed him, no one deserves to die
[kimberly govan] - Thank you Dr. Oz!! We need more people like you to stand up and be vocal.
[phyllis plummer] - Thanks Dr. Oz..WE, AS A PEOPLE, APPRECIATE YOUR COMPASSION AND EMPATHY!! GOD BLESS!!
[sonia r. chavarria] - Losing a child is devastating no matter the circumstances. .
[amy dunbinsky] - I am a fellow parent too but when your head is slammed on concrete I believe in defending yourself.
[lamar black out childers] - Brooklyn, lets see if you can keep your hands to yourself when a creepy individual is following you at night, approaches you with hostility and makes it well known that u don't belong in a neighborhood u actually live in
[lamar black out childers] - Just because he was acquitted does not mean innocent, heck OJ Simpson was acquitted of murder, how many people in here believe he is innocent of murder? Zimmerman made have been acquitted, but he is still a murderer
[dawnelizabeth tomaszewski both] - Parents need to start parenting and stop thinking they are still able to do all the things they want to do and leave their kids home alone. It doesn't justify killing but maybe if someone would have been home and disciplining with rules to follow trayvon would still be alive.
[maureen wilberforce] - All you people who this was a case of self defense did ask your self why Zimmerman did get out of the car and follow a boy who was just minding his own business? A boy who was talking on the phone with a friend, this boy was not committing a crime. If you were seventeen and some was following for no reason and attacked would u not fight back? Why did Zimmerman approach the boy with a loaded gun? This was not self defense but murder. Shame on all who say this was self defense.
[sherri demarco] - I am sad that T.M., but he was not innocent! I think there was not enough evidence and also believe it was self defense after, after watching the trial. Why is nobody questioning the parents who should have been monitoring their child who was kicked out is school for drug abuse??
[lisa belcher] - Last I heard STALKING is against the law. Everybody is talking about how Zimmerman had a right to do wht he did. Since when does minding your business gets you killed? SMH...its sad you have to worry about your kids going to the store UNARMED and end up MURDERED. Alot of you would be singing a different tune if it were your child.
[boni turner hills] - I wish I knew more actual facts about this. I just keep asking myself ...why did Zimmerman get out of the car? The whole thing could of been avoided.
[bonnie wilson] - Imo: He is not innocent, he was declared "not guilty". GZ's actions led to the death of TM.
He admitted to following him, an unarmed minor, & pulling the trigger. If someone is following you& you feel threatened, your options are fight or flight. If GZ had thought it through I'm sure he would have realized how dangerous his actions would be, but he chose to follow him.
[iesha nicole] - Lmao! Do y'all really think DR. OZ cares if you unfriend him lol
[jennifer schraski quiray] - And let's hope that Antonio West's story (the 13m old that was shot in his baby carriage and mother, too) finds some closure as well. Oh, that's right, the media didn't cover THAT story.
[tabitha jefferson] - You know what I see a lot of ignorant people on this blog it sad for that grown people can judge a child that hasn't even becoming an adult yet. It's sad because Dr Oz message was not for what's being said on here ...grow up it's not about his skin color it's about what's right..if this was your child how would you feel if someone is following your child in the dark in kills him ...
[byron c moon] - The racial divide with these post are unbelievable.. Sad time to be American...
[beth best] - I can't tune in to CNN anymore - to hear those who support GZ. He said if he had it to do all over again - he wouldn't change a thing. Seriously missing a sensitivity gene that man.
[marilyn skeete jack] - @Jazzy Ann Smith defending himself from what.....a child. At the end of the day the jury spoke, but for anyone who have done wrong remember karma is real. It's people like you Jazzy Ann Smith and the rest who uphold wrong doing weather by words or actions as the norm. Remember no bad deeds go unpunished. As a mother of two boys, I would not dear say the garbage that just came from your thouhts into writing. We are all children of God and I am quite sure if someone were to killed any family member of yours such garbage would not be spewing from your mouth. God bless Trayvon Martin and his family and may his soul rest in eternal peace. Let Zimmerman live with his guilty conscience.
[tamara kzeski-hachem] - Same here Dr.. It's a sad weekend.
[dawn howard] - No justice for trayvon!!!!
[christie d] - But it wasnt George Zimmermans place to do anything to the kid. He's not a cop.
Dr. Mehmet Oz: As I watched the news this weekend of the Trayvon Martin verdict, it affirms that we must work - 100th Comments
[julie mcnair peterson] - I respect you Dr. Oz and agree we must work to end violence ..never going to happen in my life time but we should try..however, violence was coming from both parties and did you miss the part that Mr. Zimmerman mentored black kids and just wanted his neighborhood to be safe..yes I wish he had used a stun gun while his head was being crashed into the sidewalk and this young man wasn't killed but sympathy should not only be expressed to one family the Zimmerman's lives will never be the same either. Oprah is your sponsor you couldn't possibly show compassion for Zimmerman's family just like she never stood up for Paul Deen when she in fact spent the weekend at her home...ok enough this world is so screwed up and one sided! Media just loves to stir things up and stand back ad watch.
[jared wickes] - Better parenting could have prevented this tragedy.
[cindy zapata] - I like you Dr. Oz, but don't add more fuel to the fire! What would you have done in Zimmerman's shoes if your head was being pounded to the ground and you felt your life threatened?
[pat siemer] - Excuse me!. Just how long would it be before Trayvon, ,the sweet little guy with the marijuana in his system when he beat Mr. Zimmerman's head on the concrete would be found standing before the same Prosecutors in Florida for something or other. He happened to be the in the wrong place at the wrong time but the evidence was followed. The jury prevailed. This was Not a Racial ISSUE until the NAACP made it one. Sorry, my opinion.
[michele everson] - You have no idea what its like to be black in this world..unless you are black...
[suza weaver] - Dr Oz, ur missing the point. End violence everywhere??? Don't you mean parents need to teach their kids to respect their elders???? A simple act of respect would have landed trayvon back hone and in bed!
[bobby hampton] - Dr. Oz!! It's clear to me from what you said that you disagree with the verdict!! Is that what you intended?? If so, then you've been drinking the "Crump Kool-aid"! I agree that it's tragic that a young man is dead -- but because of his own actions!
[shyreeta allen] - If he were bashing your head on concrete you would be knocked unconscious whish Zimmerman was not if he were punching you repeatedly you would have the bruises to prove it he only had two little scratches on the back of his head, which were bleeding like that only because the scalp is very vascular ( for you dummies means it has a lot of tiny capillaries that bleed easily, but no where near enough to kill him) and the busted nose was self inflicted. He hit him self in the nose because he shot that boy and wanted it to look like he got punched. The med examiner said the hit likely came from the left side. Treyvon Martin is right handed zimmerman is left handed most people hit with their dominant hand so it makes perfect sense no one was there and it only takes two seconds to hit yourself with the back of the gun the first witness didn't come til about 20 seconds after the shot plenty of time and treyvon had every right to be where he was. This is a free country
[beth best] - I respect the parents so much - their hearts must be breaking. They say their faith has carried them through. Bravo.
[darlene scaife-herron] - If everyone look at the whole picture of this if George had listen to 911 dispatch and not follow tm he would still be living today.but no he wanted to be billy bad boy and take matters in his own hands.wanna be cop!
[brian schafer] - @ Dr. Oz....It's funny I never heard you say a thing about the multiple kids dying in the streets of Chicago every night...People are getting played by the media like a fiddle.
[elizabeth bizer] - Everyone is becoming so angry at Dr oz that you all fail to see what he is saying. His words do not necessarily mean he is on trayvons side just that as a parent his heart aches for the family and that violence DOES need to end. We all have a side here so let's grow up.
[jeannine sullivan smith] - As a fellow parent I empathize with his family but also believe that George Zimmerman had the right to protect himself. It is a lose/lose situation.
[david tanner] - Liberals, the media, Al, Jesse, made this a racial case. Justice was done, period. I didn't hear liberals complain when OJ was acquitted.
[sandra mckenzie] - shame on you dr oz....what about George Zimmerman parents. ..that is their son that if for the fact he did not have his gun he would be the one in a grave. ..Trayvon loved to fight and bragged about it...the real story about him will come out now....feel some sympathy for the Zimmerman family that have gone through hell....
[michelle crosby] - I HAVE been a victim of RACISM many times!!!! Racism is across the board Debra....I wish it were not true but it is! You never mentioned the OJ trail.... Do you not think that too was a racist OUTCOME!!! It was, don't delude yourself!!!!! We, meaning myself and others of the white race are victims everyday, Also.
JUSTICE FOR EVERY MURDER VICTIM!!!!WHETHER BLACK OR WHITE! BROWN! RED! YELLOW!!!!
Justice actually has been served in the form of Karma, for Nicole and Ron! And Debra, you know you are absolutely correct, I am not Black, and will never know what it is to be black, but I can assure you, I have been different my whole life, and have felt PURPLE!!!!! I have suffered my entire life, for being DIFFERENT! I stood alone, however!!!!! No group allegiance. I was a child of molestation, and abuse on every level...I may not be black.....but I suffered at the hands of a cruel world ALSO!!! And when you say the justice system is not set up,for blacks....this statement certainly does not resonate with our family, since it was a black man set free after he viciously murdered my cousin! The justice system, Debra, works for NOBODY it seems, other than the wealthy! I feel it's no longer about race, but socio-economics! If you are rich, you get away with murder...literally, and figuratively!
[karen mifflin whiting] - Kristen... Are you kidding me? Would you be saying that if Trayvon was a legal adult? When George was defending himself i am sure age and skin didn't factor in...
[wanda chavis allen] - I hope you know you just lost alot of fans, you just should of done what alot of people have done and kept your Hollywood mouth shut. With you being a doctor at a hospital, looks like you would of not made a statement. I thought you were smart evidently I was wrong. I have enjoyed watching your show, but you are a trouble maker so you have to go! Oh by the way this Zimmerman guy was black and Latino. My heart goes out for all the children who are raped, murder, and abuse. This dude was 17 years old, and taller than Zimmerman, he was no child.
[brian hodges] - There was witnesses that confirmed zimmermans "story" actual facts.
[nancy salinas] - So tired of all the hate n racism along with this very sad story. So glad he was found NOT GUILTY
[marilyn skeete jack] - For all the fools that think GZ head was smached into the concrete and was still able to stand up and coherently dial 911 says a lot about your level of thinking. He would have suffered some type of concoction with such brutal force that was allegedly brought on by the hsnds of TM........come on now people. Lets be real many of you who are making comments about TM are very racist and disgusting with your comments. I read a lot of comments about OJ who have nothing to do with this case. Just remember OJ got his karma and so will George Zimmerman and many of you hate mongers.
[lamar black out childers] - Barbara Hirsch, you need to cut that out because he had no stolen jewelry. The toxicology reports showed he only had traced amounts of THC in his system, it said nothing about him being high. Stop making up stuff. He is more innocent than the wanna be cop murderer(Zimmerman) is
[lamar black out childers] - Dr. Oz was only sending out his condolences for the Martin family, what has the majority in this country in a up roar is the fact that a murderer again was allow to walk out of court a free man yet again.
[lamar black out childers] - How can Zimmerman be in fear of his life when he was the one who approached Martin with a gun? Someone please tell me that, if he was so afraid, why did he approach Trayvon, huh? Makes no sense
[lamar black out childers] - The Jurors did not have all the information Katelyn, and the reason why people are pissed a murderer was allowed to get away once again like that Casey Anthony who like Zimmerman was clearly guilty. Just because you are acquitted means nothing, all it means is that the prosecution failed to prove he was guilty like they did Case Anthony. Zimmerman is a lying murderer
[kary fernandez] - @Deborah....
Really ????? Not a child .. At 17????
U are dumber than u look!!!!!
[marilyn ferrara] - NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH...nice thing to have, keep an eye on neighbors , and surroundings.....BUT, you should NOT BE ALLOWED to carry and use a gun just because its legal for you to have it! That is why it's called WATCH ,
[lamar black out childers] - What world are u living in Karen. Race had everything to do with this. Zimmerman was the instigator, he was not defending himself because he was the one who was armed and shot an unarmed kid who was only minding his business walking from the store with soda and candy. Zimmerman is a wannabe cop who the real police told not to follow him and do nothing and he chose otherwise. He started this whole ordeal, not Trayvon. Man i tell you, delusional minds are definitely in abundance if you believe Zimmerman is the real victim instead of Trayvon.
[barrett fazar] - Maybe a few shows on psychological health and how to be at peace instead of confrontational are in order!
[carmen helin] - @Lori smith, yes call the authorities but don't intervene. Zimmerman took the law into his own hands inspite of the police telling him not to
[carol russell] - So sad, how can we deal with this as parents....
[diann stone prince] - After the trial, please respect the courts decision. This entire situation has nothing to do with civil rights. Its about Zimmerman who used his gun in self defense after savagely having his head slammed on the concrete. Yes, sympathy to Trayvon's parents + Zimmerman's parents due to unfortunate circumstances. How so very sad.
[theresa maddox] - I'm not a supporter of either one, I just choose to follow the law of our judicial system! There's no winners here! Move on!
[carolann zaha] - The jury did the right thing....
[brian hodges] - That's how self defense works.
You defend yourself from another that's physically attacking you.
[vicki pamela henderson jackson] - This was not a hate crime. When describing Trayvon to 911 operator, Zimmerman had to be asked the color of the person he saw. Zimmerman tutored all colors of people in his home. Race did not play a part and Zimmerman was heading back to his car when the altercation took place. No evidence to convict Zimmerman and the jury had to go on Law not Feelings. It was Zimmerman's head that banged against the ground/concrete and received wounds. Thank you media for trying to make this case something it wasn't and for people not searching for Facts. It is sad that a precious life was lost from this unfortunate incident and prayers for both families as neither will ever be the same.
[linda bissonnette] - I am a fellow parent and I would like to know how Trayvon learned to break a nose in one punch and learn to slam someone's head on concrete to hard to break skin and bleed? His racial anger came from the hood of Miami and TM needed help not to be kicked out to Dad's in Sanford and away from his home. Mother did Trayvon wrong to give up on him and kick him out. Trayvon's texts in evidence shows Tm was angry at Mom to go to Sanford. Into a Sanford neighborhood of recent nightime invasions. Go figure. Disaster recipe.
[robin sieverling] - I'm certain that George Zimmerman's parents are also "sad". I am also "a fellow parent" We need to be concerned as a country, about all the violence and anger! My heart goes out to both sets of parents. There really are no winners here.
[lisa monkeymom] - Two families both forever changed and hurt. How sad!
[anna aldrete] - Justice was served..I'll pray for both families
[ken myers] - I don't understand how people come up with their own version of how the incident went down. The state had a job to prove the guilt of the defendant. They failed. The media was totally irresponsible to the fact that they themselves added their own embellishments to the facts. This should have only been tried in the court of law and not by the public option! We are a country of laws that is what sets our great nation apart from the rest. There are a lot of what ifs but the fact is you were not there! Zimmerman was guilty until proven innocent there is something very wrong with that! I blame the media for that. I feel the media and the talking heads fuel the racial rhetoric for one reason and that is ratings. Sad as it is it will only cause more hate and crimes. I feel people like Dr Oz need to be very careful what they say because the have such a large following their views and comments can be misunderstood and add to the problem.
[amy bush] - That's stupid. He's not guilty, get over it, let Zimmerman move on with his life, leave him alone. He only killed him because if he didn't, the kid would have killed him. In his place, I would have done the same thing!!
[theresa lento vinas] - The Florida law states people are permitted to defend themselves. We must work on our children to be respectful and non confrontational.
[corey smith] - @Shannon Escalante Dial.. Respectfully, African Americans didn't create racism. There's NO historical record of African Americans enslaving Caucasian Americans. So when you say you're tired of Blacks playing the race card, we're not playing it, we're responding to it. The reason why we as Americans continue to have an issue with race, is because we have truly never had an HONEST dialogue about it. Anyhow, I appreciate your honest opinion, because this is how we can gain an understanding of one another!
[julie adams] - Dr. OZ...you have crossed the line. Where are you when multiple teens are killed in Chicago every week? Please...stick with medicine...as that is where you serve us best.
[merri carpenter] - My heart goes out to them as well BUT being a parent means get involved with your kids! Apparently they didn't or he wouldn't of had such a criminal history.
I am a gun owner and I will protect myself and my family from evil period!
[dwight schroot] - Hey Dr. Oz why don't you talk about the dangers of teenagers being on sizzurp/lean and how it makes them act like they're on PCP?
[byron c moon] - The bottom line is Zimmerman caused all this.. There wouldn't have been a fight, murder, trial, or these conversations if he would've minded his business.. No one would even know who Trayvon was.. Sad times in the Un United States of America..
[yvonne kirklin scott] - OMG!!!!! What's wrong with some of you people?????? This could have been anyone of our children. Think back to when you were a child/teenager. Did you ALWAYS do everything right. Because you make mistakes, even now do you deserve to be punished to the extreme or do you deserve death ???? When we value animals mor than humans, something is worn with that picture. It's not a race issue, it's a humans being issue. He was somebody's child and they LOVED him.
WHAT IF IT WERE YOUR CHILD???? HOW WOULD YOU FEEL??? Have you or your child/children done EVERYTHING right ALL the time????? I am so heart broken that this happened.....
[jennifer hord wagner] - I feel the same. The worst thing ever is to lose a child, I can't imagine their pain. I am praying that God heals them and our country. We must learn to live in peace with each other. Embrace our differences and learn from each other.
Dr. Mehmet Oz: As I watched the news this weekend of the Trayvon Martin verdict, it affirms that we must work - 150th Comments
[michele everson] - Dr.. Oz.. I have a 21 year old son and I asked him what he would have done if this guy was following him? He said he probably would have called the cops and ran... so.. the guy might have taken thhat as my son was doing something he shouldnt have..and he was scared to get caught..but in reality..he was just scared... my son is dark skinned and I am very light because I am mixed..black and italian.. he has been pulled over many times..just because he was black..never receiving and violations... so he is already very leary of cops..but he would have called for help.. who knows if they would have evn came for him? This could have been my son..that got killed. The ignorance in this country..that just because some is black or their pants are haning down..that their life isnt worth anything anyway..has to stop....
[kathy taylor] - No I beg your pardon. The PROPER thing to do, if someone is Stalking you. And by the way. Florida has STRICT STALKING LAWS.. Of which I'm sure Zimmerman was aware of. The Smart thing to do was to NOT approach Z at his car. Or anywhere near it, go the other way to Safety..since he was so young and innocent. You Jump you get what's coming. You Never Know!
[sherrlyn horelica] - This is all about gun control. They want to take our guns away. Wake up America. God help us!!!!
[suzanne simmons aldridge] - It saddens me that some people cannot feel compassion for the death of a child.
[nashana mcneil elliott] - I can not understand why people are so heartless towards TM parents, they seems so much in pain, it does not matter the color of your skin. This is a parent nightmare.
[russandrene hardison] - You Sir, are part of the problem.
[kel bel] - I'm not even a Parent but this sickens me to the bone......
[jason westfall] - Im glad he got found not guilty!!
[katie riecken] - #teamnotguilty!!
[david tanner] - 12 murders in Chicago this past weekend...Al, Jesse, any plans to protest?? We can't just focus on this one incident...sadly, murder happens daily in this country, and NOT just by guns! Every community needs to educate their children that violence isn't the best way to settle issues, however, as American citizens, we have the right to defends ourselves, family, and property!!!
[deborah geary] - No evidence that Trayvon did anything wrong. None. He was an A student and was simply walking home. Tragic there is no accountability. Acquittal does not equal innocent.
[denise valentin] - Thx dr oz for not being afraid to give your opinion and love
[lamar black out childers] - And on top of that, according to ABC news, one of the Jurors already has a book deal about the whole thing smh. Definitely makes me think why she truly voted him not guilty smh
[lamar black out childers] - Zimmerman is a murderer
[lamar black out childers] - Jan Hindmon, it was Zimmerman who reacted with prejudice, Martin was defending himself against an armed stalker who himself has a criminal record
[lamar black out childers] - The facts are Griselda is not what u stated. The facts are Zimmerman ignored police request to not pursue him or get out of the car nor approach him, evidence shows that Zimmernan approached Trayvon Armed, how is Zimmerman defending himself when Martin was armed with only candy and soda while Zimmerman was armed with a Gun and he approached Martin. Come on, that makes no sense
[pinjana ann inthapanti] - Thank you, Dr. Oz. I'm a parent too. I feel very sad for Trayvon's parents. However, my heart also goes out to Zimmerman, his parents, and his family.
[sharon davis] - He should have been home.
[lisa m. sama] - Such a disgusting travesty of justice. Where is the liberty & justice for all?
[lamar black out childers] - Shut up Keith your ignorant remark
[krista cantrell brennan] - Peace begins with the individual. I met with the Dalai Lama in 2005... His lesson was simple.... Peace begins with the individual.... It is the only thing we have control of. Inner peace is the only way to create harmony between individuals. Countries can make laws. However like China and Tibet the laws will not help the innocent . One person standing alone in peace speaks volumes. If either individual Was it peace with themselves… The tragedy would never have occurred. Namaste.
[tammie ensey] - such public figures as your self ....really shouldnt go public with your thoughts....there were only loosers in this entire case.....perhaps should YOU find yourself one night fighting for your life ...up against someone with drugs in there system....well who know how it could end....
[nilgun nina akpinar chung] - Self defense? Zimmerman clearly did not sustain life threatening injuries. Didn't have to be there to see the evidence, Zimmerman only had minor injuries. Nothing to defend against!
[sherri taylor] - I feel sorry for the parents too and yes it is sad that a child lost his life but I am thankful that Trayvon did not kill Zimmerman while volunteering to watch the neighborhood and I am thankful he was able to protect himself. Trayvon had a troubled history and he was destined for more trouble. It's time we stand up and take care of ourselves and stop pitying the troubled one! Zimmerman had every right to take care of himself and shame on u for standing up for Trayvon and and not feeling thankful that Zimmerman did not lose his life. Guns don't kill people, people kill people so this issue really has nothing to do with guns. Yes violence is sad but the innocent have more rights to stand up for themselves than the bad guy and Trayvon was old enough to know better. He made bad choices and had to pay for them! I will not watch ur show again becuz of what u stand for! So glad Zimmerman won!!!
[david peterson] - What about condolences to George Zimmerman, who was found not guilty. Clearly, the jury believed he acted in self-defense. Now, because of the liberal media, he and his entire family will have to keep a constant lookout over their shoulder because of the threats on his life. I only hope that he wins enough money in his lawsuit against NBC that he can leave this country and spend the rest of his life living comfortably in a foreign country. George Zimmerman deserves our condolences today. Tryavon Martin's family deserved our condolences the night he was shot.
[yaqin shquier] - We need to be concerned about ALL the children that are murdered every yea<SERIOUSLY SO SADr
[penny calloway] - My hearth is sad and my heartfelt condolences to his parents. I do believe George Zimmerman will pay somehow for what he did.
[ronda loines] - Great comment! I still think it could have been avoided if mr. Z had stayed in his car & dialed 911. He should have let the police handle it!
[linda ferguson] - I think any decent persons thoughts and prayers would go out to Trayvons family. It's hard to feel for someone who should have listened to authority and stopped following him. If he had listened none if this would have happened.
[sharon guttilla] - Zimmerman also has parents DR QZ
[cat sunn] - Pray for Zimmerman.
[patricia selman] - How do all of you people know TMartin is an innocent person. Were you there or did you know him personally?
[lamar black out childers] - Angela, it is instigating a fight when you disobey police officers to not engage the person in question. Zimmerman was looking for trouble and it became to
Much for him to handle so he pulled his piece and shot an unarmed kid. He did it because he was a racists wanna be cop who got his but handed to him.
[john taylor] - Thanks Dr. Oz, for your loving support and encouragement.
[marian finley richardson] - Dr.Oz is getting attack just by his rights to choose to show sympathy and empathy on the Martin family, the disrespect and racist, rude remarks because of that, something is wrong with the minds of people who hatred is so deep to were you cant respect one opinions.
[linda guarini sramowicz] - I keep telling people!!!! it's not the color it's the PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!
[skyyla] - About 50 people are murdered in USA every day! Sad but thrue... So everyone just need to move on...And make sure you and your family are not gonna be one of them:( My friend got beat and robbed on Hollywood blvd twice within 3 month period.
[vicki stebbins] - I couldn't be more unhappy with the outcome of the trail ... however a leopard doesn't change its spots and I will be waiting for the next time he makes the news ..... it will happen.
[dianne ruiz] - Regardless of what he may have seemed to some he was still just a kid with candy and tea last I checked these items can't kill someone like a gun would.....
[shyreeta allen] - @ Barbara if that was true does that still mean he deserves to die lets kill your son and claim it was self defense and go free and say it was gods will that I killed your child and in hindsight I will do it again. See how you feel them
[mocha kay kay] - Some people need to take an Ethics class so that tbey can better understand other people.
[dianne demello] - Have you noted that the majority of African Americans being killed are done so by their own race? When that happens is there an uproar from ANY ethnic community? I agree with Dr Oz. We need to end violence everywhere.
[jenn bennett] - How do u know GZ didn't walk up to trayvon w a gun? Cause Zimmerman said so?? WE DO NOT KNOW BECAUAE WE WERE NOT THERE.... IGNORANT PEOPLE THERE ARE NO "FACTS" TO THIS CASE EXCEPT FOR FORENSIC EVIDENCE WHICH DOES NOT AND CAN NOT SAY THAT ZIMMERMAN DIDN'T SHOW HIS WEAPON PRIOR TO TRAYVON BREAKING HIS NOSE...
[laura ledesma] - Thank You Dr. Oz for making your thoughts known. My heart is so very sad for Trayvon Martin's mother & father, as I am a fellow parent and the love of my life, is a multi-ethnic nine year old little boy.
[pamela morgan hagler] - Done with this page. Goodbye.
[roswitha taylor] - I feel bad for the Martin Family. But why is this case so out of proportion.. People get killed every day in America. Its a shame. But the Media milked this one. Please go on with your life and stop the hate. God bless you all..
[sandy beckwith] - I was laid off from work and was trying to keep in shape by walking. I had a teenage girl following me more than once, behind me asking what I was trying to do it wasn't going to help I was still gonna be ugly and other mean things. I think if I would have turned around and said anything back there would have been big trouble. I went home and quit walking I'm a 53 yr old woman and I can't believe such horrible things teenagers do, someone needs to be parenting them! T.M. had pics on his phone that showed him with pot plants and guns and he had tools in his locker used to break into homes. I'm sorry this happened to him but he should have just went home instead of confronting G.M. I think they were both looking for trouble and got more than they wanted.
[diana orcutt] - I was mug at knife point by a young black male. Who did not care that I had my newborn daughter and young daughters with me. when he was caught turned out to be 16 years old and had a rap.sheet since he was twelve.
[marian finley richardson] - I respect the fact Dr Oz send his condolences to the Martins family regardless of ones opinion of the case, the family of both parties suffered but one is gone forever, and why should one be wrong if they don't agree with how went down, so sad the hatred and disrespect that has been display just because there different of opinion.
[cherish ali] - Thank you Dr.Oz your sentiments & suppirt are appreciated.Fellow Parent & Grandparent♥
Dr. Mehmet Oz: As I watched the news this weekend of the Trayvon Martin verdict, it affirms that we must work - 200th Comments
[tracey gordon sheehy] - What is done is done now.....kind of like Casey Anthony case...never will know for sure what happen but a verdict was made. Stop making it a racist issue and go on....
[marla murphy] - George Zimmerman was tried and judged in a court of law by a jury of his peers. This jury made the final decision about this case. Both the defense and the prosecution had the chance to question the jury as the verdict was read but chose not to. Is this not the way the judicial system within the United States is supposed to work? Right, wrong, white or black, it doesn't matter. He was tried and a jury of his peers found him Not Guilty. End of Story!
[darlene scaife-herron] - Gonna foster this has nothing to do with his parents.tm was minding his business walking home from the store when some fool started following him and decided to take his (tm) life. Tm wasn't doing anything to anyone but simply trying to make it home.
[shelia holcomb] - Yes, it is very sad. My husband watched most of the trial and is so very upset about the outcome. I didn't watch much of it, but we need to ask God to help our nation and the whole world love one another. Everything is in a mess and we need God to turn it around and return to our first love.
[nancy thomson] - Oz, you disappoint me.
[kirk arnold] - What about Zimmerman, he was found not guilty. His parents grieve for him his life is lost. He is the walking wounded. So one sided liberal bias!
[twila hurtgen namanny] - so ive thought long and hard on this one and what ive come up with is he had the right to kill him because treyvon knew how to fight back....sad...just really sad what these 6 women decided on
[tammy lamaster] - If I was getting my head beat on a concrete curb I would have done the same thing no matter what color you are
[jean landtiser beeler] - Amazes me that so many who did not hear all the evidence presumes guilt when the jury did not,
[maggi andersen] - I think essentially Dr. Oz was just trying to drum up some activity on his Facebook page. He/his "people" must have known the outcries from both sides. Shame on you, Dr. Oz.
[iesha nicole] - Ok what ? He was 17 his parents didn't have to walk him to the store are you nuts ?
[lucretia ristin] - As a parent, I am extremely sad about Trayvon’s death, however, I think the issue here is American’s love of guns!! Take away the gun factor from this ordeal and Trayvon would still be here with us as would thousands of other innocent victims!
[adrienne schneider] - In all honesty, I believe that Trayvon Martin was the one defending himself....I would do anything to defend myself against someone following me, especially if carrying a gun...it is over...the jury has spoken and we need to abide by their decision.
[mocha kay kay] - I bet Beth agreed with the Casey Anthony verdict as well.
[renee johnson] - As parents we have to make sure that we are protecting our children. Yes, Zimmerman did murder Trayvon but there are parents that murder their children everyday. I'm praying, because a change has to take place.
[erika longeway] - Divided we fall.
[jose solorzano] - Florida's justice system is not good. Once again Jose Baez makes Florida's justice system a joke. Look at the article by USA Today.
[diane conner] - I have always loved Dr. Oz. His above comments are just one more reason.
[mercy ephrem] - thank you Dr OZ I'm very sad!!
[christine rita babico] - We need peace and love.
[marie meyer] - I am tired of all the violence as I am a survivor of domestic abuse
[barbara j whipple] - I agree 100% with you....
[shannon escalante dial] - I am also a parent and my condolences go out to the Martin and Zimmerman Famiies! I think it is interesting how many who are against the verdict never talk about Trayvon's violent behavior and his responsibility in the matter, not only Zimmerman's responsibility. I am so sick of the race card being played by the black community.
[ginny watsek wineinger] - Its a sad day in America when you can't express your sympathy to the parents of a dead child without getting attacked for it.
[beth lyons] - So over this. A street thug got shot. It happens every day.
Raise your children correctly.
[fran rizzo] - Dr.Oz...you're the best...that was beautifully said. Some people make it a race issue....it's not! It's about a young man's death!
[michelle crosby] - Like a black person who voted for Obama, simply because he was HALF black! It's insanity!!!!!
[wilhelmina foley] - Thank You Dr. Oz For Your Heartfelt Words For Trayvon Martin's Family! Greatly Appreciated!!!♡♥
[michelle crosby] - like if one day we are invaded by other races?????? We better come together now!!!!
[michelle crosby] - Where was BIG AL and Jesse when my cousin was decapitated by black kids???? No sorrow for us......it's biased.......
[michelle crosby] - My sincere condolences to both families!!! But look at you people....still two sided for some.....THIS IS NOT ABOUT RACISM!!!! It's about life, and the sadness we must all endure from senseless acts!!!!this was not a child!!!! And I was not there to make a valid statement other than I am sorry for all concerned!
[michelle crosby] - People get out there and try to show as much passion with issues that concern all of us daily. Like the GMO's we are unknowingly consuming daily...that are killing all of our children. Monsanto.....Wall Street bankers....the federal reserve that is not federal at all. The government behind the government...gas prices on the rise again....foreclosures...the list goes on and on....we are being murdered daily!!!!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!! Let the criminal system (that is however failing) deal with these jerks!!!!!!!!!
[michelle crosby] - Where was god when that innocent child was shot in the face while in his stroller, where was god when my cousin has his head blown off by two black young men, where IS GOD NOW????????? Dr. Oz is a sell out and phoney !!!!!!! Diet products....hahahahahahahaha
[brooklyn james] - Yes Zimmerman should of stayed in his car but Trevon should of kept his hands to himself also. It was tragic but it wasn't race fueled like the public & media is portraying...it was two people living in fear. And now we all live in fear bc of a case that should of never been bc of race.
[brooklyn james] - Zimmerman is a innocent man defending himself! What about his family Dr. Oz?! I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself unless you want to loose viewers!
[jeanne blackwood] - Maybe Trayvon was trying to protect HIMSELF!
[md stevens] - Should of been better parents and to know where the kid was !!!!
He was a troubled teenager who was looking for trouble and that's exactly what he found !!!!
[jonathan shalon ballard] - Justice was served
[windy prahastuti] - Yes, agree. We must end violence everywhere in this world. Start from ourself, family, school, regions.
[kim munikata] - Wow, Dr. Oz can't have sympathy for parents that lost their child? Just because he is a celebrity? Stop expecting these ppl to not have hearts just because you don't. Your cold heart and lack of sympathy is something YOU own. Stop pushing it off on other ppl.
[mae lour] - stick being a doctor!
[kathy taylor] - Yes he was armed from the beginning, and he was within 100 ' from his car when TM came at him and delivered the first blow. But he never drew his weapon until TM made a move for it. He GZ was on the bottom.
[ashlei bell haskell] - Thank you for finding commonalities and not focusing on differences. Great model for how we can cross color lines and join hearts for humanity.
[sheila mccovery] - Thanks for sharing the sadness and understanding the humanity in this situation. Zimmerman was guilty even without a verdict because he killed someone. This world is evil.
[loree gutowski] - Self defense is not violence
